Some Really GOOD News

My day went from zero to happy starting this morning when i did some more research.  I am now 99% sure that I do *not* have a crawly infestation in my house.  My brother-in-law came over today and guess what he found circling my entire house — especially in the area where I was hanging my clothes out to dry — POISON IVY.  You have no idea what a relief this is.  I don't care if I'm still itchy, at least i know what this blasted affliction IS! Last night and this morning I was asking God to please please please just reveal what this malady is, and I feel pretty confident that He answered me.

I'll take poison ivy over bugs ANY day.  THANK YOU all my wonderful amazing friends who have been so encouraging and such a blessing to me.  I am really blessed.  I could tell you were praying.  This is a tremendously wonderful day.  Lastly, my perfect 100% darling nephew Paulie (whoops, i'm not allowed to call him that any more) was such a huge help to me. He babysat my kids and played with them while I was dealing with all this junk.  After watching the kids all day he said, “auntie, want me to take the kids outside to play?” and I told him, “ah, paulie, I feel bad.  You don't need to do that, I can watch them now — you've been watching them all day” and he said, “auntie, there's really nothing else I'd rather do” and then he took them all out and chased them around for hours.  I am one lucky girl.

Yippee!! Glad you found the culprit! And now you know what poison ivy looks like, too!

I am happy you at least know what has brought on this plague! I’m so sorry you are still itchy though. I had a severe case of P.I. in August and I was MISERABLE so I can relate. Prednizone helped me…eventually. Praying you will get the medication you need and that the rash will be gone sooner rather than later. And what a nephew! He was the blessing you needed today. 🙂

What a blessing! Now THAT can be remedied!

And what a positively sweet and thoughtful nephew you have!!!

I am so glad that you are doing better, dear friend!

    Love

Well, at least it will go away and it sounds better than any kinda critter. ( I don’t think they have insects in TN, they’d be critters). I’m surprised that doctor didn’t know something as simple as that. Oh well. Thank the Lord for your brother in law!

    Oh, dear sweet JenIG!

When I read your last blog I just KNEW it was poison oak or poison ivy. The first year we moved on to our little homestead here I had no idea what poison oak was. I walked into a huge patch of it and blew up like a BALLOON! My husband had also stayed behind on his job and I was so dejected! What a time that was. I’m so glad you figured this all out. The cortisone shot should really help. May the Lord bless you abundantly as you face all of these new adventures! I can totally relate – like fer sure, like ya know!

    Yea!!!!

Don’t you just love it when God is so generous and answers your prayers so obviously. I’m just rejoicing with you that Paul & Paulie were able to help you so much. What a huge blessing! I saw Ryann’s post before yours so I sent her my recommendation for poison ivy! Hopefully she’ll pass it along to you.

Glad you know what you are dealing with……m

I hope you and the kids feel better soon. It’s nice to have you posting to your blog again. I enjoy reading it.

Now you have several days to get ready for the homecoming to end all homecomings. Glad your DH will be home soon! (not soon enough, I know)

    Blessings! Tami

    Jen, Jen, Jen…

didn’t your mama ever teach you, “Leaves of three, let them be.”? LOL…

no seriously, I am glad to hear that is it ONLY poison ivy. I know that can be pretty itchy.

I’d love to hang out one day this week… now that I know you don’t have cooties! Just give me a ringy ding when you are feeling up to it. Maybe we could go up to Metcalf Bottoms or something on a picnic. It is a lovely drive, and the leaves might be changing a bit by then.

Paul is such a sweetie to help take care of his auntie.

Hope tomorrow is even a better day. =-)

    love,

    Amy Beth

    Hallelujah!

Isn’t that just like our God? To bless you with an answer and a sweet little ‘ole nephew?

In the mean time, what exactly is poison ivy good for anyway, huh? Sounds like a good study for you and the kids!?! –julie

Let's Start the JenIg Prayer Chain

Okay folks, we all need to pray real hard for JenIg. First she moves from her dry, dusty home to the damp, green, bug-infested hills of East TN. Then she’s separated from her handsome hubby for a long stretch. Then the house turns out to be an open-pit septic tank. Then there is the *ahem*… SITUATION with the neighbors. Then there was that automobile accident. And now we learn that she has chiggers, oops, I mean poison ivy! We’ll be praying that the LORD will extend His mercies to Jen and family!

Now are you telling me there wasn’t poison ivy in CA either????? I think I might move there myself — no chiggers, no ivy…. sounds like heaven to me!

So glad you found out what the problem is. Just to give you some more unsolicited advice, if you run to the health food store there is something called Burt’s Bees Poison Ivy Soap. It is sooooooo wonderful if you have poison ivy!

What I keep wondering is how your naked neighbors deal with this?????? I mean, when that stuff pollinates, just standing downwind can git you! Interesting…..

    I'm way behind…

I had no idea you were going through all this mental torture, Jen. I haven’t been on the computer for days. Sorry for all your anguish! Glad you know what you are dealing with! Bugs is nasty critters! Eeww! Poison Ivy is much better. Did you ever see The Little House on the Prairie episode where Mrs. Olson and her kids get that?

I will say once again: It Is Too Bad You Live So Far Away!! It’s Wrong!

I hope you feel better soon, and your kidlets, too. I’m glad you have family there, and a really great nephew. Hope your imaginary husband gets his tail home soon. Thanks for being happy for me that mine did. Now there’s a pile of laundry taller than me. He changes his clothes several times a day. Somebody needs to address that.

    Praise!

Ah Jen, what a mess! I can’t say I was praying because I was unaware ’til now but I can certainly say I am praising for you! What a guy your nephew is, too. One of the downfalls of being raised an only child is the lack of extended family. However, I do have a brother and sisters I have yet to meet. Perhaps I will meet my brother this year – I have a niece and a nephew from him! :o)

    I'm so sorry

Jen – I know that poison ivy can be so miserable! My son had it a couple of months ago on his you-know-what. It was so swollen. I only wanted to tell you that so that you could know it could be worse. I also have a friend that had it in July and we went to the AiG Mega Conference with her – and she could hardly sit still – it was all up and down the back of her legs. It is a terrible affliction – but temporary. I am praying for you. I sure hope that your nephew didn’t run your kids around in poison ivy!!

And since you appear to be quite allergic to it- just FYI – there are homeopathic pills you can take that my friend gives her daughter that just hears the words “poison ivy” and breaks out – and she has done much better this summer. When she gets it – it is small and not inflamed and goes away quickly.

Even when you’re miserable you still crack me up!!! 🙂

    Jen!

Yep, I thought so! What did I tell you a little while back?!?! The same thing happened to me right when we first moved here to TN – poison ivy! And I thought it was bugs, and scoured the internet, thinking I had some sore of infestation as well! Your story, and related suffering sounded so familiar, made remember my own torturous days last year. Oral stearoids is what the doc. ended up having to give me as well, b/c he didn’t think a shot would be enough. But even then he couldn’t tell me WHAT it was, other than contact dermatitus, and I figured it out from a friend’s description of how she reacts to poison ivy, and finding it in our yard too. *smiles* But I won’t say “I told ya so…” Rather, I’m just so glad that you now know what the problem is, so you can deal with it. Just to KNOW is the biggest relief. I’m praying for a fast recovery for you and your kids, and a speedy return of Geoff and Coie. blessings!
