The Wind Doth Blow

(very) Thankfully, my mom and dad in law are not hurt.  Over the weekend a tornado came for a visit and left with their roof:

Not only that, it picked up their camping trailer, tossed it into the woods and broke it in half.  It also tore thru the garage and sucked everything EVERYTHING out.  My poor mom in law lost her mother’s wedding ring, as well as an indescribable amount of sentimental and practical property that will be impossible to recover.  Me and Geoff hate to be so far away.  My husband has not been able to sleep and just keeps saying, “I need to be up there helping them”.  Ugh.  We feel utterly helpless and so we continue to pray, and I figured the next best thing I could do is ask my friends to pray.   Will you, please?

The details are still sketchy, but I guess my m-i-l was home at the time.  Could you even imagine?  They are just so dear, and I wish that me and my kids were there to pick thru the woods and help find their things.

    How horrible and frightening!

I am so glad that they are safe, though. Prayers for them as they go through the process of recovering their lost things and re-building their home! (Prayers for Geoff, too!)

We watched that storm coming in. It was quite scary. It was a freaky storm that seemed to come out of nowhere and turned the sky dark and green super fast. Clouds were swirling and seemed to collide right above our house. They said a couple of tornadoes had touched down. I'm sorry to hear that it affected your in-laws and about their loss of property. We lost power for a brief moment that fried our AC, but others lost it for a few days. If there's anything we can do, let us know.

Praise God that every one is alright. Tornadoes are so scary to go through even when they don't touch your house. I can't imagine what she went through. I pray that they are o.k., and and can get things taken care of. I also pray, that if the Lord wants you to go and help, that He will provide the way, even if it seems impossible. 🙂

I'm so sorry. How scary. I hope they are able to find and salvage some precious things. I will be praying for them. My mom and dad went through a tornado in Crossville a few years ago. Thankfully, amazingly, their home was okay, except for the roof. They lost 25 trees close to their house, and miraculously, they all fell away from it. Two people were killed just around the corner. It is a very terrifying exprience. They are still pretty jumpy when strong storms are in the area.

    Wowzers, that is scary!

I couldn't imagine. One of my worse fears is for a tornado to rip one of my kids out of my arms…

It is sad to lose so many sentimental things… but I am so very thankful that your mom and f-i-l are okay.

    Praying for them!

    Praying with you!

I'm so sorry for you in laws and hope that some things may be recovered although it seems impossible now! I totally understand the 'feeling so far away' part as well. Will be praying for peace for you as well that you will KNOW they are in God's hands. That is the safest place for them!

So sorry for your in-laws. I will be praying them.

Prayerfully, the Lord will lead them to the ring and other special things they lost.

Jen, my dad died in a plane crash in 1972. A year later two women and a man had a metal detector on the mountain where the plane crashed and they actually found my dad's wedding ring. My mom had had something engraved in the ring when they married. The trio took the ring to the sheriff's office and the ring actually arrived in the mailbox on the one year anniversary of my dad's death. True story!!! I will pray that your mother is able to find her mother's ring.

    Hugs.

    wow!

I can see how you want to be there, I would too-that has to be so hard, I will be praying, God could turn up that ring, I just know it. I have seen miracles of God finding things for people I know that seemed hopeless.

I will be praying. So sorry to hear about their loss. Yes, they are material things, but still meaningful while we are still living here on this earth. May God guide them in the days/months ahead.
