Menu Planning

Today for lunch I had vanilla ice cream with an over abundant avalanche of carmel syrup.  I believe that is also on tomorrow's lunch menu.

And speaking of lunch, why is it that I can get up really early in the morning just fine (like around 9 30) unless I HAVE to get up (like from an alarm clock or screaming baby)? Why is that? why? WHY? By the way, I've decided to go ahead and rent that movie that Amy Beth keeps talking about. I haven't actually read any of the comments on that page because I don't want to ruin my movie viewing pleasure.

ok, gena is pummeling me with insults because she says my entry makes no sense. what i meant to say is “why can i get up early when i DON”T have to. If I HAVE to get up early (from an alarm clock or from a screaming baby) it is impossible”. there. how is that? better? clarification has been established.

This evening’s late night snack is Blue Bell vanilla ice cream blended with caffeine-free Dr. Pepper (I’m not totally irresponsible!). If you can get the Blue Bell in your area, you must try it since it is the world’s best ice cream. So good, in fact, that I FedEx’d it to my sis in NYC for her b-day last year. Thank goodness dh gets a 75% discount on FedEx b/c that is not cheap!

Anyhoo, the ice cream is the highlight of my dining today since my whole soup fiasco which you may read about on my blog.

    Bon appetit Jen!

    Your non-chef-istic friend,

    Waking Early

I know the feeling, I woke at seven thirty this morning (aarrgggg) but you can bet that on Monday when I have to wake for schooltime I will not want to get out of my bed. It doesn’t help that its dark here until 8am at the moment, but our clocks go back an hour tonight so will be lighter in the morning then (for a while at least).

Incidently, I understand totally what you meant as well ;o)

I don’t do early mornings, either. I don’t suppose it would have anything to do with me blogging late at night? Nah!!! Yes, my Taco Soup recipe might be similar to a chili soup. Make sure you add lots of cheddar cheese to your bowl-ful! The gooier, the better! 🙂 Thanks for the kind comments on my husband’s and my blogs!

    Weird!

My lunch yesterday was a caramel apple I made FROM SCRATCH! Directions:

Buy an apple. (I have apple trees but they don’t grow edible apples. go figure.)

Buy a package of caramel wraps for apples

Wrap a wrap around the apple

Bake for 5 minutes on 200.

    Stick in a stick.

    Eat it.

    YUMMMMMMMM!

For my next cooking class I will teach ya’ll how to make smore’s. FROM SCRATCH!

    hehehe.

    Recipe ideas…

Okay, so I’m putting a recipe book together for our dear sister, Jen… who is “kitchen-challenged”… check out my site for more information… but what I wanted to say is… for those of you thinking of what recipe idea to send… we now know that Jen does know how to “make” ice-cream, so you probably don’t need to include that one, unless of course, you have a recipe that has more than one topping involved. That might be tricky…

Sounds like a great lunch! Although I’d choose Tillamook Chocolate Peanutbutter. Disco Doug once upon a time was so hooked on that stuff he gained 30 pounds. Ate it every day, quit eating dinner even so he had room for that icecream. Got greedy! If he even heard the freezer being opened he was right there- threatening! Nobody touched his icecream! (once when I was mad at him I snuck and ate ALL the peanutbutter out of it.)

    We called him “Fattymcbutterpants”.

I need more clarification. Are you saying 9:30 is really early? And how on earth did you get through 6 babyhoods if you can’t get up? ROFL!

I don’t have any ice cream, but I’m making apple crisp right now and need some badly. So if you bring yours over, you can have some apple crisp with it. Deal?

    I can't log in since I don't have a blog

I do like ice cream and carmel and I think it’s a great meal any time of day.

Also… if you wait for my darling bride to gather up the cookbook materials and assemble them, you will all starve to death. (and I say that with all the love in the world)

P.S. ask her about apple lasagna

    BIG trouble…

So… “Mr. V.” is now in big trouble for playing the childish game with Jen… he felt he just HAD to post in regards to your husband’s comment on MY blog… what a stinker! As if that wasn’t bad enough… he made reference to my “Apple Lasagna”!

I shan’t bore you with the details… ‘fore I twouldn’t want to take you faithful readers of Jen’s blog… if I told you the story, I twould fear you might be wantin’ to stop at my blog more frequently… (that was kind of a mix between old english and pirate… I think)

    ANYWAY… I’m NOT telling the story… really… you can’t make me re-live it!!!!!!!!!

Not admitting to any sort of handicap in the kitchen, and trying to draw attention away by “helping” my dear sister in Christ (no thanks to my hubby… who will NOT be getting any SHMILY tonight! al;skdjf;alskdjf;alksjdf;alskdjf;laskjdf),

    Jen…

I understood you perfectly the first time and think that 9:30am is pretty early in the morning. My goodness, the alarm goes off here M-F at 7:30am and it is such an ungodly hour. It is so hard to wake up at that time. I still don’t get woke up until after 9:30, really, just go through the motions and try to fool everybody. Anyway, you did not have to clarify. You were totally understandable!

    You are Hilarious LOL

really, I am not THAT organized; it’s just a front. LOL, Just kidding! I guess I put my nose to the grindstone because I have ‘certain’ people who are constantly putting me under the microscope. Not talking about school district administration either. Just perhaps ‘not-so-well-meaning’ people who are unfortunately in my life LOL (Laughter helps me cope I think LOL) We should be finished with the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe by tonight. It’s good you guys are having fun reading it, we are too. I’m happy because I just found out that I could proctor my children’s state testing if I so desire, rather than send them to school to take the tests! But you don’t have to do the state tests, correct?

    No Ice Cream????

A couple of day’s ago I went to the store and was trying to find something that would be good yet give me and my kids some rich calcium and protein. We have been rationing it for several day and then…… it’s gone…. In one quick moment my wife scarfed down the 3 lb tub of ice cream and the caramel, which we had been putting on our toast (our fiber)…. Now what are we going to do??? Thanks to whoever gave my wife that sundae recipe!!!

BTW I hope your happy! I finally blogged on your site!!!!!!!

    cooking

It seems to be going around the blog that you have a rather obvious cooking deficiency. Now I am not agreeing or disagreeing as

    A. I have never tasted your cooking

    and

    2. You can’t always believe what you read.

That being said, however, I thought I would post a VERY easy recipe.

While feeding babies, the kids and I were watching Jeopardy and a commercial came on. Well, we mute commercials and the chilluns are supposed to avert their eyes. But I watched and there was a gal preparing supper.

Prepare some kind of noodles, she used spaghetti, drain the noodles and transfer to a bowl, liberally sprinkle said noodles with catsup. Stir and serve.

So it is a good thing I peeked at the commercials because now you have a new gourmet meal to try. Enjoy!
