Brace Yourself
My beautful daughter, Ryann, has a very expensive mouth. How come braces are so phenomenally expensive? I should just have Geoff and Coie weld her a pair. It can't be that hard. Tomorrow is our East TN Bloggers Picnic; if you are in the area, please come and play with us. It's a fun group, we're looking forward to seeing all of our friends and me and Gena are bringing some fun giveaways. And the weather has been GREAT. It's actually cold this morning. My toesies are all nippityish. Lastly, let me know if your homeschool group would like to have Gena come and speak. We got together with a group in Georgia on Monday and it was such a blessing to meet (and spend time) with other homeschoolers. Her talk is entirely fascinating and we'd love to meet you! Lastly last, I have three HomeschoolBlogger t-shirts to give away, but here's the catch, I want YOU to pick a blogger to win them. I thought that'd be a neat way to check out some new blogs that I may not be familiar with. So let's hear it, which blogger would you like to see win a prize?

Oh! Pick Beth! She needs a lift! Please?!?!

I don’t even want to *think* about braces – my oldest’s teeth are so crooked the dentist told us to be prepared for her first visit to the orthodontist next year, when she turns EIGHT. Yikes.
Hey – Stop by for ADD Awareness Day!

At a hen’s pace is one of my favorite blogs, one of the first I ever read. She is doing sonlight this year, I think. Pick her, Pick her. I don’t know her real name, I just call her ‘hen”. oops, almost forgot her address…it’s http://www.atahenspace.blogspot.com
blessings to you today,
Jenny in Ca (www.homeiswhereyoustartfrom.blogspot.com) -come visit!!!!

Oh yeah, those HSB t-shirts. I was gonna get one’a them to wear at our homeschool convention back in June and completely forgot til this moment. My blog is in extended hibernation, but if I launch my homeschool business this winter, I promise to start blogging again in earnest.
It would be awesome to get Gena to speak here in Cleveland, problem being, we dont belong to any homeschool groups. There are a couple in the area, but they require all this money and time committment. Might as well put the little rugrats in school by the time we do all that.

Pick JustGiveMeStarbucks; she is sooo cool! Oh, wait, that’s me. Scratch that. There are so many good ones to pick from, but I really like AcceptanceWithJoy. Besides blogging, she’ll actually do some teaching in her posts. Not sure if she intends for it to be teaching, but I usually learn something new when I read her blog, whether it’s about homeschooling high school or the subject of covenant (her topic for the past couple of days), etc. Besides, she’s been having a tough time lately and could use the pick-me-up, I’m sure. 🙂

Picnic etc.
We were all set to come to the bloggers’ picnic but then realized we had signed up for a field trip….we’re still considering not going to the field trip…. And YES, we would like Gena to speak at our group, and Paul, too. A weeknight in January would be excellent. How about the week of January 14 (any time that week–Tuesdays and Thursdays are probably best).

I've got a friend
I have a friend that would be great to win a t-shirt. Her blog is http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/SunnySpots/ she hasn’t been able to write a whole lot because she is always busy helping others. But I think she would make a great winner!

Hey!
I have a great idea. Why don’t you and Gena and children all come here and “speak” to my homeschool group–wink wink. I will server my famous dinner (er, I mean, snacks for the crowd…)
Hint hint…

Kindred Heart
You gotta pick Nikki at Kindred Heart. http://homeschoolblogger.com/KindredHeart/
Even if you don’t pick her, you will be blessed by reading her blog. Her sweet spirit shines through each entry. I’ve met Nikki in person and “know” her from the FIAR boards. She is just as sweet in person as she is on her blog. She used to have the song “Legacy” or something like that, I don’t know the title. And I always thought how appropriate that song was for her blog. Her and her husband are leaving a wonderful legacy.

Braces is word that strikes fear into my heart. Crooked, gapped teeth run in the Williams family.
I am planning on coming tomorrow, so if ya’ll get there and I am not there, call me. Because it probably meant that I forgot about it.

Weather’s great here, too, except that Mom made me shut my window because apparently the draft was chilling the whole house. I love it. If I had my way I wouldn’t shut my window till mid-December. (And yes, I am in Canada.)

I would like to tell you about Gina at Merry Menagerie (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/knowjc4peace/). She has been blogging here at HSB since May 2006. Her husband had the vision for the Homeschool Baseball team that we are playing with this Fall (and I hope through high school – if their willing to keep us and put up with us….LOL!). They are really an awesome family of 6 children and I really stand in awe of all they do. I knew Gina through a local hs email group list first, then HSB and then I finally got to meet her a couple of weeks ago when we were working and selling barbeque for our team’s fundraiser.

How about you give a t-shirt to Jengresak? She’s my favorite new friend, and has a really entertaining blog. Plus, her name’s Jen – so she must be related to you or something.
I would absolutely LOVE to have Gena come speak to our homeschool group! We have about 50 families in our support group – up from 8 families just a little over 2 years ago! And our Low-Country Christian Home Educators group is hundreds of families strong. We could make it a real whiz-bang affair! And if she throws a few “y’alls” into her talk, she might get the key to the city! Shrimp and grits, Gena, shrimp and grits….it’s WAY better than it sounds…Ãœ

I, too, nominate Jengresak…We’ve just met on hsb and she is so much fun. If you haven’t seen the photo of her DD in the fairy outfit….oh, it is precious!!
My DS has braces, too…the payments are killing us! I could buy a car with that stupid payment.
Plus, think about it…$5,000 for un-bent paper clips glued to their teeth? C’mon, metal is not that expensive!
Course, when DH sees the orthodontist with a tan, talking about the cruise she took all while staring at her mercedes out the back window of the office, he gets a bit miffed.

We just finished paying for oldest boy’s braces last spring. His braces were even more expensive due to our moving here and the new ortho pretty much starting me over on paying even tho I’d had only about $500 left at the old one. UGH! Something to remember next time I decide to move!
Have you been to a NotGrass history program? Wondering about the one on Oct 13….(tis in TN so I thought you might have heard something about it.)
Oh, I don’t have a hs group but y’all can come talk to me anytime! lol

We are about to put braces on mouth number 7. My husband is talking about pliers and his workshop. How much could metal cost??????? What happened to the days when you could have buck teeth and the worse that happened was that you were nick-named “Bucky”?
I think you should donate the t-shirt to the next person you see holding a sign that says
“Will work for money”. He needs the shirt and think of all the free advertising.
And also lastly, would anyone come to West (forsaken) Virginia to speak?

You ever consider speaking to groups in Canada? I don’t know for sure if I can get anything together, but if I could, I think there would be a lot of people here interested.

nsremom
It’s so hard to think of who to nominate but after deliberating for a couple of days, I finally decided to nominate nsremom. I like her style and she makes me laugh! Being one of those types of people who finds it much easier to cry than laugh, I always appreciate the people who bring laughter to my life.

t-shirt
Well…most of the ones I’d suggest out of hand you already know, so how about Mrs. Incredible? She’s more of a newbie. Or Aiboon…she’s such a sweetie!

eww… Braces.
Yes, we did that with 1dd for about 4 years, but that was because she sucked her finger, and they weren’t going to move back on their own.
The same dentist told us that 2dd15 needed braces, too, when she was about 9. We declined, though she had one tooth that stuck out a bit. We decided to wait it out, b/c I had heard from several Moms who had similar experiences with their young children, and had waited, and their teeth moved into place as their mouths grew. 2dd’s has too, and it looks fine.
But, yes, THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
And, as far as the HSB tshirts… 2dd15 asked me a few weeks ago if anyone was giving one away, and we looked around, but to no avail, so I know she would love one!
And, of course, 1dd16 and 3dd12 would be jealous, so you could just save on postage and send them all to the same place!
Not really! But, they would love to have one! Then, they could be like their Momma!
And, 4ds9 was looking at my shirt the other day, and said… LOOK! MOM! Bookfreak is on your Homeschoolblogger tshirt!! It was cute.
Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog. I do appreciate it.
Be Blessed!

What a pain braces have been in our family! SA’s brace just broke the other day. I don’t think my teeeh look that great… but I am just vain! “I’m so vain… I bet I think this song is about me…”
Anyway, Here are a couple of bloggers (Since everyone voted for a couple) that I think would like a HSB t-shirt and you would like them….
GiftedGirl because she did a Dr. Pepper blog for me!
Tatertots because she is sooooo sweet and I love her!
Sharla88 because she is very sweet but she doesn’t have many poeple that vist her… and she would like that!
Of course I would like one but you made it hard to vote for yourself! LOL I think that was “Terribly Clever!” I know whoever wins will be blessed!
And, I am having a contest and you would be the perfect contestant (Since you are always a little loopy and funny)… and maybe your kids would like to do it too! Stop by, will ya, please! I have missed you in Lorien! Here is the contest link: Birthday Party Contest and you’re invited!, 😉 Nai haryuvalyë melwa rë (May you have a lovely day)

Pick my friend
I would like the t-shirt to go to my very good friend Annette – her blog is at http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/blueskiesandlemonade She is a single mom and I know that her children come first in everything she does. She deserves a treat today. SO please pick her!! Please : )
By the way. She would have been a Smoky Mountain blogger if she didn’t have to move with her children. Another reason she deserves it!

I think midwifemom should win a t-shirt. I also think everyone of you should go over to her blog (www.homeschoolblogger.com/midwifemom/) and say hi. She has been here since the beginning of August, and I can probably count on one hand how many comments she has received. AND I am the only friend on her list!

Having Gena speak
Masters Touch in Wisconsin would love to have Gena come speak. We have 60 members in our group but also network with tons of other homeschoolers & groups throughout the southeastern Wisconsin area.
We have been able to bless other groups & families by having other local and national speakers come because our church has been so great letting us use the facility for free. And we have an awesome conference/speaker committee to make anyones visit easy & pleasant as can be. (sorry we can’t do anything about the weather, but spring up here is not too bad!)

Hey!
We had our picnic this weekend and it was great! Perfect day, perfect friends. I want you and Gena to come to my support group and speak. I won’t take no for an answer dahling.
Braces are expensive, speaking of mouth investments. My Girl 1 has had braces, broken teeth that needed to be fixed and a horrible genetic gum problem that required surgery. When we run out of money we are going to mortgage her mouth.
Abiding in the Vine!
