A Non Titled Entry That Includes Some Horrid News
It looks like we will take a trip to MI in a few weeks and stay with my in-laws for Thanksgiving. I’m assuming you guys have in-laws too; what are they like? I’m one of those very rare unheard of specimens whom have been extraordinarily lucky in the in-law department. My MIL has been like a real mom (especially after my own mom died years ago) and her husband, my FIL, was the guy who ultimately influenced Geoff to marry me. He said, “Geoff the Great, I think you ought to tie the knot”. I will always love him for that. They are funny and fun and very loving and supportive and they are easy to beat at pinochle. I am looking forward to our trip.
In other news… I have a grave confession to make. I nearly decided against telling it, lest you think me what I am: an irresponsible non-farm animal overseer. It was bad enough when we took Gena’s dumb dog, Liesel, after their landlord wouldn’t let them have pets. She had just had a bucket of puppies a year earlier and then right when we got her she decided to have seven more (just a few months ago). Well… we had kept two of the mutts from last year’s bucket of puppies and last night one of them had NINE puppies of her own. NINE. Whoever heard of a puppy having NINE dogs in her first litter? ARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!
I am seriously pulling my hair out. Just last month me and geo had determined to take Liesel and the two girl puppies to the vet so this type of thing wouldn’t happen. But alas. It seems it is our destiny to single-handedly over-populate Tennessee with dumb, very fertile, dogs.
PS Emmiko is SO excited… her dress that we listed on HomeschoolBuy is up to $30 !!! holy smokers!

Wow, good thing humans don’t have them nine at a time, or else you’d have 54 Ig babies by now!
In case you need another side trip this Thanksgiving after dropping in on Super Angel, you guys are still welcome over this way anytime. Wish we could see y’all at the barn dance, but Grandma wigs out about enough stuff even when she’s not having eye surgery, so we need to stick close to home as usual instead of like having “fun” or anything like that. Have a nice trip. -j

Me thinketh that you forgeteth that I don’t like dogs. . .
Is this an attempt to keep me away permenantly?
Seriously, the pound is a good option here. Have Coie do it. She is strong and not the over-emotional type. 9 puppies?!? Isn’t there some sort of organization that fights against this type of thing. Oh yeah, Bob Barker.
Go watch some Price is Right.
Can you sell those puppies on HomeschoolBuy?

If it has ever been your heart’s desire to visit the glorious northern side of the border (yes–Canada!), we live literally a block over the border from the Detroit Bridge. And meeting you would be awfully fun :).

Sorry to hear about your dog problem nad sorry that I cannot help you. 5 birds, 1 dog 1 cat and three chickens will have to do for now here!
I have absolutely wonderful in laws also.
This may not be the right place to do this, but I wanted to tell you thanks for the recent editorial in TOS magazine. I have read your editorial twice now and think I just may read it one more time to make sure the meaning is permanently imprinted on my brain! I am the oldest of six children. Growing up, my parents were in most ways absent from their roles. We were very poor because my parents chose to spend the little money we had on alcohol and drugs. Being the oldest sibling, I often found myself in the caretaker role for the younger ones. In spite of that, my dream of all dreams was to grow up and be a mommy! Today I have four children and a wonderful husband. I feel very blessed. However, I have spent much time and energy on making sure my children have everything I didn’t have and on making sure they don’t have the responsibility I had. What a mistake! Your article helped me to see that it wasn’t the lack of “things” or heavy responsibilities that brought pain to my heart, it was the lack of love and nurturing from my parents. What joy it brought my young heart to love my siblings and to be there to care for them when nobody else could! And I can so clearly remember my first paycheck from my first job going to buy that pair of sandals that my parents never could’ve bought for me. Then there was the paycheck at Christmas that bought gifts for all of my siblings when I knew they would have little else. Those were blessings that God chose to share with me in the midst of a lonely childhood. I am a much richer person for those experiences. And here I am in a position to give my children love and security, as well as a chance to experience a richer life of “less”! Interestingly, we just began reading Where the Red Fern Grows and one of our discussion questions was “Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would be willing to work and save for two years for it? Or is there something you want that much now?” Both of my sons were stumped to think of anything. Maybe that speaks of hearts that aren’t concerned with things, but I am afraid it speaks of hearts that have received so often, that they have yet had a chance to truly “long” for them. Thank you for sharing, as a true friend would. Hearing the truth isn’t always comfortable, but it is always good!

At least you don’t have rabbits! Oi veh! I can only imagine the hordes of herds of rabbits…
Okay, you know what Bob Barker always says you should do…
And yes, I can believe that the famous back-then dress is up to so many dineros…that is a LOVELY dress! And I think the darling girl who modeled it should get a hefty comission!
Hope you have an absolutely lovely week, my dear and fantastically funny friend!
Love,
Marshie– who is also blessed with wonderful in-law’s…truly wonderful…

One more thing…
…I meant for you to scroll down when you click the link… Well, I guess you could give them up for adoption but I was referring to the spay/neuter thing.
You can probably search around and find a vet/group that will do the service for free or cheap as well.

Just have to share a tidbit I learned when we had our kitty “fixed”. An average dog and her offspring can have 67,000 puppies in their lives. So, just think, if you hang on to those puppies, you’ll be like 101 doggies in no time! Cats are even worse, their numbers get to like 184,000 or some ridiculous, frightening population! Then again, these could just be “scare tactics” to convince me to have it done to our beloved pets!

In-Laws
I too have wonderful In-laws. My MIL introduces me as her “best” daughter-in-law-in the world. She also told me (when I first married her son) that she would have picked me for him. She spoils me rotten, takes care of my kids, and even understands when I’m frustrated with her son. My FIL is just as great. I do realize that I am very blessed indeed!

LOL!
Aw rats…Too bad we live so far away…my kids have been begging for a dog!
What kids of pups are they ( besides ‘dumb’) 😉
I had a ‘dumb’ dog as a child. That dog couldn’t remember where her own food bowl was, and she would run into walls. I loved that dog so much, but she drove my mom nuts!

which?
which is the horrid news, visiting Michigan, or the puppies?
I’ll vote for puppies. Michigan isn’t that bad. Where in Michigan? Are you going to organize some “Come Meet The Famous JenIG” event? We could print your picture from your blog and you could autograph it, and we could all blog about the thrill of meeting the famous JenIG.
Um, if you want, I can give you two cats. Maybe they will eat the extra puppies. Or, more likely, the puppies could eat the cats. They are very fat cats, so it would save you a lot of money in puppy feeding. And then I wouldn’t have to blog about the poopcident.

I would like to see pictures of those puppies. Regardless of what kind of dog, puppies are almost always cute. :+)
Miss you!

No, Kate, not these pups. They are definitely NOT cute. They look half aardvark. And their mother is even uglier. Jen is so irresponsible for letting her mutts over-breed like this. It’s embarrassing. Oh wait, I gave her all those dogs. Never mind. They’re actually kinda cute, after all. I like aardvarks.

Your homeschool minute snippet
Wow, you are such a great mommy…water, flour, chocolate, plus one little boy…while you’re trying to do lessons? Sounds like such fun for him!
I was thinking more along the lines of sticking Dozer on the back deck with a couple bowls of water (one soapy, one clean) and actually putting the boy to WORK washing our breakfast dishes!
As always, I enjoy your writing and a peek into your life. You and Gena are just SO fun!
Love,
Marshie– who is now thinking of gingersnaps that were made where??? and by whom???
