Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

**** edit and update below on the incredibly impossible email I got yesterday….

It’s just non-stop excitement round these here parts.  First of all, check this out:

My husband sent me and Jess and Coie to pick up a goat, right?  And being the impulsive personality I am, I also brought home a puppy.  I couldn’t help it.  I mean, here was this cute little hotdog jumping around my feet just begging to come with us.  So I said to the goat-dealer, “Can I have this dog?” and she said, “Sure”.  And that was that.  I named her Phoebe.

She and the new goat, John Crumb, snuggled all the way home.

But the big news is that I got my sister here until Tuesday.  More importantly, we’ve got her husband.

Jess married the coolest guy on the planet.  Boy did we luck out to get him in the family.  I mean, she’s cool too and all, but she can’t build stuff.  Except salsa.  She’s a pretty good salsa constructor.

So anyways, Charley is always “Mr. Project” when they come out.  Guess what he’s doing right now?  He’s in the process of building a 500 ft amusement-park style zip-line that’s gonna run lengthwise across the pond.

Here’s the starting point…  see the yellow climbing rope at the bottom?  You probably cannot tell from the picture, but he’s building the platform about 40 ft up in this tree.  He also got a bunch of harnesses and other zip line paraphanelia — this thing is gonna be a real-life professional grade zip.   My kids are beside themselves.

I am now taking reservations and selling tickets.  When he’s done, Curry Farm will officially be the funnest place in all of East TN.  Now you have more of a reason to come visit when you’re passing thru.  I will be posting pics soon.

Lastly, I got an email with some extraordinary impossibly incredible unbelievable news.  But I think I must be mistaken and could not have read the email correctly, therefore, I will hold off telling you about it.  Seriously, it cannot be true.

Ok, I gotta go figure out where to find a roller skating rink.

*** edit… ok, this is completely impossible… I don’t know if you guys remember last year when our van broke down, but (thanks to our church and certain friends) we were able to get a little car for Geoff, and Coie had her little car … but ever since, we’ve not been able to drive anywhere together as a family.  Ok, so get this, yesterday my SC friend — whom I won’t name because I didn’t get permission, but it starts with SH and rhymes with hay — sent me an email saying that they want to GIVE us their 96 Suburban, which has a new transmission and new AC unit.  um…. WHO in the WORLD just GIVES a family their Suburban????  So, we’re all freaking out over here and now we will also be able to take a trip to CA and haul back all our junk in storage.  Did you hear that Kate?? We’re gonna be able to come to CA!!  I’m about to faint.  I still think it’s impossible.  It is impossible.

And while I’m relating impossibly good news, this week when me and Coie got back from our Rosetta Stone FL trip, my husband was able to give his notice and quit his graveyard job… so now, after a year, we finally get him back.  He will not be CONSTANTLY gone nor eternally sleep deprived.  He’ll now only work 50-60 hours a week instead of 105.  I am so praising God.  I cannot tell you how overjoyed my family is.  I am still waiting to wake up.

Cute dog and goat, but a ZIP LINE… that is just WAY too cool! Wouldn't your brother-in-law enjoy visiting East Texas too? I'm a great cook… AND we have LOTS of huge pine trees just crying out for a zip line, and we even have 2 ponds the lines could span. Although….. our boys would want to stop mid-zip to hover for a while to fish. Would be lots of fun though!

    You are crazy.

That must be why I like you so much.

I am so excited for you to have Jess and Charley there! We're actually going to be putting up our zip line really soon too. It's going to go from the island, across the pond and smack into a tree. So the kids better jump off in time, but not too soon lest they fall in the water… bwahahahahaha! Actually, the little rope harness they can sit in to zip is the best… even a simple rope loop would work. But that would be simple and dullsville for your super handyman.

I see I'm not the only one who toments their readers by telling them they have super exciting news and then refuses to tell them what it is! Hehehe!

So, the question is – will the zip line work in January when we come your way? Or will it be too covered in ice to run then? If it isn't working, I'm going to be REALLY bummed and may have to reconsider our trip! (Just kidding. We will come anyway!)

From Mr. Sh (and rhymes with "hay")

First of all…Yes, it is "totally" possible! (california lingo there).

Secondly that photo is NOT the picture of the real tan suburban…you are making us look too good.

Lastly, I would like to state for the record that God put it in my heart to ask my work to give us my company car to take to seminary…and they said YES! My point being, this whole thing is God's fault and He is the culprit in the Down South Holy Car Shuffle car game.

ENJOY the vehicle and remember that our God is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

Luke 12:29-31 β€œAnd don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need." AMEN!

You are having a pretty great summer, and its not even really summer yet!

It is so cool when what we thought was impossible comes turns out better than we could have imagined. God is so like that isn't He?

When we lived on a summer camp we had dogs and a goat too. The goat thought he was a dog, and they hung out together always.

    Your new puppy is adorable.

Hope your summer keeps going strong –

well, Mr. Shay, I am just praising God all the way around — for what God has been doing in our life and what He's been doing with your household. It's all so amazing. We sure are blessed to have your family in our lives. Ryann is super excited to come out to help you move, so tell your bride to hurry up and give me a good day to bring her out!

The Suburban is a must have for families our size. The big question is, what are you going to name it?

With ours we tried the MonkMobile, Big Red (it's maroon in color), the Beast, the Monster, etc. We came up with the perfect name when we got our new license plates. They began in HFY so.. Heifer. Perfect.

    What a blessing (x3!!!)

First off…that puppy is just WAY too cute! I would have taken him (or her?) too!!! The goat is also rather adorable too, (are you going to butcher this one? Poor kid.) πŸ˜‰

Next, that zip-line. Oh my goodness. That would be my kids' dream! I literally cannot show my son or he will find a way to show up on your doorstep and annoy you until he gets to try it. Your BIL is one cool uncle to give your kids a gift like that!

And finally – the truck….Wow! That is just a magnificent blessing and I am SO happy for your family! I pray that God finds a way to bless the (ahem) "anonymous" gift giver for her generosity, too. πŸ™‚

How bout that! We also had a vehicle given to us and there's not many times I look at it that I don't think of how kind God is to care about little old us, and how awesome it is to think that he enjoys orchestrating these little surprises. Why are we so surprised when he does such big things?–Kim

When we received a minivan from an anonymous donor back in '98, it was the one & only time we got personalized license plates to praise God and witness to those who asked about them. They said "GODGFT 4"

    Still rejoicing with you all!
