Busy Busy Happy Busy

This is the fastest year I’ve ever lived.  I just realized that in three months this year will be over.  It’s just astonishing.  Saturday morning we took a bunch of pictures to send out for Grandparents Day, which was yesterday.  My husband insists on celebrating Grandparents Day — even though almost nobody has ever heard of it — but I suppose that’s because he was blessed with incredibly excellent Grandparents and he’s happy for another excuse to honor them.  And come to think of it, it must be hereditary because my kids are also blessed with incredibly excellent Grandparents and great Grandparents.  So now, I too, am a solid proponent of Grandparents Day.  Here’s the pictures that we took and will be mailing out today.

and:

and no, I don’t know what James is doing.  I am suspecting that he thought the space between his buttons was a pocket.  Either that, or he’s reaching for a gun, which would have made sense on this particular morning…

…we all *hate* picture day.  It goes something like this,

me screaming: "Hold Still!  Stand Up! Quit Messing Around! I’m going to kill each and everyone of you. Knock it off!! Now SMILE"

It is always hard trying to get everyone just right for a picture. Usually one of my kids have a finger up a nose, or something like that. Your pictures turned out good though!! Your family is so sweet!

You know what is absolutely astonishing to me…..6 kids look like a lot less than it sounds. I think that you need a couple more to really be a large family.

The pictures are definitely splenderific. You make a good picture nazi.

hey, guess what?!? I won a blue ribbon in the Sevier Co. Fair for my oatmeal raisin cookies. Which means that i will get a $4 check in the mail sometime in the next 4 months. I'll give you a call and we can go celebrate. Woo-hoo!

Maybe he's emulating Napoleon Bonaparte?? Beautiful kids – I understand why you're fearful of losing Coie. I've offered my oldest son, but she hasn't take the bait. Drat.

The swing one ROCKS….odd boy pose and all!

Very gorgeous scenery adds to the gorgeous kiddos. (and your boys sure clean up nicely….I'm used to seeing your pictures of them tromping through things…)

Awww… Jen, I just love your familia. Each one is so very special, funny and unique.

We hate picture day too. We're fine if it's just one of them, but ALL of them? No way, Jose.

We don't do grandparents day. Now that the number is dwindling due to several deaths in the past few years, I'm thinking about reinstituting… but I don't want it to be a cause of stress for me b/c they might expect something every year and then be disappointed the next year if it is forgotten or falls by the wayside. Besides, it is a conspiracy by the card companies because they are sad that no one celebrates halloween by sending cards.

ANYHOO. Maybe next year. I do love the pics, though!

Those are GREAT pictures… it took me a gazillion tries to get one of my 5 that I could use for a Christmas card… see my post here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/quietcajun/355193/

I posted all of the failed attempts… pretty hilarious!

I finally got them to cooperate when I told them that we would not have to do a photo session for Christmas photos if they would just give me one that worked!

Last year's photos took like two plus hours. I had curled my hair and by the time we got a useable group photo it was STRAIGHT again! ARGH! I wish I had curly hair… this Washington humidity won't cooperate with me anymore than my boys will cooperate for a family photo!!! LOL!

uh oh! Jordan is reading this and protesting. I guess he cooperated! I really don't remember! LOL!

    Jen,

Those are BEAUTIFUL!!!….And I am amazed that you have 6 children, ( half of whom are boys,) sitting outside in that close of proximity to a river and no one is soaking wet!

My kids would either be splashing or getting splashed…and yours look perfect! No mud or grass stains or anything! How DO you do it????

    Have you seen Babette's Feast???

I'm so glad I looked up your blog again, b/c you just crack me up! I'm going to read your last 2 posts to my kids. I have a 17 year old dd, and I'm kinda freaking out right now, too, b/c she is at courtship age, and suddenly, it's very real. I so want to trust God through it all. My dh has said they have to stay home until we're old, like in the movie Babette's Feast. However, that doesn't seem to be God's plan most of the time! The thing is, once you realize your kids are going to eventually grow up and not be in your house every day anymore, time goes at warp speed.

    Your fam is beautiful! 🙂
