Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

I’ve totally lucked out in the brother-in-law department. Seriously. For Christmas, Jessica’s husband made my girls these incredible intricate and tremendously lovely necklaces, which he hand carved, right? And, at the time, in jest (sort of in jest, but also in full seriousness) I whined how it wasn’t fair that *I* didn’t get an excellent necklace and demanded – I mean, requested– a butterfly necklace (despite the carved ‘Igarashi bear’, the two tree swings, the hacksaw, the cutting board, etc that he’s bestowed upon us). I really wanted a necklace like my girls’ got.

So anyhow, the weekend hit, and I was minding my own business when all of a sudden this box shows up with birthday gifts for Ryann and Coie… and non-birthday gifts for *me* — including a very cool hoodie, candy bars AND, check it out… an exquisite hand carved butterfly necklace !!!!! I was stunned. I mean, I whine all the time about stuff I want and I never get it, and so I really had not even a hint of an idea that I would get one!

Is that not incredible? He CARVED that. Don’t ask me how, I have no idea. I can’t even carve a turkey. I have the most talented, brilliant, generous, genius, brodie-in-law in all of the East Western hemisphere

And since I’m sharing pictures, these are my new favorite slippers (that I wear non-stop), which my beautiful momsie-in-law gave me. Ryann took the picture. See how almost practically dainty they make my big old clunkish size nines appear? They are my optical illusion slippers and I *heart* them.

In other news, guess who turns 14 tomorrow?  I don’t know how I ended up with such perfectly excellent daughters. Ryann defies description. I cannot tell you how proud I am of her. I’ve never known anybody like her – so lovely, so quick to make everybody feel welcome, the way she singles out anybody who’s lonely – she has a knack for making people feel loved. But most of all, she loves God with her whole heart and continually strives to do right. I am the luckiest mama on the face of the planet. If you have daughters, you know what I mean when I say there is just nothing in the world that compares. My prayer is that my girls’ will be as blessed by someday ending up with children as lovely as they are.

Happy Sigh. This week is off to a good start.

Oh, and i almost forget.  I had the weirdest dream.  over the last ten years i periodically dream that my teeth are crumbling up and falling out (totally stressful!).  the other night, i dreamed that me and geoff were on vacation and my bottom teeth were breaking into little peices.  After a while, i had a whole mouthful of broken teeth pieces.  So i went into the bathroom to spit them out, and i realized that my whole row of bottom teeth were crumbling and falling out because a brand new row of straight white teeth were coming up to replace them.  It was so odd.

    You are such a lucky-ducky!

-that is a tres cool necklace

-I heart your slippers too! I need to replace my old ratty ones.

    -Happy Birthday to Ryann!!!

Most luckiest of all is your dream. I have the teeth falling out dream all the time, except in *my* dream there is NO replacement! Just gummin' it with a few horrid jagged pieces of leftover teeth. ACK!

I've missed you. It's good to be home, sweet home.

After hearing so many parents say things like "I hope they have a child just like they are someday (bratty)" it's wonderful to hear you wish that they will be blessed with children as lovely as they are! Happy birthday to your dear girl!

Kristina… deal. but you should analyze it ANYWAYS especially on account of the fact that i went to the store today and bought you something. actually, technically coie bought it because i didn't have any cash on me, but *whatever* that's only a minor detail

Now, I don't go around second guessing God's plan as a habit, but I always thought He was a little short sighted in giving us but two sets of teeth to last us a life-time. And that one pair lasts us only a couple of years too! completely not fair to the other set.

    Love the slippahs!

Alas, I can't wear slippers like that because they make my size 7 feet look dwarfish. I need shoes that are more proportionate to my 5'7" tall body! Bizarre.

I hear ya on the bizarre dreams week. I keep having strange dreams too. I think our dreams must somehow reveal our deep fears. Are you secretly worried about your teeth?

I have dreamed about my teeth crumbling from time to time over the last 20 years or so. Weird. I'm always so happy to wake up and find them still intact! My mom got dentures when she was a senior in high school. Can you imagine? Praise God for teeth.

Happy Birthday to your Ryann! 🙂

There are times that I think being your child would be really entertaining.

Can you post a close up of that necklace…it looks really detailed and beautiful.

Sometimes I truly wish I had Daniel or Joseph's abilities to interpret dreams! I thought my recent weird dreams were just being caused by pregnancy hormones. Perhaps there's something you don't know??? 🙂

My last weird dream brought about a HUGE epiphany about something I've been struggling about for a LOOONNNNGGG time (kinda personal so I won't elaborate) and sent me into prayer for hours in the middle of the night. As far as crumbling teeth dreams… any hidden epiphany that you hadn't yet considered? 🙂 Still, maybe it's just spicy food, too much chocolate, or girly hormones. 🙂

Happy day after birthday to Ryann!

That is a most awful dream. I can't imagine, I really can't. I had really weird dreams when I was pregnant…

I like your necklace… I'll try to suppress the temptation to covet.

I'm fairly certain that I would not want to wear anything carved by my brother-in-law! He's a mean chef…but carving..not so much! That's beautiful! You should post a closeup so we could all be REALLY jealous!

    Happy Birthday to Ryann!

I hate those kinds of dreams! I dream of my teeth becoming loose, and then they all fall out in clumps into my hands. horrible! So you are not the only one to have nasty teeth falling out dreams.

Your blogs just crack me up. They are so eclectic, I just never know what I'm going to get when I open one up… sort of like the prize in the Cracker Jack box. BTW, my two 21 year old girls make me feel like yours does. I think they bless me more than anyone.

    I think

I think you are a shark and that your next layer of teeth are sprouting. LOL

:+) A VERY happy belated to Ryann. What a dear girl she is. (Talking at this very moment with my own dear girl.) :+)

    Love you!

Haven't stopped by in a while, but saw that you are 35 for a few days still (that puts us both in the same "35" category) and was reminded just how much I love your blog. And visiting here didn't disappoint! I love your baby goats! I'm so sorry you and Coie got sunburned! Very cool butterfly necklace! (Shame on your whining! ^_^) And your feet really DO look diminutive in those adorable slippers!
