Updates — Day 3 & 4 + Monkey Video Take 2
Ok… this Isagenix stuff is odd. On Thursday I weighed and took all of my measurements. Friday I had a shake for breakfast and a ‘Natural Accelerator’ capsule, then I had lunch (chicken curry, of course) and then I had a shake for dinner. Friday was the worst day because I was hungry and a little worried about Saturday and Sunday since all you get is this Cleanse For Life stuff that tastes like gross Apple Juice and these little ‘snacks’ that look and taste like chocolate Tums. ** program summary thus far: The weird part was that the two days with no solid food (Sat and Sun) were easier than the first day (Friday) when I got started. The program says this happens because the “Cleanse for Life” junk has got all the nutrients and stuff that your body needs, so you are being flooded with nutrition and your body loses its cravings. When I first read that I rolled my eyes BUT that seems to be exactly what happened with me. However, the literature also says the shakes and drinks are “delicious” — I *can* and will argue with that. I didn’t particularly like the shakes…. until I started adding Chocolate Malt Ovaltine. Now I like them. Yes, that’s cheating, and NO, I don’t feel guilty about it because Jess told me that she adds ICE CREAM to her shakes. ice cream. What a corker she is. Oh, and I also cheated on both of the ‘no food ‘cleanse days’ because on both days I had a shake w/Ovaltine. Here’s another thing that was odd– I fully expected to be very weak and drained and feel sick from not eating, but I’ve had more energy than I normally do. WAY MORE. I worked out on both Saturday and Sunday. about 20 minutes and then 40 minutes the next day. And if you know me, you that that I do *not* work out (ask Coie – I don’t do anything that requires exerting any additional energy). I haven’t worked out for years because I always feel drained and dragging, sort of like a slug encased in peanut butter. I have had health problems for the last ten to twelve years, and ‘time’ has steadily pronounced the symptoms (kidney deformity which causes chronic kidney stones, mitral valve prolapse and high blood pressure, general fatigue, etc). Jess told me on Saturday that another reason she wanted to get this cleanse was to see if it would help my health issues and energy levels. So anyways, the energy levels were something I did not at all expect. This morning Geoff — the eternal skeptic — told me that he also wanted to get on the program, so now I am sharing the stuff with him (jess got me an extra bottle of the liquid energy stuff). Ok, so here are the updates thus far: Thursday Aug 2 Monday Aug 6 Diaphragm (rib cage) 32’ inches 30’ inches I also lost a half inch from both thighs. There were a total of 14 measuring points to record. So far I’ve had a total overall loss of 11 inches and 8 pounds. And this is only the midway point… My program officially ends this Sunday the 11th, so next Monday I will give the final update w /measurements and weight. It’s sort of interesting, isn’t it? Today thru Friday I’m supposed to have a shake for breakfast, a practical lunch and then a shake for dinner. Sat and Sun are the last two ‘cleanse days’, which means only the apple juice energy stuff again (and I’m planning on cheating by having shakes on those days, too). Premeditated Cheating. Lastly, I was startled at the lack of non-enamorment or enthrallment with my groovy Poppin Monkey video (although at least Marsha tried to be impressed and left me a groovy video link in return – very groovy, possibly even more groovy.) So here is another Monkey video, one that NOBODY can deny. It is one of Coie’s all time very favorite songs in the whole big world – there’s just no way you can tell me that you don’t dig it |

Days 1 and 2– And NO I don't sell the stuff
This morning on the way back from the library I was telling Coie that so far I like doing this program and that I’m glad tomorrow is a ‘cleanse day’ (basically liquids all day) because we’ll be at church and that will help me stay distracted from being hungry. And she said, "yeah, you’ll be hungry and tomorrow is communion. When the usher comes by with the bread and juice you can tell him, ‘Super Size me’ ". I almost spit my water all over the windsheild. That girl is so funny (and she finally blogged again) Anyways, so far so good. I wasn’t going to post until Monday because I wanted to get more of an idea about this stuff, but I keep getting questions. Being the lazy kinda girl I am, I’ll just copy and paste the email I sent to my friend this morning. It pretty much sums up the last couple days. "…and yes, this cleanse is interesting. jessica has done it twice — i don’t know if you read about that on her blog. this is my second day/third day (counting the pre-cleanse days) and i had not expected to see or feel any difference but i measured myself again (just to see) and i’ve lost two inches around my waist. i sort of just blinked at the measuring tape. that seemed a little ridiculous for it to go down *that* much that fast. yesterday i expected to be dragging but i felt good (i had a bad headache in the morning tho). my husband calls me several times thru out the day and in the evening he called me and told me that he likes it when i take this stuff because i seem a ton nicer. ??? ummmmmm, aren’t I ALWAYS nice ???
but so far i have felt really good and have noticed a definite increase in energy. I think i might like this stuff even better since i didn’t have to pay for it. haha Jess lost like a total of 15 pounds after doing it twice (even tho she cheated thru both). i haven’t gotten on the scale again yet. when i started i was 155. i have not weighed that much for a LONG time. I want to be 142 — that is a good weight for me — it will be interesting to see what the scale says when i’m done. anyways, the stuff is called Isagenix.
if you do get it, try and find somebody who will do it with you. it is nice to be able to call jessica and whine and complain when i feel like eating a bag of doritos — the accountability with a buddy makes it easier (and sort of fun). that’s also why i am blogging it, i feel like if my friends are watching i’ll be less likely to quit or cheat. i think the program is like $120. Jessica does not sell it but she could get it for you and get the discount, too. I don’t know how it all works because she did everything for me. Let me know if you want me to ask her about it for you — or if you just want me to have her email you with more info. she’d be happy to help because I guess she gets ‘credit’ or something if her name is listed as a referral.
love, jen"
So there you have it. i’ll probably give another update on Monday or Tuesday. You’re supposed to measure before you start, in the middle of the program and then again at the very end — so I may post the measurements from the halfway point.
** and… when I do start to feel hungry or sluggish I play THIS. Seriously — talk about a good way to kick your energy up a notch.

Jezebel and Delilah… Come On DOWN!
Ok, here’s the story. When my little sister came to visit she showed me all of her wedding pictures and stuff and was telling me how she did this ‘cleanse’ and lost a bunch of weight so she would fit into her dress. Blah blah blah, this that and some other stuff. Fast forward…about a week ago I was telling her on the phone about how her visit ruined my life because all we did was eat and all of my clothes (which were already too tight) didn’t fit at all any more. So she said that she’s also been gaining weight over the two months she’s been married and that she was going to get back on ‘that cleanse’ because she’d done it twice and it works fast plus it made her feel great. So I was like, “what, do you sell the stuff or something? You’re always talking about this goofy cleanse” and she said, “no, I’m not selling it, but I’m telling you it’s the only stuff that I’ve ever found that works and works fast” And then, she ordered the cleanse for me so I could do it with her and “prove her right”. Good golly, that girl can’t take a little bit of teasing. Talk about getting suckered into something and HAVING to follow thru on account of the guilt factor. So, since I’m being forced into this, I figured over the next week I’m gonna make you suffer with me. I was going to say “make you suffer with me and Jessica” but apparently she LIKES doing this.
– In my effort to sound enthusiastic (and thankful) I told her that since we’re doing this together I was going to refer to it as the "Jessefer Challenge", to which she dryly replied, “That sounds like a Biblical Harlot Game Show”. |
