Happy New Car Day
Thanks skdenfeld , for the Happy New Car Day wishes, and a happy day it has been. You know that scene at the end of It’s A Wonderful Life, where Jimmy Stewart looks like he’s going to grin himself into a coma on account of the miraculous overflow of generosity from friends? That’s how I’ve felt over this last week or so. A few posts back, many of you said that you were praying for our car situation, and that you were looking forward to hearing what our Lord would do. Well, He used His people in different ways that have just brought us to our knees in gratitude, in amazement and really – even tho we should know better – in disbelief. We are happy to welcome the arrival of a brand new bouncing baby Saturn to the Ig household. Isn’t he cute? This little guy was originally priced at $4,900 – but because of a set of different circumstance, the dealer gave it to us for $1,000 UNDER Kelly blue book value. I actually was afraid to get it because the whole thing was just too good to be true. Happily for me, my husband is a certified genius and was able to inspect the car from rubber to roof (plus the carfax info helped) and he is convinced that this lovely little guy is a dependable, sturdy, dream come true. Even with the mark down we were still about $300 to $400 short of what we felt comfortable spending but then later today guess what literally came out of the blue? $500. Holy Moly, I know I shouldn’t be surprised but it just stuns me at how our Lord provides ‘above and beyond’ what we need. We had an impromptu Welcome to the Family party… Maria Roy was on hand, and here she is looking warily into the enormous trunk. No dead Here is Sami … there is nothing sweeter than helpful big sisters. I love that girl! Anyways, sorry for such an abundance of sap – but seriously, this was a very awesome day |

Isn't God great? I am so happy for you and your car situation. A couple of weeks ago we completely messed up our finances by both of us paying the bills at the same time, and not telling the other one. DUMB! We had a major hurdle to go over, and I mentioned the mess we were in to a dear sister in the Lord. Well, the next day, I had gifts show up in my inbox, exactly the amount of our short fall! And the crazy thing was that some of the givers were homeschoolers that I didn't even know personally, just by name. Isn't that wild? Then a few days later hubby got a nice bonus from work.
God is amazing.
You are an amazing writer and I love your blog. I am jealous of your dirth of comments though. (Whatever "dirth" is. LOL)

Praise the Lord for his provision!! Now you'll have a little Saturn convoy wherever you travel!! I can see the glimmer in Geoff's eye…He's thinking "Okay, supercharger, stall converter, and some racing slicks in the back, and we'll have this thing down to 13 seconds in the quarter mile…" 🙂

hey nancy, the IgTranspoter holds 5 fully formed humans. and i liked your word, 'dirth', even though it was unfindable on websters.com. the closest i could find was 'berth' — a large holding container (which could describe our trunk), or girth — the measurments around the waist, or dirge — a sorrowful song usually played in conjunction with a funeral procession.

I can't wait until I get up early tomorrow morning, sit down with my Bible and prayer journal, and get to write "Thank you Lord" next to "The Ig's Car" 🙂 Yes, the Lord is so good…I stand amazed daily at all He does…and for US. What a wonderful, loving God!

WAY COOL!!!
That is SO awesome! God IS SO good! Do you know what I drive? I big ol' '94 Dodge Ram van, w/almost 180,000 miles on it, the fan in the heat/ac needs fixed, the driver's side AND passenger's side windows don't open so the only air on warm days comes in from the front wings and the little punch out windows in the rest of the van. We're hoping to eeek one more year out of it and then get a "newly used" SUV.
Jasper drives Ty's old '96 Honda Accord w/210,000 miles on it…and it's in better shape than my van! Go figure. I guess that's why Hondas are SO great!
So happy about your new car. Woohoo!!!
