I forgot that I had allergies. I was rudely reminded yesterday en route to the Sevier County homeschool baseball game. And even now, my eyes are all gummy. Gross. How can it be allergy season already? It just leapt straight from Winter to Summer around here. It was 85 degrees yesterday — 20 degrees hotter than where we lived in California (I still listen to the news over there). I feel so gyped. Can You Come to A.T.I.C. ? Maria is letting me help with a very excellent event in May, so if you live anywhere near Sevierville, I hope you can make it! When we were in Ca, once a month our church would put out about eight tables — one for infant clothes, two for boys clothes (sorted by size), two for girls clothes, one for womens clothing and another for mens, and a table for household stuff, like lamps, curtains, pots and pans, toys, books, etc. And then after church the moms would browse thru and take whatever they needed. It was a great way for everybody to clean out their closets and de-clutter and at the same time bless others (and themselves). It was ‘All Things In Common’ (A.T.I.C) based on the verse in Acts: 2:44 "All who believed were together and had all things in common". neat, eh? Try to make it! My son, James, loves to read books; he’ll sit forever reading a stack of ’em. Lately when he finishes a book, he closes it and instead of saying, "the end" he proclaims: "Amen". Isn’t that cute? I will miss him when he is not this little anymore… |

I've been starting to have some allergies too. Ugh. Not at all nice.
A.T.I. C is a very good idea- hopefuly one that will catch on.

Just make sure no one corrects him on that one! Your kids are fun and funny– much like their parents.
What a great idea about the tables! I'll have to pass that idea along to my friends. We already do that via word of mouth at our small-ish church…but it would be great at some of the med size churches that my friends go to. It's hard being a newbie in a congregation and this would be a fun way to help others out– and I'm all for a good excuse to talk and shop/trade!

Allergies

My whole family is afflicted with allergies from March -June. Sometimes life around here is almost unbearable because they feel so bad. I tell them they are like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde because their personality changes so much. My husband becomes so irritable (that is usually my job) and the girls ages 7 & 9 act like they have the worst case of PMS. I cannot imagine how it will be later!!
Prescription Meds did not work for us (you can read my blog from this time last year if you are interested) so I researched and switched to Homeopathic allergy meds which you can get at the Health Food store in Johnson City. There are drops and a nose spray, both all natural, has all of the things you are allergic to which makes you resist them (?) . It has worked best for Daniel and the girls of anything so far. Prescription nose spray made them so forgetful, and they were so confused feeling they literally could not add 1+3 or subtract 3-1. I am not kidding!!! This school year has been much better. Let me know if you want the names of the meds.

That James sounds cute! I can't wait to meet him. My allergies are also dreadful…and I am also feeling gyped about the weather! What happened to 75 and no humidity? HUH? Although, I am thankful for my lovely screened in porch where I have spent much time the past few days visiting with my friend from Chicago.

Everything here in Alabama is covered in yellow. It's horrible. Even if you don't have allergies, it's all over everything. Ugh!

Hey Jen,
We have found that quercetin is very helpful with allergies. You can buy it from a healthfood store. Liquid absorbs better. How are the seedlings in the greenhouse doing? My sweetheart built us a greenhouse a couple of weeks ago. I am just thrilled. Loaded it with all kinds of stuff yesterday. We were planning on showing up for baseball yesterday, but my herb garden won out. It just felt so good to be home. Hope your sweet family is well.

when my son sees the color yellow he calles it yellow schoolbus (my mom taught him that, certainly it doesn't stop at the end of our driveway!) anyway, our dark blue van is so covered with pollen he has been calling it a yellow schoolbus.

Nah, clutter isn't something that gets eliminated. It's an aspect of entropy, the second law of thermodynamics — it only increases in the universe. For example, if you declutter by handing off baby clothes and someone takes them, your clutter becomes their clutter. But then you make more clutter and the net clutter of universe is thereby increased.
Deb's mom is always bringing her clutter over here, but I tell her to keep it since we already have enough clutter of our own. My neighbor's kids are teens now and he tried to declutter by giving us their old teeter-totter. I had to turn him down for the same reason.
Anyway, the Deb-striss is always "dumpster diving" — finding "great deals" at the thrift store but I won't let her bring that junk in the house because the attic and basement are already a firetrap. If we bring more junk into the house, we'll have to sit with it on our laps. I wish they'd do that "all things in common" around here so that we could offload some of our own clutter.
So how ya been? I've had zero time for blogging since the homebiz and the new job are creating a giant sucking sound from the time out of my day and the brain right out of my skull. Speaking of clutter, we now have three tall skids of homeschool curricula in our basement. But we've already sold a hundred! Only 2900 to go! Ask Gena to see hers when the come and let me know if you guys need a few more. l8r, j

Wonderful, fantabulous allergy medicine
It is called Allergiemittel by B&T Homeopathics. I am not a big fan/user of homeopathic remedies, but found this magic little pill to be the answer to my sniffling/sneezing/runny eyes, etc. It is melty tablet that can even be given safely to babies and can be taken repeatedly until the symptoms subside. (it usually takes 2 for me) I found it online and in health food stores. I hope this is helpful info. 🙂

And I hear ya on the allergy thing, we have finally lost our snow cover, and there's a lot of mold in the air form all the dead stuff on the ground from last year, and the freak 83 degree day we had last week just got everything steaming, and we had a house full of sinus headaches… ugh…
