Weird People Are More Creative
That was a headline when I pulled up my homepage. Maggie Hogan is one of the most creative people I've ever met. Anyhow, I went to the posty today and just guess what was there? A present! for me!! How I love getting presents. Maggie Hogan sent me the perfect book — one that I can understand (written for ages 6-9) called, The Scrambled States of America. My kids already read it (and laughed–it's funny), especially at the comments that Maggie inserted throughout. THANKS my weird friend. You made my day. The other book looks loads of fun, too. How I love getting a present. This has inspired me to give away some presents today, too. I have PROMO PACKS for three of you. If you would like me to send you (or a friend of your choice) $300 of free curriculum from 19 different companies leave me a comment (and if you don't currently have a subscription to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, I will include that as well). How about this…. tell me about someone you love, who makes you laugh and/or who blesses you (whether it's your husband, sister, or your friend or Bill Cosby or whomever) and I'll randomly pick three in about three days or so, and then email you to get your addy and then send you your present. You can thank Maggie for inspiring me to be so give-y today. Bless others and Be Blessed! And if you already got a promo packet, then still leave a comment. If you don't want the gifts, I will send them to a friend of your choice.

Okay, I Couldn't Resist!
I was just posting a companion post about counting blessings and making sure the link worked, and here was this awesome opportunity from you!!!
My husband is the one who can make me laugh until I cry, pee my pants, and split my sides. It is that kind of belly laugh that comes from deep down inside, and you couldn't stop it if you wanted to. When we were younger and dating, he used to come up to me in a store and feign a mental disability – and in this crazy voice he would come up to me and put his head down, and say "Will you go out with me?" and I would respond by hitting him for acting foolish – and then people would look at me like I was some sort of freak. He has always made up crazy songs to sing to me and our kids, and makes up weird games and sounds purerly for their enjoyment. I think he is a great guy. Even when we have a disagreement, he can pull it out by making me laugh – either at him or myself. He really is a great guy, and I love him more every day!
(Just in case anyone was offended, my husband grew up with a mentally disabled brother – and he wasn't making fun – just being silly!)

Hey Jen!
What a great idea… I would like to submit my post about 101+ Reasons why I LOVE my Hubby, as my entry for who blesses me the most – him, and why. And if you pick me, since I'm already receiving that AWESOME TOS mag., I'll give my prize to my brother, and sister-in-law, who've recently started homeschooling. He's in college full-time, and she's a SAHM w/3 little ones – he's working on his masters of physics, and getting a hard time from his prof. for homeschooling too. They could really use the encouragement that TOS would bring!

Oh, please consider giving a promo pack to my "aunt." Cathy is a new homeschooler to her little ones. Her user name is JandLsMom. She's married to my uncle but they're my age so I don't call them aunt and uncle. LOL Anyway, she does not have a subscription to the magazine yet. I just recently got my first one and was going to suggest it to her but have not yet. 🙂
Anyway, Cathy and her husband, Paul, have been such a blessing to us. When Paul was still single he was always taking us out to eat. He said that he had not been blessed with a family yet and so he liked to bless our family. He was one of the few family members that visited us when we lived in Utah (and the family was in CA).
When we started dating Cathy I was so excited. Cathy is my age and we get along so great! They are wonderful Christians and we always enjoyed visiting with them so much. I was really bummed to leave them when we moved to CA. She recently told me that my husband and I had influenced them to think and research homeschooling and they had made the decision to do it! I was so thrilled for them! 🙂
Oh and by the way:
Tag, You're It!!
Please answer all of these questions, then if you want to, send it to 5-20 other bloggers. Please title the post "Sprite's Silly Tag Questions", so that Sprite can serch for them and see all who have been tagged! Thank you!

I hate being like everbody else!
But I have to say the hubby. SO FUNNY, he really makes the mundaneness (is that a word) of life bearable. We laugh all the time, but getting ready for bed is usu. the funniest. I was just rolling last night with tears too. The american idol impressions, the fake video practices at that hour for his new video series to make all your body parts symmetrical, making fun of the colonics place here in town!!!!!!! OK, anyway, that's my vote and what a blessing he is as well. I kinda feel sorry for everybody else. Well, today was obviously a good day. 🙂

I feel so at home on your blog.
Just when I was thinking it was weird to be weird. 😛
I actually popped over to tell you I read a bit more in TOS finally, and lo, and behold, there was another by you. It was JUST what I needed today (the one about finding a stranger). I can't tell you how much, but I was in public and had to blink back the tears. Thank you.
I need more curricula like a hole in my head, but I have 2 friends who just started homeschooling, so I'll answer for their sakes. I'm having trouble narrowing it down to just one person, but today I pick my 18 month old dd (just posted a pic last night). I love her so much, and she was an answer to many, many prayers. She has the quirkiest personality that just makes me love her all the more and laugh in spite of myself several times a day. She blesses me daily, because she reminds me that God didn't forsake me, and when I am all frustrated with my disorganized self and getting rather crabby, I'll feel this little hand on me and a tiny voice (ok.. not *always* tiny) says, "Mama. Mama." I just melt, and I am humbled and reminded once again of God's blessings in my life.

I LOVE presents!
But guess what…I already have a promo pack comin' and my subscription is for about three or so years! I'd give it away to someone though.
So…I want to say that I am grateful for and blessed by my husband. He is so sweet! Even though he has to walk MILES up to the top of a mountain to get cell phone range, he still does it most days to call and check on us. (He has been elk hunting for the past two weeks)
When he called today he told me "thank you" for being such a patient wife and not having difficulties while he's away to make him feel guilty and come home. He said he wanted me to know that he loved me more than anything and I should know for a truth that he would do anything for me.
Now- isn't that romantical and sweet?! Warmed me up pretty good. I feel like a queen agian. "Queen of Quite Alot". Yup.

Oh Jen…
YOU, YOU, YOU make me laugh (boy if that doesn't get me some goodies, I don't know what will…) oh did I type that out loud? Seriously…you do make me laugh, but you don't have to pick me — I'm already a faithful TOS lover & subscriber! I just wanted to get in on the fun!

embracing weirdness….
is like giving me a hug….no really it is….ask julie she knows….anyways this tri-tattooed…weird-haired 28yo momma to 4 thinks thta she would like to say that her husband makes her laugh the most….but that would not be true….my munchkins make me laugh the most…and have been the most growth inducing force in my life EVER….(yes i keep making the mistake of praying for patience…..when WILL i ever learn….)without the birth of my oldest i would probably be dead in a ditch somewhere or incarcerated…and i am not joking. but jokingly now…how can you not laugh at a girl who says"mommy i think that god forgot to make it fall…doesn't he know that the leaves are supposed to be turning colors in fall?" or another little girl who says "this is my imaginary friend shirley….she's imaginary cause she's in my head….mommy don't sit on shirley…." or even another little girl who says to her scared of the dark big sister "rrrrrrrr…i'm a cary monter…..hehehe i'm a baaaad maaan….it's okay chloe its not cary…." so yes it's them that make me laugh…(as a side note i have no fun pack nor subscription to TOS at this point :(….but i would like one..hint hint hint )

I have so many that bless me in my life…
but my husband blesses me the most. I am a pretty serious person and he keeps me from being too serious and especially from taking myself too seriously. He accepts me just the way I am and just prays for me in areas that might concern him (though I wouldn't know that there are any from how he treats me). He is a cleany and a white tornado and to this messy mom that is a blessing because he doesn't criticize me but pitches in and helps me to get it done. I'll be thinking I need to get a load of laundry going and get there and it is washing already. I'll be thinking I need to grab the broom as soon as I'm done with what I'm doing and turn around and he is already sweeping the floor. He loves his children and they fight over who gets to sit next to daddy. If there is a choice between being with daddy or mommy, they choose daddy. He jokes with me about it, concerned that I might feel bad, but I am so happy that they love their daddy like that. He gets them library books when he is in town and then gets most of them read before mommy gets to it. He is getting very good at reading children's books! He encourages me to write, to call my friends, to grow. We love to sit down and talk about what Father is doing in our lives, what He is teaching us, about what is going on in the world and what the implications might be. My husband is a watcher. He is always checking his news sites. He loves watching people. He boldly speaks up for the truth. He is a compassionate listener and has lots of wisdom to share when someone wants to hear it. I am so blessed by this man. I'm grateful that my Father united my life with his and that He has made us a team. I'm sure the years ahead will be exciting ones.
Love and shalom,
Serena

Jen, what a great idea!! :0) I love my hubby dearly, but the one that I must choose is my bestest girl friend…Cindy. We have been friends for many many moons and she does make me laugh so very hard. We talk on the phone and we laugh, we go out for coffee and we laugh, we are in church…and yes, we laugh!! :0) Many people think that we are real flesh and blood sisters, because we are so close and apparently so corney. LOL She has blessed me and my family in more ways then I can count, but I will share a couple that stand out with you. When we were low on money she took me to the grocery store and I could buy as many groceries as I wanted and then she even took me out for coffee. When my mom was severly ill in the hospital and I couldn't drive down to see her, she left work early and brought me all the way to Mass (3 hours away) and spent the day just hanging out in the hospital and yes, when she was there she even managed to make my mom smile. She has been there for us (my whole family) through thick and thin, she has ministered greatly to us and I truly appreciate her. If she homeschooled I would gladly give the prize to her, but she does not. I looked at the prize and there are things that we could use, and the others I will gladly give away. I already have a subscription to TOS magazine, but I would definatly give mine to her. She is one of most adament supporters and she also loves the magazine (yes, she has read mine) ;0)

Weird People are my Favorites
As soon as I read "weird people are more creative" I thought of a friend of mine who is also the mother of my daughter's best friend. She is weird in a good way though. She makes me rethink things that I have always taken for granted. She has a great sense of humor and she is so good about not letting the unexpected get her upset. She is very creative and is always doing some sort of craft with the kids. She just started homeschooling last year but she really inspires me with great ideas.

I'm undeserving–
As I've had such an unbelievable week, but as I don't have a subscription yet, I'll try!
I'm so very blessed to have married just the right one for me. He goes along with some of my wildest ideas, yet keeps me back when the ideas are not good. I'm so glad that even tho for the most part he isn't all that adventurous–he had the vision to bring us here to VA from Maine. That he did not allow me to talk us out of it (LOL) and that he is such a wonderous dad to our children. Having not had a 'real' dad (only a stepdad who wasn't what he ought to have been by a long shot!) I am often amazed by him. He is my best friend.

I vote for…
Momma2theMax…..Jen she really is "this tri-tattooed…weird-haired 28yo momma to 4" and she deserves a really neat gift of a subscription to TOS — she is one of the funniest people I know — next to you of course JenIg — and her kids are so so cute — just check out her blog! And she's the hippest momma I know — yep before I even met her for real, I saw her in Target with 2 little kiddos and her cute little outfit on and her cute little tummy sticking out being pregnant w/kiddo #3 (she has since had kiddo #4 finally a boy!) and I thought to myself — "Wow, that has got to be the hippest pregnant mother I have ever seen in my life!" and she was talking so sweetly to her little girls…..(I caught her on a good day 🙂 then I met her at church one day — our hubby's knew each other — and lo & behold…she's sweet & a Christian on top of that! And now she's my friend! And she's had a tough year…so JenIg I vote for her….

Does a second comment get me added twice??
<blush> You can't blame me for trying!!! I have insomnia – maybe it was that coffee I drank at dinnertime – but I can't sleep – and I just posted a bizarre, and rambling post on my blog. Check it out – if you think weird people are more creative – you may change your mind!!!

My 15 and 12 year old sons
are the ones who make me laugh. During family Bible time, I almost cannot sit next to my 15 year old son. When we quote Scripture, if either one of us makes the slightest error, we both lose it, much to the chagrin of Dad! The 12 year old is so off the wall whacky that you can't help but laugh around him. He is 110% boy and loves to make us all laugh!

Who makes me laugh?
My hysterically funny daughter! Picture this…for the first 9 months or so she barely cracks a smile. She just sat there taking everything in. We thought she was going to be the next great thinker…write theological treasties or something. Not quite. Instead we have found out 4 years later that I gave birth to Carol Burnette Jr. One cozy evening she escaped from the bath tub and streaked through the house coming to a stop right in front of me. She turned around, like she was going to moon me or something, and proceeded to do a unique butt wiggle (I guess it would be less offensive to say rear end wiggle). I laughed so hard that I was literally curled up on the floor. My dear hubby gave me a stern lecture on how unbecoming that "dance" was to a young lady which of course made me laugh harder. To this day when she think I am acting too serious, she will hike up her dress and wiggle that tushy in my face.
Her theatrics are equally comical. She is destin for broadway (that's what she thinks anyway) so she comes up with these elaborately choreographed dances. The last one consisted of the phrase : Tasha T , oh yeah, Tasha T, oh yeah, Tasha T…..log on! The log on being punctuated by a John Travolta move. (WHERE does she get this stuff? Elmo?) Obviously "T" was the letter of the day.
She does make life exciting!

My sister….
My sister and I are closer now then we have ever been. I am 9 years older than she is and its nice to finally be so close. Our kids are about the same age. She calls me for advice and sometimes just to talk in the morning and share a cup of coffee and watch the Price is Right together.. she's in Southern California and I'm in Northern Nevada, lol! We laugh the whole time and its wonderful. She had a rough time a few years ago and had gotten into some trouble with drugs. I loved her and encouraged her and it has made all the difference. Today she is drug free and is a wonderful mommy to her great kids and a wonderful wife and an amazing sister!!!

So I finally
get back into the blog world (Took a hiatus while JB was home) and the FIRST THING I SEE IS a Blog about WIERD and MY NAME is the first name referenced??? Are you trying to start a rumor? Sheesh! I noticed that you did NOT mention the reason I sent you that child's book and that certain states were conspiculously circled so that you would, once and for all, get the "I" states straight! But we won't go to Idaho again now will we?
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it but I did it for your kids. I figured with you teaching geography I would do my small part to help. hehehehe
