Weird News
**Ok… read this and tell me if it does *not* totally freak you out. It’s a fascinating read. You know me, I am a sucker for fatalistic- end-of-the-world- we’re-all-a’gonna-die stories. I hope the fish in our pond aint drinkin no city sourced water. **So anyways, I got this horrible canker sore in my mouth, right? Canker sores have plagued me since I was like four years old. So I was laying in bed feeling sorry for myself because I couldn’t sleep on account of my poor inner lip / gum, when I suddenly got this idea that swishing hydrogen peroxide in my mouth might help. And I learned two things: 1) Swishing hydrogen peroxide around a canker sore completely sucks all of the pain out for about eight hours. No joke. Yes, I was surprised as you are. Often-times when I come up with bright ideas in the middle of the night, generally myself, or others, are physically or psychologically harmed in the process. It looks like my luck is beginning to change. I feel like a real scientist. 2) I learned I have an inordinate fondness for the taste of hydrogen peroxide. Have you ever tasted it?? It’s really good. I put some in my tea this morning. No, not really, but I really do like the way it tastes. **And to round off my weird news post, I’d just like to say that the thirteenth chapter of Mark is entirely fascinating. And, unrelated to that, I’d also like to say that the body of Christ is an incredible thing when it is working biblically. My daughter, Ryann, has memorized the entire 12th chapter of Romans and as she was reciting it to me, this part stood out and really dazzled me: For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are m any are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality, he who leads, with diligence, he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Really, the whole chapter is spectacular, but that segment stood out in a very awesome way. And does anybody else think it is odd that we are told to "show mercy with cheerfulness"? I was trying to come up with some sort of an example of that, but I confess, I am not totally sure what it means. It would be a neat study, tho, I think I’m going to look into that. **Lastly, I thank God that He has led us to our church. It really has been an amazing example of a ‘body functioning properly’. We have been so blessed there. I hope you are in a good group of believers where you can exercise your gifts to serve the body of Christ. It is a glimpse of what eternity will look like, and that is awesome. ** Which reminds me, for some reason, that the annual Abingdon Barn Dance is quickly approaching. See here for details (you’ll have to scroll down below the Great State of Word Confusion— which is a fun read). If you are in a 12 hour driving radius, start making plans now to come! It will be the best time your family ever has! I know this from personal experience. |

Very interesting
Wow, weird news indeed. And they're right, nothing will ever be said or done about it. Take away consequence-free sex from society?? It would take more than tainted drinking water to make that okay.
And I do love that Romans 12. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing it. We too have finally been lead to a church that feels like home. Such a relief and blessing. I think we're actually joining tomorrow. A place to plant roots and become part of the body. It's a wonderful thing. Have a lovely weekend!

where IN the world do you find things like this??? Wow, that is truly the strangest thing I've heard this week, but yes, scary!
I am so glad for you all that you have a great church. In all our years of military moves, that is the one thing that has made such a difference–being plugged into a great body of believers.
You are so funny..I can just imagine you being the sort of neighbor that would be so much fun to have pop in for iced tea.
God bless you today!

Hydrogen peroxide? That confirms it. You ARE weird.
Personally, I really like the smell of a laminating machine and even sawdust. Yup, something about that warm burnt smell is yummy… Like when the heater kicks on for the first time in the winter.
I. am. normal.

so true!
Being a good body of believers is such a great thing. Thanks for that reminder.
As for the Hydrogen Peroxide.. well I'll take your word on that one.. lol 😉

So, did your tongue and gums get all white and foamy? That's just weird, Jen. You are entertaining, though, and I really appreciate that about you.
I know what you mean about verses jumping out and grabbing ahold of you…I've been reading 1Cor. and it's been like that for me. I love it!

There was so much here to comment on – but I'll stick with the canker sores – my son is terribly plagued with them – and always has been – and one thing that helps a ton is mixing equal parts of mylanta and benadryl (the store brands will do fine) and applying it with a cotton ball – it numbs them and soothes his poor mouth.
I hope you feel better soon –
And way to go Ryann!

not to defend birth control pills or anything, but it is interesting to me that it's the National *catholic* register who's broadcasting this… from what I understand, most Catholics are extremely against and opposed to any form of birth control.. believing it to be a sin.
however, it IS interesting
and GROSS, Jen! I'd be more worried about *that* hurting you than fishy hormoned pumped water! I'd look up the effects of using hydrogen peroxide for INternal purposes. :p

Ok, 1) I'm glad your canker sore feels better and all, but EWWW to the hydrogen peroxide. My grandma used to use it as mouthwash, and I didn't even like to kiss her after it.
2) Your daughter Ryann is awesome
3) I'm so glad you found a church. I like teh one we are attending right now, but I am not sure if it exactly right for us, so we shall see where the Lord takes us. Love ya, and see you at the barn dance, hopefully!

Woah… that article is disturbing… especially since I live near the Puget Sound. I wonder if this effects human fertility?

Canker Sore Sister
What a lovely thing to have in common, eh?
I have been plagued my whole life.
I have heard about the peroxide thing, but never tried it… I could not imagine it would taste good. I will have to try it.
I have tried the Maalox/Benadryl mixture as a rinse, with mediocre results.
The only thing that has worked absolutely for me was when I had 10 cankers at once and didn't eat for 2 weeks. I finally got in with a specialist who prescribed a heavy duty dose of Prednizone which knocked them right out and put me back in business.

Hi Jen!
My husband was telling me this morning that they have decided what to do about the huge pigeon problem in Hollywood……they are putting feed out for them with birth control in it. Dh was wondering "what about the other birds, and won't it get into the water supply?" Apparently there is already plenty of it in there! What is even scarier about that is that many brands of bottled water are just municipal tap water, so those of us who drink it because we think it is "pure" are getting dosed along with everyone else.
I don't think this will ever get any attention, mostly because all the people who push birth control are all for population control, and what better way to accomplish that? Now you know I am crazy.
I have another use for peroxide………my kids haven't had ear infections in years, but I used to put 1/4 of a tsp. in their ears a couple times a day when they did. I finally asked my uncle, a nurse, if that was ok and he said it was great. It's also supposed to whiten your teeth.
Have a blessed day!

HP Toothpaste
Just FYI…I make my own toothpaste and it has HP in it. Here's the recipe:
~ 3 ts. baking powder (NOT soda!)
~ 1-1/2 ts. Hydrogen Peroxide
~ 1/8 ts. essential oil for flavoring (i.e. spearmint, peppermint, wintergreen, etc.)
~ Store in small jar; wait until the fizzing stops before you close the lid. Turns to a paste/powder, so wet your toothbrush BEFORE you put the mixture on it.
I've been using it for years. Before I used it I was very cavity-prone, haven't had a cavity in years. Hope you enjoy it!!
Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><

So glad…
you've found a body of believers….our church family has become our "family"…
and yeah, your fascination with the taste of HP confirms you are weird. While you're at it, HP whitens your teeth. May as well go ahead and brush with it.
