Hittin' the Town
Yep, this is the way to live life Having my little sister and her husband here has been a mini vacation. I thank God for them both. God is very kind to me; He cares so intricately and specifically and gives us more than we ask for or could even think of. He knew what I needed this week, and what I needed was Jess and Cha Cha – yes, Cha Cha — that is my husband’s nickname for his new bro-in-law. It has to be said with a thick Mexican accent: “Hola Cha Cha” So anyways, I totally forgot what a real date was. Last night Cha Cha and Jess forced us out of our normal routine of fuddy duddy dates (a cheap 20 minute lunch where we talk about finances) and took us out on the town. We have lived here for almost two years but we’ve never cruised thru Gatlinburg, which is one of the top ten most toured places in First we got all snickered up and went to a fancy dinner at a restaurant called The Park Grill. You can see I’m not lying based on the evidence hovering directly on top of my head. And then we walked the strip — and there were tons of all different sorts of things to see. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the mountain music clogging trio. They were very cute and they had cute puffy green dresses. Alas, here instead is a shot of two non-cloggers: Us old timers had to sit a spell: And I can’t remember what he said, but I reckon it musta been pretty funny Thanks Jess and Hola Cha Cha! And thanks, Cokes and Washi-Wash for holding down the fort so we could go out and play with other grown-ups for the night. I know Sir James did *not* appreciate our audacity to leave. You are such good (brave) girls. |

I don't know how y'all could've left that poor, sad little soul! hehehe…
Well, okay, I CAN imagine b/c Dozer does the same thing. But he's usually over it rather quickly.
Hmmm… no clogging pictures of you. I'm disappointed. It looks like the not was almost a complete success… and I'm not talking about the mountain trio clogging. I want to see YOUR clogging skills!
And hola cha cha must dance for his dinner as well. You have to with a nickname like that. ๐

Yay for date nights!
Thanks for taking us along…I felt like I got a little mini glimpse of that city. My pastor in Ohio goes to G-burg every year for his family vacation. They love it there. Great to check in with you and see your fun clan. The feet shot totally threw me off…I couldn't figure out where they were till seeing the next picture. Very cool angle.

They had more little fun shops and mini villages than I could comprehend. Taffy, gyros, corndogs, pizza, burgers, ribs, fudge, candy shoppes, etc.
You know, you listed everything BUT my favorite shops. And there were THREE of them…I can't beleive you missed it. It was the photo shop, camera shop, and photo camera shop.

I TOTALLY have better feet than you.. and we DID have a great time last night, didn't we? There is seriously something extra special about sisters hanging out and laughing together than doing the same with anyone else.
There was a time when I thought we'd never have that again.. last night was a sweet time and I hope you know how much this last week has meant to me. You have always been a hero to me, and now, for the first time, I feel like you're also a very precious friend. thanks for that..
love you!
…and btw, your son looks VERY hilariously pathetic in that pic. What's funny is how in reality here, he's nothing but a giggling, obnoxious, huggy/clingly fun little kid.

It's about time you got out to "Fatlinburg". It's a great date night place. I am so happy you got to experience it with your sister. My sister and I were therewhen she was here last month.
We have also eaten at the Park Grill — we were treated by one of Joes clients. It was very good. I have only been there that one time though. Maybe his client will come back into town and we can go eat there again. haha

Ah yes, I've been to Fatlinburg myself, and while the food was great, the most memorable part was trying to put out the brake fire after we came down the mountain. I'll stick to the beach – it's flat. Thanks for the memories! Karen (bensrib.blogspot.com)

What fun!
It is so important to not lose the "coupleness" of a marriage relationship. Yes, I know I just invented that word ๐ Glad you are enjoying your visit with Jess and Charlie. They sound like fun people! I enjoyed reading about their wedding and viewing honeymoon pics on Jess blog.

Great Fun!
Sounds like you had a great time with your hubby, your sister and her hubby. You need to get out on the town more with your hubby. It looks like you were all having fun. I truly enjoy your blog and just visited your daughters' blogs. I enjoy reading each of theirs'. You all have a great way with words and telling your stories. I crack up everytime I visit here.
Now I better get up from this computer and get some work done. I lose track of time when you come to your blog and start reading.

Poor little James – He looks heart-broken!
You, on the other hand look lovely! I'm glad to hear that you had such a nice time.
I didn't know you were in the Gatlinburg area?!!!
My DH and I are thinking of moving 'south'.
We don't know where yet, but one are we both keep coming back to, over and over in our minds, is the Knoxville/Gatlinburg area. I love TN – it is so beautiful (and the winters are SO much better than WI ! )
We are keeping you in our prayers!
Blessings,

Good for you! I love, love going to Gatlinburg to walk around. See, Coie was ahead of you. SHE had been to Gatlinburg with us last year.
Treasure your relationship with your sisters. Mine was here last week. We don't have that. I have tried and tried. I grieved for days after she left. I am at the point of not knowing what else to do but accept it.
Okay- you've inspired me. I feel a date night coming on.

Your first time to Gatinlinburg??…….
I can't believe it !! I am way down here by Memphis and I have to go at least once a year.
No, really, God has been good to us and for the last few years, my husband and I are able to take a week to our selves and go. We had our honeymoon there almost 21 yrs ago, to start with.. No we go back each year to "reconnect" with each other. …..And the shopping and food aren't bad either.
