!! Vive Le Dollar Tree !!
I just got James’ Birthday cake and frosting. I *love* the Dollar Tree. I also picked up a dinosaur puzzle. Ten minutes and three dollars and the birthday boy is covered. I could have sworn we just celebrated his birthday like a couple weeks ago, but this Monday he’s supposedly turning four. I can’t believe I don’t have a baby in the house; after buying diapers continually for 13 years, I no longer have them on my shopping list. My big boy:
(Yep, Shay, them are Little Richard’s jammies). After this Monday all Igarashi birthday’s are done for the rest of the year. They don’t start up again until Feb. Whew. Ryann woke up at 5:30 this morning and has made seven loaves of zucchini bread and is almost done with crocheting a baby blanket for a family from our church who just had a little boy this week. I tell you what, it may be sad not having a baby, but it sure is most excellently awesome when they turrn into teenagers. Happy sigh. Lastly, you’ll be incredulous to hear that I have been working out every single day since Friday. I know. I hardly believe it myself. AND my pants fit. My favorite pants that haven’t fit for a year and a half. PS Have any of you started school yet? How come nobody told me it was already almost mid-August?? GOOD GOLLY! |

Well good for your birthdays ending — ours are just starting. Levi kicked it off today by turning two months closer to being 1 year old. Now that is hard to beleive.
I love dollar tree as well. So glad you found some great stuff there.

I just went there today and got myself in trouble 🙂 My girls were able to pick up gifts for DD #2's birthday next week so there is another reason to love it.
School has started here in the Mahan house and going strong!

we have 2 birthdays coming up this month and next and my baby boy is turning 3! he is such a boy. a whirlwind of a boy. and my big girl is turning 10.
i can't believe you have done so well on this cleanse thing. what happens next? do you just go back to eating your normal diet? good for you. all i'm doing is walking then eating cake. my husband says i'm defeating the purpose but i say i'm maintaining my size 4.

And afterwards? hmmm, dunno. i haven't got that far yet. Hopefully I'll get back to a size 8 (and permanently away from the size 12 that I've hit) and then just stop eating like a Southerner. ha ha JUST KIDDING my southern friends, I'm JUST KIDDING. Seriously, tho, a California diet is much easier on the thighs….

"Eating like a southerner" – Huh?
I'm not exactly sure what that is, but it can be as bad as eating like a Wisconsinite. Cheese, brats, and beer – (although I don't drink) seem to be the 'staples' of most diets around here. And then there are the desserts (mostly dairy, of course) …cream puffs, ice cream, fudge, lots of pies…..Ugh! when we moved back from California I think I gained 20 lbs just crossing the state line!
(Maybe God designed it that way so that we all stay warm when it hits 50 below in the winter!?! )
I'm glad to hear that your 'cleanse' worked so well!
I'll have to check w/ my cardiologist to see if something like that would be okay for me to try. (Because, Boy – I could sure stand to drop a few pounds!)

Yay for James! I wish we could be there for his b-day.. He's such a funny kid. All I remember is his endless ONE question, "Jessi?" …."What?" i'd say… "Jessi?" …."What?" I'd say… "Jessi??"
Oh, and the way he'd freak my poor husband out by trapezing off his highchair onto the book case like he worked for the circus.. which, isn't entirely untrue. He's simply paid in zucchini bread, snuggle time with mom, and dollar store birthday cakes…
I'm fitting into clothes that I haven't worn in a long time too- and I'm only going onto my THIRD day out of the 9!!

Happy Birthday to James, congrats on the weight loss, I looove Dollar Tree and we are starting back to school on the 27th. As far as birthdays go for my bunch, Justin my oldest turned 18 last month, Josh will be 6 this month and Mackie will be two next month. Whew, they don't stay little very long, do they?

Teenagers
Thank you for the lovely comment about LOVING teenagers! All I hear is how dreadful those days are and how I'd better be prepared. It's so refreshing to hear a mom say, "hey, you know what? I actually LOVE my kids being teenagers!" So, thanks for that encouragement. As for school, we were going to start 8/27, but then Labor Day is the next Monday so we're just starting the day after, 9/4. I know, that's starting way late for a lot of homeschoolers, but this is our first year, and she's only in Kindergarten!
Enjoy the zucchini bread and fitting the old pants! Oh, and we too love Dollar Tree, but haven't been since the time I thought I was only spending about $10, but walked out spending $75! 75 items?

Look at that face…that smile!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it. There *is* something about four. When you have a three year old you still have a "baby" in the house. But when they hit four…you just can't say it anymore. Four…yep, four is when they are a child, not a baby. Sad…but…OH HOW EXCITING!!!!!! YIPPEE for children growing into the person God would have them to be. I am amazed daily at watching my children (the Lord's children) grow and mature. It is *such* a lovely miraculous thing!!!! I'm not wanting to rush it or anything, but I can't wait to see who my children will be as adults…I wonder what God will do with their lives…

I've been going to Curves and it's the best decision I ever made! I'm also doing the First Place eating program and it's wonderful.
No, we haven't started school, but I'm getting all excited about it now and will probably start in a couple of weeks. God bless!!

Well, I LOVE having my teen + girls, and they are certainly quite handy, but unfortunately they don't like to cook, so that didn't help me much. Couldn't live without them in tons of other ways, though.

I like ze Dollar Tree. I don't go very often though. The last visit, I bought some very short books on CD– Anne of Green Gables among them. I figured the boys wouldn't be interested in the unabridged CDs.
School? I'm working on it. I don't want to set a date yet… I just need some TIME to get organized and get a plan. I was going to wait until we get into our new house (and huge schoolroom!), but then we might not have lessons again until Thanksgiving! And believe you me, we need the structure in our day. Bored boys equal bratty boys!
In the meantime, we are roasting and toasting in the heat. Our days are full of watermelon, swimming, and sweating. With the occasional math page thrown in. Talk about light school. I'm sure this does not fit the normal definition of schooling year round.

Wowsers, my 4 year old will be 5 in November…
And my 13 year old will be 14 in September… (I don't think he's interested in making zuchini bread, but I did finally train him to do the laundry, yippee! We're caught up here, on a daily basis even, time for another yippee!)
You know, there is still time… (to need more diapers…) he, he, he…
And I've been gonna order the cleansing/detox program from Dr. Natura for quite some time now- I'm thinking soon would be good as I'm winding down my year of nursing and I'm not pregnant for now… we'll see, I'm about the least proactive person I know, it could be awhile before I click "order now"…
In the meantime, I'm working on drinking more water again, and adding kefir and an 'organic triple greens' drink to the daily mix, it's my personal baby-steps to cleansing program, lol! Now if I could just keep my paws of the chips…
