May Thankfulness Be a Way of Life — An Every Day Habit
This has been one of those satisfying weeks. Nothing in particular, I’m just thankful – which is appropriate, I suppose, on account of the upcoming holiday – can you believe it is already the middle of November??? Over the last year or so I’ve finally, truly understood that *anything* in life is bearable as long as you are thankful. It’s true. Which also reminds me — I finished the book, Miss Miles by Mary Taylor. One of the ongoing quotes that was used by one of the characters was (paraphrase) “if your troubles are overwhelming, very likely it’s because you are too focused on them; the remedy is to find somebody else in need and set about helping them” I love that. It’s so true. And there is *always* somebody within our sphere that is in need of help. So anyways, yesterday we spent the day with several of our favorite friends (one of our party was sadly absent) playing chess. On the way home, it started snowing. What a scene *that* caused. And then we got home and Geoff chainsawed firewood and all the kids hauled it to the porch. I wish autumn could last about four more months. In other news, in case you saw Coie’s recent post where she’s sporting her average “this is comfy so I’m wearing it” garb, I’d like to submit the following corroborating evidence — and yes, she’s knitting. Is that not just plum odd? That’s Bobo’s barn hat For good measure, here are my other quirky daughters. and see? That’s the cozy fire we had just made to stave off the below freezing temps. and Emmiko Lastly, there is still time to get in on Ruth’s contest. She is drawing a winner on Saturday; i hope I win!

I completely relate to the whole "I'm wearing it because it's comfortable" garb and knitting — well, maybe not the hat! lol
Looks like winter has arrived!

Great Quote!
So, funny you should pick that particular quote. That same philosophy was one my mom instilled in my sister and me. Thanks for sharing it… and the pictures of your daughters. You can definately tell they're all from the same gene pool. 🙂
Blessings,
Michelle

Wow
Okay, the snow is just soooo unfair. Would you believe it was 89 degrees here on Wednesday? But, how can I complain about the weather when it's the Lord's choice who gets summer heat and who gets snow. Please do enjoy those chilly temps and cozy fires. I think I'll go crank down the a/c to 50 and put on a sweatshirt.

Coie is definitely in her own category. I wanted to classify her- hippy? 20s Gangter? Hippy Gangster that knits comfortably? I can't seem to do it. She's is definitely in a class of her own- a trendsetter. I love it!
and MAN is Ryann's hair long.. what pretty girls!! 🙂

I've heard a similar method to combating temptation – when you are struggling with a particular sin – you take the focus off your own struggle and think of others that may be struggling in the same way – and start praying. I have always been amazed at the results in this area.

I agree that I would like to have Fall last a bit longer, but then we never get Winter down here. First fall then spring….where is the winter?! Send a few flurries south!!

Amen! I wrote an eBook called The Word on Thanksgiving that talks about being thankful all the time and not just on Thanksgiving.
Hey come on over to my blog. I'm having another fun contest! Pass it on!

Jen, I do love your blog. Unfailingly it makes me laugh and gives me a glimpse of kingdom life… not that I don't live one myself, but I love glimpses into others :). And Coie's outfit looks exactly like something my sister Becky would wear. Sometimes in public. She alternates between dressing like that and looking incredibly sophisticated and creative.

That's Emmiko? When did she get all growed up? She's so beautiful– just like her sisters and momsie.
I'm jealous of your snow. We just get rain here. Lots of it right now. The high tomorrow is 75. Cuhrazy.
As for being thankful, have you seen <a href="http://antiquemommy.com/2007/11/12/what-goes-around">THIS POST?</a>

thanks marshie, that post was well worth the read…
and about emmiko being all growed up, if you look closely, you'll see the video monitor behind her… which is playing Veggie Tales. She is still my little girl, but i can't imagine that will last too much longer <sigh>

My girls refuse to be anything but comfortable. I've timed them when we get back home from being out and about. It takes them about 22 seconds flat to get back in the comfy clothes!
Can't say as I blame them!
