Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

See? I told you my new bread maker looks like R2D2

And sure enough… last night when I got up to get a drink of water, there was a light beam of Princess Leah streaming onto my kitchen counter, and she was giving step by step instructions on how to make cinnamon buns.

While I was getting baking tips from Leah, my sons were having quite a grand time camping (out back) with their favorite fishing buddy, young master Joshua.  They did not sleep AT ALL.  But they caught a lot of fish.  Check out this big guy

And look how pretty the pond looked this morning while they were sitting on the dock eating peanut butter sandwiches and drinking hot coacoa.  I’m telling you, I *love* everything about Fall.

In other news, I’m happy to report that vegetables promote artistic ambition.  My daughter Ryann says this art project was directly inspired from being served too many peas.  Lovely, no?  By the way, that’s teriaki chicken pushed up against the potato pea production.

And to wrap things up… earlier today I was telling Coie that I was ready for a road trip.  I don’t know about you, but after a while I’m ready for a cross country outing.  I told her that I must have gypsy in my blood, because I have always been ready to roam, and then she reminded me that while I’m always “ready to roam”, I’m always equally (or more so) anxious to get back to my cozy home after a few days of driving.  And thus, concluded she, I am not at all like a gypsy, but rather I’m more like a homing pigeon.  That girl sure knows how to ruin a good simile. Having pigeon in my blood is *way* less quixotic than having gypsy in my blood.  It seems a little unsanitary, too.

    I have to agree:

Your bread machine DOES look like R2D2!

    That was an amazing catch!

    Your pond is simply breathtaking!

And I definately agree with Ryann- That was WAY to many peas… with my morning sick tummy, I almost couldn't look at them all!

I think I'll just stick to my 7-up and saltine crackers for the next couple of months 🙂

I'm nearly ready for a trip too. Especially after this week of baby and his double ear infection ;0) But like you, I'm a homing pigeon—never sleep as well away from home.

I don't think we'll make the barn dance. I'm sorry. But you are welcome to make a road trip to visit me!

    Me too!

We have not gone anywhere in far too long, but we are going to borrow the in-laws vehicle this weekend (so we all can fit) and take a day trip. I have been pretty vocal about 'going' lately and I think hubby is trying to appease me before I start talking about all of us moving off to some foreign land again.

Hmmm….I'll have to try the more vegetable approach….my kids need to be more artistic:)

I've been wanting to take a camping trip since the nights have cooled off…but we can't seem to fit it in…..maybe soon. Hope you get your trip:)

ROFL – so much like me!!

Are we sisters and don't know it.

I come and read your blogs and sometimes it's like your reading my mind – minus me not having as many kids as you.LOL.

My bread machine is the SAME exact one!!! Though I've never had Leah give me directions. Your's must be special :-).

I too am a gypsy at heart – which isn't always a good thing. But I think God gave me a DH that has DEEP roots when it comes to wandering, so I never get very far. LOL.

I'd take a road trip with ya… where do you want to go? 🙂

    Have a GREAT weekend.

Oh by the way, are you all REAL fishermen and actually EAT your fish or are you the sissy kind and throw it back ;-).

Love ya ( can you tell my coffee was strong this morning?)

You could have said that on the side there was the fish B/J caught. I bet everyone would have believed you.

Mikki… we are the sissy kind, although we HAVE fried up some of the catch. mostly we don't hook anything. when our guests come over, they always seem to catch a ton of fish and sometimes they take it home.

And YES! i say lets plan big and go on a tour to Italy! I'll start packing, when can you get here?

    I love the food photo!

I must be a little bit pigeon myself. I also get that strong urge for road-trips! Luckily, my DH usually indulges me somewhat, and takes me to the nearest city where we shop, go to zoos, etc….but what I'm REALLY longing for, and what I've been pestering him for for years (honestly, you can ask him on this one) is to visit YOUR neck of the woods! I want to see the Smokies, go to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Dollywood. We briefly drove through that area once on our way to Atlanta, and ever since I have wanted to go back and see more!

But…for now…I guess I'll settle for trips to Milwaukee, Madison or Green Bay…..;-)

PS – I LOVE Fall, too!!!!

Wow, what a HUGE fish! So did ya fry it up like a good southern gal?

As to the travelling, you and the rest of the Igarashi clan are always welcome at our house. I believe you can catch an interstate to Dallas and then take I-45 south to Houston. Or head south from where you are now and take I-10 west.

I'll keep the light on for you!

    Love,

Funny girl…amazing fish, and Gorgeous pond!!

Hilarious homing pidgeon remark. Isn't it annoying when are kids get too witty for their own good?

And speaking of driving…come try it aloha-style here on Oahu… what sort of driver are you? Come read my post on "driving with aloha…" Christa

You missed a great pun or two!

I can't believe that with that R2D2 in your kitchen you were not inspired to tell Ryann to "Use the *Forks* and may *Peas* be with you"….

Maybe you need to road trip to our village so Kris' boys can teach you a thing or two about a thing or two 🙂

I always love reading your blog, Jen! But as a Star Wars geek, I have to point out that it is Princess LEIA, not Princess Leah. Regardless of how you spell it, she would be the one to coach you on cinnamon buns, considering the hairdo she sported….

Quixotic? Is that a word? Or is that another Igarism? (LOVE the Igarisms!)

Homing pigeons make much better mothers than gypsies… just sayin'.

R2-bread maker. Now all you need is the C3PO Crock Pot, the Millenium Falcon Food Processor, and the Death Star Salad Bowl.

Love your entries! They always make me smile!

    Many blessings!
