Glob of Potatoes? Where? What Glob of Potatoes?
JustGiveMeStarbucks is a real corker. She left me a comment saying I look like Sarah Jessica Parker. So I looked her up and found this picture egads, look at those arms. No thanks; I prefer mine big, flabby and useless. However, after browsing around I discovered that she and I share a similar awkwardishly large nose. Plus, I think she married that one guy who played Ferris Buehler, and, uh, I went and saw that same guy play Ferris Buehler in the theaters. :: crickets chirping :: When I was younger, I looked just like Laura from Little House on the Prairie. No kidding. We were practically twins. Big buck teeth and all. And then in high school I was compared all the time to Jo from the Facts of Life. I never really appreciated that one so much, but as soon as my mullet grew out the resemblance faded. In other news, sometime last week I was making mashed potaties and the dish somehow slipped from my hand, and my kitchen plus several counters and especially ME got splattered up pretty good. Man, potatoes can get *hot*. After I changed my tatered clothes I got the kitchen swiped up nice and shiney– but then I noticed that in all the splattering mayhem, a deviant glob had shot up and cemented itself to the kitchen ceiling. It’s still up there, and every time I drink something (because naturally your head tilts upwards) there’s that yellow crusty splotch just waiting for me to do something about it. Why am I telling you this? I have no idea, but I just cannot seem to muster up the motivation to drag a chair in and scale up there to scrape ‘em off. I guess I can safely say that I’m equally gross and lazy. And with that charming visual, I bid thee a most enchanted weekend |

ok. I see the resemblance in Jo.
I also have some "stuff" on my kitchen ceiling. I like to look at it every so often and wonder… what that was. But unlike you I have never thought of getting a chair to clean it. I am hoping my dh gets the ceiling painted and than I will not have to ever see it again.
I hope you have had a blessed week. 😉

So, are you gonna enter the contest or what? LOL!
I don't have potatoes on my ceiling, but there is a hook in our family room left over from my daughter's birthday party…almost a year ago. It was a "luau" and I'd hung a fake parrot from said hook. Could I bother myself to take it down? Of course not. I'd have to get a chair to do that and that's too much work. So, for the past year, this dark hook in the ceiling has been continually catching my eye as if it were a spider sitting there. That ALONE should be enough to make me take it down!

My children think I'm insane. But I always feel so "normal" after reading your entries. Now I must share your blog with my kids so they won't get confused, anymore! ROFL!
BTW, I look just like Cindy Crawford. Uh-huh. We both have the mole. So there's a few differences, mind you. But I have the mole!

Good Post
You realize that you are showing your age (and the age of most of your readers) by sharing the television shows you were compared to!!!! It could be worse…I had everyone calling me Madonna (from her early days). Do you think it had something to do with the big lacy ribbon in my bright blonde hair??
I will be real honest. In my old house, I had a fight with oatmeal. It started popping, I got burnt, I got mad, I slammed the pot down, my ceiling got an oatmeal paint job (and that isn't the paint color "oatmeal"). I am sure it "wore" off!!

I was always compared to Natalie on the facts of life – people said it was my "personality" – but I think that it weighed in on the chubby part too!

Jo was my favorite "fact" girl…mullet and all. I must be from your same era. I always got compared to Kirstie Ally on "Cheers."

In Jr. High people told me I looked *just* like Morgan Fairchild. This was in the 1970s. Yeah, I'm THAT old! In semi-related news, someone came to my blog just the other day by googling Heather Locklear. I'm sure they were thrilled to find a homeschoolin' mamma of 6.5! Heather and I are like *that*! (I'm crossing my fingers.)
Have you seen the giveaway going on at my place? It ends Sunday at 2:00.

Years ago, I opened a 2 liter bottle of RED (and I DO mean RED) punch drink and it spurted ALL OVER my cute country blue cabinets…AND the ceiling. Hundreds of tiny red spots were all over our ceiling right up until the day we moved!

hahahaha, yah, you DID look like laura from little house on the prairie.. i've seen the pics of you at that age- (AND the *re-runs* of the Little house on the Prairie show" cause i'm NOT as old as yoooou) HA. HA. HA. But, Being the youngest of us three sistas, it doesn't make sense that you would STILL be prettier than me 13 years older and 6 kids later. I HATE that. it's all mom and dad's fault. thanks mom and dad.
by the way, i vote you post a pic of you when you were 13.
And Jen? Just make Ryann clean your ceiling. i'm sure she won't mind. Tell her you'll share the yummy salsa with her that i sent you.

Now I know why I like reading your blog….you make me feel so normal!
I finally wiped off the mashed apple that was resident for months — or a year maybe! — on my living room ceiling from when my ds launched it there. There is also sauce on my dining room ceiling. It is just not a priority. Who cares about the ceiling when my feet are sticking to the floor? 🙂

How I love mullets
Wow, the mullet line had me laughing. There is something magically hysterical about mullets. Please do share pics of yours if you have any!
And I don't have any mashed potatoes or food products on my ceiling. But, how about smashed fly and mosquito carcasses? I do have plenty of those on walls, the ceiling, and sadly, I have kicked a couple under the couch instead of picking them up and throwing them away. Hm, didn't realize how lazy I really am until I just read that I kick carcasses to avoid the long trip to the trash can. Gross.

Wow, SJP has some major gams! I don't think I'd want to look like that. Although I wouldn't mind starting out like that and then letting myself go for a while until the desired state of flabbiness is achieved.
As to the taters on the ceiling, that is what ze amazing Coie is for. Or at least Dippy and Bobo project. They could figure out a fun way to get to the root of the problem (haha).

Jen, Jen, Jen….
When you finally get off your lazy bum and get those potatoes cleaned up you can head on over to my house and get the cobwebs off all four walls and the ceiling fan in MINE! Oh, and while you're at it – you can clean under my refrigerator and stove, ok?
And I was a Molly Ringwald look-alike (remember her? Pretty in Pink? Sixteen Candles?) Yep, we're 80's kids!
love ya,

The worst part about cleaning the potatoes off the ceiling is that you end up with one clean spot and dust on the rest of the ceiling. Then you have to clean the whole thing. UGH! A swifter works well to clean it all up.
