Watch Out Bluedorns…. I’m READY For You Now
Over the weekend my family learned the Virginny Reel. Below, you’ll see Julia Suraez and Julia G as the flawlessly performing lead couple, sashaying along with my Tennessee posse that I’m bringing up for the Hoe-down Show-down.
Oh Bluedorns… I bet you’re shaking in your dance shoes now! Watch closely; you’ll also see Coie (jean skirt black shirt) and Ryann (green sweater white skirt) twirling and leaping and catapulting as if they were made to dance this very dance. And we even went home and practiced. Just wait until you see Geoff the Great in his first ever public dancing debut, you’ll be fully astonished. What. A. Man.
And, here am I, along with my valiant, oldest son, BoBo, as the lead couple. I like this dance…. Just look how many countering positions I am able to indicate at once – head; shoulders; knees; elbows; feet – all going in completely different directions. I’m a regular Gumby doll!
And now! rumor even has it that Jay from Cleveland and HIS whole family is going to make it! Jay… I promise not to talk about chewing on my toenails if you promise to control yourself about any talk regarding big hairy oozing goober back zits. guh-ROS
If you haven't yet reserved your family for the barn dance, you really ought to do that right now. |

Oh wow, that looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! Seriously, do you ever have a boring day at your house?
And yes, if Coie painted ya green you would definitely be Gumby-esque!
Okay, if Jay makes it, and then you have the Bluedorns, Igsuarez’s, and Smoky Mtn clan, I will feel completely, totally, and utterly like a left-out-loser! *sigh*
Perhaps a video of you and GTG breakdancing will cheer me up. I take that back, a video of that WILL cheer me up!
Love,
Marshie

Wow, you Ig people really do move and make noise and stuff, huh? Video is much cooler than still pix. OK Jen, it’s a deal — only edifying speech that evening (yeah, right!)
So we’re gonna try to come, but I don’t actually have to dance, right? I never promised actual dancing! BTW, do we have to sign up after you and Gena both made public spectacles of our attendance?

I can do a dance to that one song, “Head Shoulders Knees and Toes…Knees and Toes”….it’s so cool. And Jay better keep away from the salsa and guacamole with his back issues. Ewwww. Don’t want ANYTHING dropping into those vats of chip dip. I think that just because it’s a barn dance doesn’t mean people can come lookin’ like hillbillies. No shirts, no shoes, no service.

Will not work for me! That is supremely unfair. Please email it to me!
Love you,

OK, nevermind
It worked, but for some reason, unknown to this cable-using internet person, it took forever to load. HOW FUN! We did that with the J’s last Easter. What a fun dance! I did not see Geoff. I will have to watch again.
Now, who were you with? I know you probably cannot say all their names here, but you can email me! Hint hint… :+)
Love yer guts,

you are one dancing chick!
My Mom made a dress for Rebekah that just screams Virginia Reel. I put a pic on my blog just so YOU could see it. Wowsers. It has hoops and everything.

It took me like eleven tries to get that little video to work. My computer just would NOT open it. Finally saw it, though. Julie looks like a little angel. She was gushing about the barn dance this morning!

I’ve been known to do the “Hokey Pokey” and the “Bird Dance” at weddings, but have two left feet for everything else.
Gena, what do you mean “back issues”? Like copies of last year’s TOS? Anyway, hopefully my one zit a month won’t occur that weekend, but even if it does, I don’t anticipate a problem as long as I don’t take off my shirt in front of everyone and lean over backwards over your salsa and guac dip. I’ll try hard to resist the temptation!

Kaitlyn also learned it at a bday party a few years back! What fun!

Looks like a lot of fun. Reminds me of my Civil War reenacting. I’m sure you’ll all have fun at the hoe down. Too bad it’s too far for us to travel and get back in time for our other commitments..

Too cool!!! I am so sorry my family won’t be there for the fun! And Jay, just so you know, the humidity is still awful, traffic is more horrendous than ever, and the cost of living hasn’t improved any. But the museums are the coolest and they’re all free! Karen

Save Bobo From a Tummy Ache
We need more folks… attendees, to enter the pie eating contest.
10 pies and one Bobo don’t add up…
Who will help with this problem??????
Is Jen making her curry ‘possum pies for the contest?
We need to think of a good prize for the winner.
By the way, there she (Laurie Bluedorn) goes again with her challenges:

Thank you for visiting my bloggy again. You guys are having a real hoot. But I’m wondering who’s doing that great fiddling? Now they should be on the video too. (Unless it’s a recording…

Jay, If you don’t dance you have to buy 20 pies and 15 gift baskets instead. And participate in the pie eating contest.

That looks like a lot of fun! If we weren’t supposed to go camping, I’d see if we could make it. Is Coie going to the writing seminar in Gatlinburg? Ashley is probably going, but I was hoping to find someone she could hang out with insted of being alone. Any thoughts?

How fun! Square dancing was part of PE in jr. high and it was so much fun, ‘cept the boys wouldn’t hold our hands – unless of course the girl was a cheerleader 🙂 I was ping pong champ of 7th grade, cheerleaders are not ping pong athletes. Anyhow, you guys look like you are having a blast!
