I Am Ready For Bed

How in the world does anybody live in New
York? Holy Moly.  I am glad to be home in my cozy little house in
my cozy little non crowded town.  Yipes. I cannot believe how many
people were stuffed in over there.  Other than that, it was a nice
trip and an interesting drive and I got to spend millions of hours
staring at Geo (one of my very favorite things to do).

Anyways, I'll wite more later.  In the meantime, would anybody
like to win the best Latin program in the entire world?  I have
one from Greek n Stuff for one of you.  This program is $134.  GreeknStuff sent in the Latin's Not So Tough! full starter set. We are going to be featuring this Latin program in our new Schoolhouse Store in
about 2 months (their Greek program is just as awesome, we might
feature that one too).  If you want to win this Latin program, let
me know.

New York, New York

I've got that song going thru my head: “Start spreadin' the news, I'm leavin' today….”

Guess where I am going tomorrow.  Just guess. Go ahead. You'll
never guess.  It's somewhere I've never been before and it takes
12 hours to get there from my house.  Anyways, I am leaving
sometime tomorrow and should be back by Sunday afternoon.   I
love road trips.  And sometime next week I should have TWO most
excellently stupendish contests lined up.  I've talked to two
different companies who want to give YOU free stuff.  Isn't that
nifty?  I love contests!  If you are looking for a  phonics program (the
same one that me and gena use(d) with our kids and love) you will want
to check back in.  The other one I will leave as a surprise.

Lastly, I love seeing motivated kids who don't just learn about business, but those who jump in to see if they can make things happen.  This girl has a neat idea, I hope she does well with it.
See you in a couple days!

Red Snow Falls on Russia

Yep, it's true.  Is that weird or what?  Red snow fell on Russia the other day. Here's the deal
We live in a strange world.  Anyhow, I feel pretty sorry for some of you poor northern bound people. Snow = YUCK
This is what we've been doing over the last few days:

The boys doin' a little fishin'

Ryann in front of the pink Weeping Cherry Tree

Emmiko made herself and Ryann 'crowns' with these cool branches full of bright yellow flowers.

We are having too much fun at our little homestead.  On another
note.  We got together with the smokey mountain homeschool gang
tonight for dirty bingo. Annemarie and Letitia were missing but fellow bloggers Maria, Amy Beth, Gena, and Kris Price
were there to make things interesting.  boy, dirty bingo is dirty.
Everyone was ready to kill Gena by the end of the night…

Math Maniacs

I have some great news, early this
morning I sent Kate and email and asked if they might be kind enough to
let an additional two people win.  I just heard back from her and
she said YES!  So we actually have three winners.  I am going over to check the last three commenters right now….
and the winners are:
MyPlace
momn4boys
AND (drum roll please)
GAHomeschoolMom

Wow! what a contest.  Also, Kate wanted me to let you know that you can download a free version of TIMEZ ATTACK at BigBrainz.com
You might want to blog about this neat company.  They are very
generous and have a great resource for homeschoolers. Thanks
Kate!  We had a lot of fun with this one!

Sometimes companies contact me and ask if they can send in
their products for review.  I hate doing
reviews (for the most part) because it is too time consuming, but when Kate
from Big Brainz emailed me and said she wanted to send a copy of their new
computer video game. TIMEZ ATTACK I said, “Sure, but send two because if I like it then I
will blog it and put one up as a contest”

I am glad I agreed to have a look at this program… and my
kids are overjoyed.

I kid you not, my children want to do nothing but play this
game.  It reminds me of BoBo’s Lord of
the Ring game where characters have to walk around and figure things out and
then battle against bad guys.  In other
words, it is fun and has challenging elements that make kids want to play.  But here’s the kicker, when you get certain
keys, you have to defeat *bad guys* by entering in proper multiplication answers.  Check out their website for an idea of how it
plays
.  This game is very cool. I’ve had
a lot of fun watching them play.  Even
my my excellent husband thought it was neat, and he thinks pretty much everything is lame.

I’ve never seen an ‘educational video game’ that plays
like this.

As a side note, there is nothing graphic what-so-ever in this.  When you kill the bad guys they simply flop
over or they *poof* disappear.  It is
neither violent nor gruesome.  It’s just
fun.  One of you will win this game.  To win, you must be the LAST person to leave
a comment before I post my next entry.   I will check this page and see who the last
commenter is and then announce them as the winner in my next post.  Good luck!!

Yesterday was the happiest ever.
I was the first to catch a fish from Lake Curry.  It was
huge.  I put him back in the pond but he must've weighed at least
80 pounds.  Bo
and Dip caught the next two.  One of them was a monster, a true
monster, and you will be proud to know that I almost hacked off it's
head (geo had to help, that sucker was enourmous), and I scaled it and
skinned it and Coie fried it up.  It was the best fish I ever ate.

Here is Dippy's fish:

Here is  BoBo's monster.  Can you believe how big it is?? The tail goes all the way past Dippy's yellow gloves.

Here you can get a good indication of the size.  See our phone?  See that fish?  That is one big fish.

PLUS, my friend Dawn
brought over the Rainbow vacuum.  Tomorrow maybe I'll show a
picture of my newly very clean avocado green carpet.  I could DIE
of joy.

Happy Birthday to ME

This is a great birthday: it's not MY birthday, it's Gena's birthday, but it's happy birthday to ME because my new friend who is also the friend of my other most excellent friend (who is currently jet setting around the country like a glamour girl) is trading her Rainbow Vacuum cleaner to ME.

Gena is
going to die with jealousy, which makes me even happier… oh the joy
is never ending.  I get to go pick it up tomorrow and then I will
get to vacuum my nasty green avacado carpet to my hearts delight. Happy

37 years ago my sister Gena Renee Wright was born — her primary mission: to torture me on a daily basis.  I am proud to say that she has lived up to her goals. heh heh

Actually, the smartest thing I've ever done was to have Gena as my
older sister.  She is my very best friend and her husband is my
second best friend (actually, I might like my brother in law better
than her).  I am very blessed and I hope she lives for another 147
years. I do not know anybody on the planet who longs to truly serve God
like she does.  She is the most un-snobbish person I know.
She is the most loyal, faithful, steadfast, courageous person I've ever met.  So go tell her Happy Birthday, k?

And…. check this out!! Our very brand new Schoolhouse Store
is UP and running.  We got our first order yesterday, as a matter
of fact.  Somebody bought the Knowledge Quest maps we have in
there.  The best part is, there is ZERO shipping and handling fees at all for anything purchased in there. We will ALWAYS offer free shipping and handling in our Schoolhouse Store.

Almost everything in our Schoolhouse Store  is what I am
personally using with my family.  So if you need some curriculum,
check it out.  And if you buy anything at all in there this week,
send me an email at JenIG@TOSMag.com and I will also send you a free
Draw Write Now book to go along with your order.  We are really excited about this.

Happy Friday!
Love Jen

While perusing Coie's
blog (perusing is code for 'checking up on and examining the blogs of
the people whom she links to, or who leave her comments) I came across
an entry that I found interesting.

This kid
gives a very intersting account of being enticed by his local military
recruiting center. He tells all about his day with the two recruiters
and some of the things they told him. While I was reading it, I started
thinking about BoBo and Dippy and James, and if the military is an
occupation I would like to see them in.  What are your thoughts
for your family?  Especially given the political climate we are
living in and the world events that are so menacing.  Also, if you
read that guy's blog, I'd like to know your thoughts about the
military's recruiting tactics.

Congrats Stephanie!

I am glad to see that you really wanted those movies; man you are a hard worker. haha
They will surely have a good home.

I'd like to have another contest, for myself… It is called “Who Will Be the First Person to Offer Jenefer Igarashi A Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner“.  I love those things, you know the ones with the water in them for the filter? Surely there has to be somebody out there who wants to unload their Rainbow vacuum.

Actully, I am looking to buy one, so iffen you have a good one that is in good shape will you sell it to me?
