Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

Yesterday I was in my room and all of a sudden I hear this cackling laughter erupt from the living room.  Coie told me that James had turned his big truck on its side and lined up about six of his little hot rod cars against the belly of the big truck and started making sucking sounds.  Do most three year olds let their cars nurse?  Wow, my family is consistently weird.

Tomorrow my Emmsi-doodle turns 12.  Over the weekend we let her have a few friends come over and have a camp out on the lawn.  It was a sweet day.  Her actually birthday is Thursday the 26th.  The real surprise is that her Gramma Sharon is flying out from California to spend the week with her.  All of my kids are going to die from utter overjoyed excitement.  This may be the best summer they’ve ever had.

And here’s a note of interest — Gramma Sharon is actually the one who came up with emmi’s name.  We had a home birth (yeeowch, I prefer being drugged up with no pain during labor), anyways, Gramma Sharon, who is from Geoff’s “Japanese side” came over and was cooing, “ahhhh… Emmiko…. Emmiko….”, which we later found out meant “Happy Child”.   So we took it.  And a very happy child she is.

We roasted hot dogs, made S’mores, and when it got dark Uncle Charley put on a major firework production.

… and later she opened presents.  She told me that her very favorite gift ws the cookbooks and measuring cups/spoons that aunt jess gave her.  She also got tons of artsy-type stuff — her all time favorite thing to do  (besides cooking)

Happy Birthday,  Emmiko!  I hope you always stay as sweet as you are now.

And lastly, sadly, J and C finally left to return back to the land of Alaskians.  How sad we are.  But before they left, Mr. Preston got a chain saw and found a log and in about two hours he carved us the most incredible (cute) bear and then also carved a little wooden sign that said IGARASHI for the little bear to hold.  Good golly gracious it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. I need to get a pic of it.  That man’s talent has no limit!  We already miss them SO much.

Did it rain out there today?

We finally got a good rain here and don't you know I decided to go to Walmart and just as I was almost there boom the clouds opened and down it poured. I got drenched. But I laughed.

Looks like a great party. I'm glad Emi had a great birthday.

We miss you too.. i was a blubbering idiot trying with all my might not to burst into tears all morning…especially when i was around Ryann (for some reason i feel totally connected to that kid.. prolly cause we're so obnoxiously alike). When we finally drove out of your driveway i burst into tears. Charley just put his arm around me.. "its okay, we'll come back again". i felt like a dumb little 5 year old. I cried for about 15 minutes and then was fine.

It's nice being home but i wish we lived closer to you guys., we both had a blast.. especially at night when Geoff would come home…

    love you

oh, and there should be a pic of that bear which ryann downloaded to your computer that morning we left. I will agree with you that it WAS pretty cute. now i'm begging him to make one for me.. 🙂

That's your lawn?? Do you live in a park? Is it always so green? Is that what Tennessee looks like?

And happy birthday to your girl!

And no, I don't think most three year olds nurse their cars. Definitely weird!

    Blessings,

Happy 12th Birthday, Emmiko! I love her name. She does look like a happy child…perhaps because your family is consistently weird? 🙂

Your lawn is big and beautiful…nice camping location. When shall we have a HSB camping retreat (at your place)? We dream of visiting Tennessee someday :).

Happy Birthday, Emmiko! It looks like she had fun at her birthday party. I love the story of her name.

Thanks for the Gary DeMar info. I haven't really enjoyed his book thus far and that's why I wanted to read it before doing this with my daughter. I'm not too sure which way we will go for history. I agree with you on this world is not our home and we shouldn't be looking to take it over. Kind of scary.

    Happy Birthday Emmiko!

What a totally cool name… that actually has a sweet story and meaning behind it. Much better than my, I mean, the usual– I just like how it sounds reasoning.

I can't wait to see pics of the wooden bear. Do all Alaskans know how to carve wood with a chainsaw? Just wondering if it's just one of those I'm-bored-and-it's-still-snowing things that you learn up there.

    Love,

    Nursing Trucks?!

Hilarious! Once I saw a toddler of mine lying down next to an infant car seat pretending to nurse at the bolt that fastened the handle.

Happy Birthday to Emmiko! I love her name and she always looks like such and sweet and happy girl in pictures.
