My Sixth Try at Posting This
Memorial Day is my new favorite holiday — I wish I could say I was less selfish and it’s because of a great poignant moment when I reflected on all the brave and mighty who have fought to keep us free – but the truth of the matter is that this weekend was simply phenomenally fun. On Friday we went to the Roys to meet the Carrs and have a cookout with deer kabobs. The Carrs were totally late so we said, ‘forget them!" and started mowing thru the food. It was *very* good. Maria is the best cook ever. We did finally meet the late Carrs that night and I was a little disappointed because Shay is gorgeous and looked like a cute little Southern Belle super The next day everybody came over to my messy house for a bar b que – plus we got the added bonus of my other best friend Angie, who dropped over. Ryann started off the festivities by catching a lizard and then attaching it to her ear. Actually, that’s not true. Shay kicked things off by bringing me a present. I love presents. Angie brought me one too. Coie got the best present of all time from Mr. Roy, but I will let her tell that story. Here’s Ryann before the lizard attaching Even tho it was mighty hot that day, us ladies were brave and didn’t complain and single stitch. See us in my air conditioned, newly painted dining room? We just stayed there and ate all day while everybody outside caught a bevy of fish from the pond
The Carrs slept over that night and the next day, bright and early, we showed up at the Burggrafs unannounced. We figured if we brought food then they’d be less likely to send us packin’. I wish I would have caught the water fight that Mr. Burggraf started with Coie. But alas, here at least are some less interesting ones
…until James ditched me for a more entertaining playmate. Here he is with Shay and Richard’s youngest, Martha Bryan. There is a cool story behind that kids name but it would take to long to type out. Someday Shay will have to tell it on her blog. We had a lovely time at the Burggrafs. Us ladies visited and ‘talked herbs’ with the beautiful and gracious Mrs. Burggraf while her husband led the rest of our crew on a hiking expedition.
The Carrs stayed over again on Sunday night (because we hog-tied them and would not let them leave) and then on Monday we drove down for A.T.I.C. Heavens to Betsy I got a lot of loot. I got a beautiful mirror, some very trendy drinking glasses, shoes for my son, a train set, a bunch of A Beka workbooks, a full set of little cars and a bunch of clothes. There was GOOD stuff there. I think it went really well. Shay kept turning things over looking for a price tag at the bottom "hello Shay.. we keep tellin’ you, it’s The Carrs went on their way and we were winding things down when I heard Coie reading outloud to the kids. She was reading them her two favorite childhood books, The Wrong Way Rabbit I hope your weekend was just as lovely! |

Lizard
I wish you would have posted that picture of the lizard on my ear.
And actually, mr. Johnston caught that and put it on my ear. I'm going to thank him at the F/D camp for teaching me how to make my own earings.

Good weekend!
We had a good weekend, too…but we didn't get to meet new people or make lizard earrings. Oh well, maybe next time.
Hey! I cut (almost) all of my hair off! YIPPEE!!! And made a curlie-doo out of it. I LOVE it. I used to wear my hair short and permed for quite a while a decided that I'd grow it long before I got too old. HA! So, my beautician got five 14" – thick as a quarter – pony tails for Locks of Love to make a wig for a cancer patient.
Whenever I get any new pics I'll change my avatar. And…methinks that you forgot to look in the mirror, too! 🙂

Coie
Jen, I think the water fight was started by one Geoff the Great. Poor Coie was just in the middle of the fun. So the whole blog world knows, Coie makes the best cinnamon rolls!!!!! Thanks Coie! Your family and you have been a real blessing to us. Will see you all this w/e at the F/D. PS – bring clothes to get wet in!

WOW….
looks like you all had a great time. That's a great picture of you all in the dining room. I love the bookshelf on that wall. See? it IS a great thing to meet other bloggers!
Anyway, I came yesterday to leave a comment and couldn't; I was wondering about how ATIC went. I think it's a great idea.
We did have a great weekend, too; so glad Paul & Gena et al had to leave those racks here last month! It guaranteed their return! Then, we got to have another lovely homeschool family over on Monday. Eric was in heaven… With the Suarez boys and then with 3 more boys about the same ages the next day!
Love that pic of the lovely Coie reading to the Littles! I just figured Ryann must be off reading upside-down in a redbud tree somewhere…
( ; Take care… Blessings

Okay! NOW I know why you don't like me–it's that southern belle charm and beauty thing. HA. I am so totally kidding! I know you especially like me because of my drawl and the fact that I love boiled peanuts.
I hated so to miss the thingy on Monday, but we were recooperating from Thurs.- Sun. Briana didn't get up until 1:20 on Monday. She's never done that. We did have a great fun weekend–come by and see the pics of Sat.'s fun. We had various dress rehearsals Thurs. and Fri., and then on Sun. was church and the ballet recital (an extremely long day). So, yeah, by Mon., we were pooped.
Anyway, it's looks like you all had a great time, and were probably pretty worn out yourselves.

Great fun!
We had a fun weekend too, albeit soggy!
It's so much fun to make real friends out of all this frivilous blogging! 🙂 Although the majority of my real life friends and family still don't understand the value of this imaginary world and all my imaginary friends! Pity!

Yes…my chips made it home safely…Thank you so much for asking (LOL!!!!!). And Yes…I added our time at your house (3 DAYS!!!) to my log book!!!! I logged it under life skills, music, cooperation lessons, and learning about the homestead way of life…I'm not kidding!!! I don't think I'll have you over to my home…you may very well find my little log book and rip it to shreds (ha, ha, ha)!!!
Have a good rest of the week!

You know… you get altogether TOO many comments!
But your blog merits it!! Your stories are always funny, and I just really enjoy reading about your life 🙂 (that sounds like a weird thing to say).
My weekend definitely didn't match up on the fun factor, but we did have a BLESSED weekend nonetheless!
Come on 'round to hear our latest 🙂
