This Post is 80% About Food
My pain tolerance is ludicrously low. Anyways, I am feeling tons better and — despite the advocacy to the contrary — I am now officially off drugs. I was surprised at the amount of emails I got saying the same thing: “You are a much better writer when you’re doped up”. Which leads me to wonder…. of those who consistently show up here, how many are under the influence? I submit it’s probably quite high. So anyways, I’m glad I’m feeling better cause I gots all sorts of things coming up. I can’t believe me and Coie leave for FL in just six days. Did I already tell you that we’re renting a car and driving down? Whooo hoooo!! Who wants to meet us at Chevys Fresh Mex in Speaking of Chevys, we are also going to hit the Chevys in Ok, in other news, nothing in my garden is growing. I can’t figure out why. In other-ly news, my friend Amy S, over at Heart of the Matter, asked if I’d join their team and submit monthly articles. Neato times 2! I’m excited; I love those guys over there. ALARMING UPDATE ALERT. While writing this, I’ve just been informed that the Chevys in IL has been closed. CLOSED. Good Heavens, what is the world coming to??!! Lastly… Congrats to my little brother Jay (you guys didn’t know I had a brother, did you? I have two, actually. Both of them are named James, after my dad). He is graduating high school today, and last night he went in to sign up for the marines. Ok, i just read thru this post, and I’m afraid that my ‘being off drugs’ claim is rather unconvincing. Does Excedrin count as drugs? |

Saving the Sunshine for you!
So glad to hear you'll be headed our way soon.
Man! Do we have a lot in common. Chevy's is our FAVORITE place to eat at when we go down to Orlando!! I love the Chicken Flauta's!! YUMO!!!
Would love to join up with you if I can, but with gas prices, it will be a wait and see. (Not going to the convention either).
Would love to chat with you about how you got into selling Rosetta Stone and traveling. My oldest daughter and I would like to get into something like that.
Hope you are feeling better soon…
I'll be sipping some ice tea thinking of your travels here…

The fresh mex place sounds divine, but with gas prices lately, I don't think I'll meet you in Orlando.
I was out of pocket all weekend and then some, so I missed your whole surgery story. Glad you're feeling better and off the pills!

What?? Jay went in to sign up for the Marines last night?? I don't know nuth'n around here!!!! Well, lucky ME, I get to go TO his graduation tonight. Maybe I'll get to hear the news from him- the mighty talented breakdancing graduate himself! Maybe I'll get doubly lucky and he'll do a little breakdance for everyone right on stage when he gets his diploma. I certainly wouldn't put it past him. We definitely have the coolest little brothers ever.

Showing my ignorance
Call me out of touch, but I have never been to a Chevys. We'll have to hit that one time when we are in Orlando again. What makes a Chevys so awesome? It must be good if you are willing to fight traffic on Colonial Drive!

There is probably a much more direct way to get to FL from TN, but if you are anywhere near Raleigh, I INSIST that you and Coie come visit us. I will bribe you with yummy food. I don't know what kind yet, but I guarantee it will be yummy and you all will be most welcome. email me! Veronica

I'll be there
I'm not sure when you are planning on going to Chevy's , but I could seriously drink their salsa, and I too am lamenting the loss of access to my local tex-mex place. I will be there as often as possible over the great FPEA weekend…I will probably keep salsa in my hotel room and drink it for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm not sure which I am more excited for…FPEA, seeing old friends, or Chevy's.

Your comment at my blog made me laugh right out loud! I can't believe you remembered the other dream, even though it was ferrets, not monkeys. K (bensrib)

Hello Friend!
Did you know that today is the 48th Anniversary of the laser beam….I thought this may be of interest to you and your kidney stone! (or should I say kidney boulder!)
Love to you and yours!

Glad to hear you are semi-lucid once more, though I agree you were highly entertaining in your post-surgical fog. Thought I'd mention that our crew of 5 South Carolinians and a Georgian will be road-tripping to FPEA, and if we haven't overdosed on trans-fats by the time we get to Orlando, we'll be up for Chevy's! When I lived in FL, one of my faves was Rio Bravo, which I THINK is similar to Chevy's. Looking forward to seeing you and meeting Coie!

we'll be in FL too, I hope!?
Hey Jen.,
Me, Ryan and the boys are leaving out next Sun. morning for a week in Panama City Beach, I hope. We relied on the gov. for that stimulus thing, that's stimulated frustration more than the economy. Needless to say, it won't be here before our trip so we're scrambling to have a yard sale, so come on out!! What a coincidence that ya'll will be there too. I've never been to Orlando before. Nope, my parent's deprived me of the DisneyWorld rush. Wow, your bro's going into the Corps. My older brother went in a decade + ago and it really changed him. He went in as a scraggley boy with a mullet (hey, they were in at the time, although I still don't know why) and he came out a lean-muscular-never-fought-in-a-war-fighting machine. As far as disciplined, well let's not go there. I am glad you are weaning off those narcotics. At 18 I had my tonsils and rhinoplasty done and a week later I was still on the good stuff and my mom took them away and left me in agonizing pain for a couple of days. Come to find out I had a severe case of thrush and she felt sooooooo bad that I got the good drugs back. Listen to your body. If your in pain then, the weird thing is, you probably are!!!! hahahaha!
Get to feeling better,
Love,
Megan Reed
