Naming Coie's Kids

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything goes… right?  Yep, they’re rare, but this was one of them.  Or maybe it’s just something about Spring that makes the pleasant seem perfect.

First, though, check this out:

The other day my artistic daughter, Emmiko, told me that she was going outside to make a home made fishing pole.  I nodded and smiled dutifully and she pattered away. The next day, she announced that she had caught a fish with said home made fishing pole.  That kid never ceases to astound me.

Ok, now on to all of the fun news.  First of all, my dad cemented his travel plans and will be here the third week of June.  We are *so* excited.  This will be the first time he has met any of my children in person.  And they are all in an uproar.  They are practicing songs, making up skits, polishing up their gymnastic tricks, etc all with grand ideas of keeping him completely entertained for the three or four nights he’ll be staying with us.  Poor guy.  Dad, if you’re reading this… be prepared for a great lack of sleep.  Hopefully all 25+ years of that military training will kick in and sustain you through a constant stream of heavy juvenile bombardment. Heh heh.

The second fun news is that yesterday I spoke with Rosetta Stone again.  It looks like things are moving forward for me and Coie to do homeschool shows this season.  They have two teams of reps who cover the ‘main’ shows, and we’d be one of them.  I am really excited about this.  They are an excellent company and the top language company out there – so it will be fun and easy to represent them.  The first show we may do is in MN (April 18/19). Some of their other shows are in CA, TX, IN, IL, PA, FL, VA, MS – we won’t do all of them (they are split between the two teams).  I will list the ones we get set up for and you will HAVE to come and see us if we are in your area!  There is nothing funner than meeting fellow bloggers.

The third fun news is that Coie figured out that at least four of her goats will have goat babies soon (at first she thought only two were pregnant).  This morning, Coie and Ryann and I spent a large amount of time coming up with goat baby names… which, incidentally, is almost as fun as coming up with human baby names.  We figure we may have as many as 10 babies since goats are known to have twins and triplets.  Here’s what we’ve come up with so far: Disco, Jovial, Willikers, Kiwi, Periwinkle, Sundae, Cranberry and Kimono.

Fun, no?  Unfortunately, the conversation then morphed into naming Coie’s future human children.  And that was only fun until it suddenly hit me that if she is having real children then that means she is married and not living in my house anymore.  So that lost its charm pretty quick.

Lastly, my sister got called in, and selected, to sit in on a jury.  I don’t know about you, but that actually sounds like great fun to me.  It would be neat to be a part of something so important.  She said she’s already learned a ton about the judicial system.

Neat on the fishing pole! I'm always so impressed with the skills of all your babies, especially the girls! And I saw that Rosetta is coming to Texas, but it's a 6 hour drive from me, and only one week AFTER my due date. So, even if you get to go to that one, I won't be able to visit. But I promise, we will meet someday!! And love the names. Not sure which is my favorite: Jovial or Cranberry. You'll have to post pics of the babies when they get here.

If you want to bring that Rosetta Stone tour to Canada…

we could help y'all out with the proper usage of the letter 'U' and how to pronounce some words, such as 'foyer'.

Oh, and here's a goat name you maybe didn't think of – "Billy".

    ah yes

jury duty. been there, done that.

sat in on one case and afterward went home and reminded my boys to NEVER do drugs.

I also had one of the most interesting conversations in my life so far during my one day of jury duty.

that led me to call upon you to be my theology teacher.

maybe she should just call in sick that day …

I love naming stuff. I've always wanted to be a professional namer. I can do paint or nail polish colors. I would love to name the Cabbage Patch Kid dolls. Goats, I can see, would be fun too.

You called me Gidget! That's pretty much the MOST fabulous thing that's happened all day, and this has been a good day! I LOVE Gidget!! I've never been called Gidget before!

you should name one (a boy) Charley, and another (a girl) jessi. then they could grow up, get married and have babies. Plus, you could go see them whenever you wanted to.

Thank you for gracing my blog with a comment from the celebrated JenIg! I feel like somebody really famous noticed me, lol! I learned recently that some of the public libraries have Rosetta Stone in their data bases. Card-holding patrons can use their curriculum online for free. It would be a great deal if one was a resident of such a community…! (Alors, pas moi.)

Hi Jen thank you so much for the email. Sorry my blog is a slow-loader 😛

It looks like Spring there! I want backyard chickens, and need to plan the backyard jungle too.

    Have a great weekend!

    Hey there

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi!

I would LOVE to catch up with you if you are in town. I'm not going to FPEA this year – but I can still take a trip down to say hi.

    Just keep me posted!

Have a great weekend. Our neighbors goats are set to have babies in a couple weeks. I can't wait. They are so cute.

Never mind about the goats, If you come to the TX panhandle, I would just about bust a gasket if I got to meet you!! (In a totally non-stalker like way, of course…)

I hope she's not going to be sitting on a jury for someone that is being tried for cutting down Christmas trees from the side of the road. That would be… awkward.

YOU HAVE TO COME TO TX AND SEE ME!!! Okay, or I'll come see you. BUT COME TO HOUSTON. HOUSTON!!! Not Dallas or Austin or San Antonio. HOUSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry. Was that confusing? Did you know that I live in Houston? Good.

I do conventions for Alpha Omega! I'll be at 9 shows this year…including one this weekend here in Illinois! It would be VERY cool if we worked at some of the same shows. Let me know when you get your schedule and I'll compare it to mine! COOL!

I'm glad your week was so wonderful. And I TOTALLY hear you about thinking that having your growing up girls leave the nest is NOT something to be excited about!

I was going to suggest that you name one after one of my children but then what if it was an ornery goat? Or worse, what if that goat died?! So nevermind. Coie and Ryann can do the honorable naming ritual with their own children. Besides, you *know* Coie will have to have an Elizabeth. Bwahahhaha!!

Firstly, Mrs. Ig., I hope you do a show thing in FL… and somewhere close to where I like, at that. That would be marvelous.

And secondly, I'm so happy that your goats are going to have a little babies.

And thridly, I can't wait for Coie to get married and have kids. That'll make me Aunt Kait the Great Igarashi. 🙂

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, darling Kait the Great, i would be so excited to see you… although i'd be mighty tempted to shove you into my suitcase and bring you home with me! can't you put some pressure on your beautiful momsie and talk your family into moving up here??!!

    Really… you ought… think of the children….

    Hi back at ya!

Thanks for stopping by to say hi, Jen. I don't know how you do it with such a huge friends list! Now if we can just get you up here to the NW corner of the country ….

Congrats on all the cool stuff in your life. You're going to have quite the calendar here shortly!

Our life's been going fairly well, up until tonight. Farm disaster. You'll have to come read about the fun — I'm sure you'll appreciate the humor, as a fellow "farm girl."

And yes, I've got a pretty smart little one — and sounds like you do too!

I'm so glad you had such a great week!! Don't you just love the warmer weather? It's been so nice here, too, and I'm just itching to get out there and do something in that nice weather! Enjoy seeing your Dad!! That's going to be so great!

    God bless you ~ Julie

I enjoyed visting with you last whenever-it-was, too. Hate I was late, and you left early!

I like Willikers. Is that as in Golly Gee? Maybe that could be another name or two, especially if it's twins or triplets!

Frodo, or Hobbit, I absolutely insist! 😛 Good luck with the baby goats, what fun!

    So if Coie has "kids",

does that mean that you are a

"Grand Maaaaaa?" (insert goat noise here)

    Sorry – I couldn't resist. 😉

I love the names you all chose!
