My Mini Pre Anniversary Date

I'm in Georgia right now.  Me and Geoff the Great drove down on Sunday night so we could have some TOS meetings with a couple of TOSers who live here (and near here).  So it is a 'working' pre anniversary date, buy hey, I'll take it!

Since I've been in GA, I've remembered a few things….

Now, I'm not saying that all of TN is a large stretch of uncivilized back hill kooky country territory — ok, actually, that is exactly what I'm saying.  I almost forgot that large malls and stores and billions of great restaraunts in one easy-to-navigate area ever existed.  And everything is lovely and manicured and there are Starbucks and Paneras and Targets and Old Navy and Jamba Juices EVERYWHERE, i have not seen *any* trailers with 15 cars parked in the lawn , and there was not even one Big Danny's Cheap Bail Bond Huts in or around the city we're staying in.  It's like a very green, less crowded Roseville, California.  The only thing they don't have is a Chevys.  Anyhow, yes, I do feel guilty that I am such a snob.  I thought my inner farmer had completely risen up and taken over the 'old city girl', but I have fallen off the wagon and I am in Culturally Developed Metro Area Heaven.

We'll be heading back to the farm in a few hours –it's about a five hour drive.  Coie was kind enough to hold down the fort while just me and Geo got away for a couple days.  We hadn't done that in years.  We almost didn't know what to do with ourselves.  Almost.  We figured out a few things we could do.  So all in all our Mini Pre Anniversary / Work Date was highly enjoyable.  Plus, we got to hang out with Sue and Brad Becker from The Bread Beckers.  That was cool.  They were lots of fun, and I got me a new Wonder Mill to grind up all the wheat we just bought up.  YeeHiggity-Hoggity-Haw!  I mean… ahem… 'delicate clap clap, how enchating for us, we're quite delighted'.

TRUST ME! Georgia is waaay more hillbilly than Tennessee! Okay, they are really tied for that honor. You must have been in some weird cultural bubble if you didn’t run into the trailer with a dozen parked cars and a pitbull and bulldozer parked in front…oh, and these trailers are usually just down the street from a $300K house! And if you still don’t believe me, just ask someone “Who’s on the pole?”

Enjoy your new mill. I’m about to order the Vitamix Super 5000 and it has the dry blade attachment…mayhaps I will be grinding a little bit of grain with you. Let the bread wars begin!!! mwahahahahahahah!!!!

(Although you have the advantage since Coie the Cookster could help you).

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, my friend! I hope you have a fabulous time with your honey-bunny-pookey-wookey-Geoff-the-Greatest. 🙂

    Love,

    Marshie

    Happy Anniversary!

I made some bread from my freshly ground Breadbeckers grain Friday and put a picture of it on my blog. 🙂

I hadn’t made bread for so long. It tasted so good and made the whole house smell yummy. My kids are begging me to bake some more today.

    Welcome to Georgia!

We live about an hour southwest of the Bread Becker’s store! Glad that you and Geo are enjoying your pre-anniversary. Oh, BTW, if you drive around Georgia long enough, you’ll find the trailers with 15 cars without tires in the yard (the tires are usually somewhere on the property though!) Havea safe trip back!

    Been to Georgia many times

It is much as you described TN. We used to say in Florida that the only thing GA was good for was to provide extra billboard space for Florida (no offense to those from GA).

My husband has applied for a transfer to Knoxville. Which option are you using to homeschool there? We are looking at option 3, as it is the least intrusive, but wanted to get your opinion.

Too funny. My kids and I have been laughing about being hillbillies lately. We actually live in suburbia (gag) but my hubby is ALWAYS bringing home booty of one kind or another (cast-offs from friends mostly) and ALWAYS puts it right in front of our garage door for all the neighborhood to see. A couple of weeks ago, we actually had a washing machine out in front of the house. I told the kids we were true hillbillies now that we had a major appliance in the frontyard. Sigh. We’d fit right in in TN.

    Blessings,

    Courtney

I think Rebecca from zeahrenaissance.blogspot.com is going to be waiting a while. :+)

Hey, what you really ought to be saying is a very British, “Huzzah! Huzzah!”

That is really the only way to cheer something correctly.

    Welcome back to civilization.

    I just realized something. . .

You have the shortest blog name of all my friends. I am being very observant today.

I hope you are having tons o’ fun pretendin’ to be a city chick again, tho now that I think about it, you are probably already back in hickville. Hey, abandoned trucks, covered with kudzu do have their own bit of charm and mystery.

    Photo and 50 word something

    Hello Jen,

This is Stephanie Johnson, I’ve emailed you before, thanking you for writing one of your articles. hehe I’m sure you get that a LOT though. Anyway, Ashley (PinkFlamingo) told me that you would be interested in a photo of me and 50 words about what I’m doing now that I’m graduated, and what my future plans might be, or just plain thanking my parents or something. I will be very happy to do that.

I am supposed to have it emailed to you by this afternoon, correct? I’ll try my best to get it done this morning. I’m just wondering if there is anything more specific that I should know, or is that about it? Just let me know.

    My email address is krowned1@yahoo.com

Thanks! You should be getting an email from me shortly. (If all goes well.)

    God Bless!

    ~Stephanie

When travelling out of Florida as a kid, we always knew when we hit Georgia. “Smells like we’re in Georgia!” Now grown, I realize it was paper mill smell, but I still associate it with Georgia. Poor misunderstood state! Ah, but to go shopping in Atlanta….be still my heart!
