Opal Saves the Day
I am plum tuckered. I can’t remember being as tired as I have been these last couple of days. This week will be nice because I aint got nothin’ going on. I am going to lay around and be lazy until Saturday. It will be a smidge harder being lazy, though, because my left arm is in SC for the week. Me, Coie, James and Dippy drove Ryann out so she could spend the week helping the Carrs pack up and move to GA. Isn’t it ironic that the family who is giving us their Suburban is named “the Carrs”? Ryann was thrilled to go. From what I heard, they have some special things planned, like swimming and horseback riding. We have the greatest friends ever.
In other news, did I mention how tired I am? I hope I liven up soon, because we have a LOT scheduled. This week we need to get everything in order because my dad (affectionately called Mr. Grand by my family) is going to be here next Sat. We are *so* looking forward to it. He has been writing letters back and forth to my kids for about six months. It will be the first time my dad ever meets any of my kids and also the first time he will meet Geoff the Great. It’s going to be very sweet. And fun. My dad’s a groovy guy.
And then as soon as my dad leaves, Coie and I take off for Ohio. This time we are going to bring Emmiko and Bobo with us. They will be a great help, plus it will just be fun spending two on two time with them. They are very excited and I am, too.
And then when we get back, our friends from MO will spend the 4th of July weekend with us, and then the following month the Carrs are spending a week with us. I love having so much fun stuff to do, and it’s even better now that Geoff is down to only one job. It’s weird having him here so much. And I mean ‘weird’ in an uncommonly fabulous type of way. I like that fellow.
Lastly, guess what happened to me when I was about to leave to return the rental car? Bobo locked the keys inside the PT Cruiser. And it was stressful because I only had a short amount of time before getting charged for an extra day. That was the first time I ever called a locksmith. And I ended up getting a lady locksmith. I didn’t know that locksmiths came in “lady”. And she was normal, too. After calling the office, I sort of imagined a big burly bertha tearing up my drive way in a pickup truck to rescue my keys, but no, it was a girl around my age who seemed average and ordinary. Except that her name was Opal. I have never met anybody named Opal before.
Lastly last, I am *trying* to upload the video of me and Winona singing our heads off on the way up to IL, but my crummy computer is rebelling. I might not be able to post it after all, which, in reality, would be lucky for you.
So, in the meantime, here is another video (that Jess showed) me, which you are sure to enjoy:

Dad is not going to know what to do with himself! He’s going to have a blast! 🙂 I’m so jealous! Maybe he wouldn’t notice if I sneak in his suitcase and go with. I’m glad you’re home and I’m especially glad that you have a little bit of time to rest up before the next show. And i STILL crack up every time I watch that video!
love you

Hi Jen,
I am so glad I found you! I kept trying to figure out what happened over at HSB, now I know you were deleted! I am so sorry, I know you can’t get into details but I did want to tell you that the Lord has brought you to my mind a lot since you left TOS, and I have been praying because I just felt that there was a very hurtful and painful situation going on, and I am still praying for you and for the Lord to just pour out His grace and touch relationships with His healing hand.
You are such a wonderful person, and have encouraged me and brought me a lot of joy even in very tough times. I would have emailed you personally, but I have lost your email address, so I hope this is ok!
I left you notes over at the Homeschool Lounge trying to find you, but google turned out to be the trick!
OK, long enough!!!! All that to say even though we haven’t met face to face, I just love you, Jen!
Blessings,
Jen

You need a spa day or two, oh what the heck, make it three…I’ll meet you there cuz, girl, I need a bit of pampering myself. I finally said to heck with everyone else’s agenda for me and I pulled out the sewing machine. The girls and I have just been quilting fools. And I love it!!! Well rest up and enjoy your upcoming visit. I’ll think of you while I’m in Portland. Tootles and hugs!

So glad you got the keys out of the car! Isn’t that frustrating?
Hope you feel better soon. We’re having the same thing around here and have determined it allergies. Could that be what’s making you tired?
Enjoy your Dad! How wonderful and fun to have him come and see everyone for the first time!!
I went by HSB to look at your blog, and it’s gone!! I found you by googling, JenIg. So glad I found you again!! What happened to your blog on HSB?!!
Take care, dear friend!! Enjoy your new car when you get it! What a total blessing!!
God bless you ~ Julie

You’re too funny Jen! Of course I’m riding the zipline! Just try and stop me! LOL! By the way I’ve discovered that I can still read all your posts from HSB in my Google reader so if there is any content that you lost I could copy and paste it to an email for you. Just a thougt, I never RSS’s Jess’s blog, but if anyone else did, they too could go back and copy and paste it all for her. I remembered you saying she lost the whole diary of her first year of marriage. Hope this helps!

you’re sweet, Deedee, I was lucky because we have a tech friend who was able to get every bit of my content. I think jess was able to get some stuff off google (apparently they mirror everything on the web for about two weeks), so she was able to recover stuff — but could not get any of the pictures. major bummer.

Jen,
I am so glad to have finally found your blog. I was baffled when I went to my friends’ list and you had disappeared. I checked for Jess’s blog and couldn’t find it either. I was ready to start a “Where in the World is Jen Ig’s Blog” post and decided to google you and found you at last. What happened? Did I miss something?
I’m just glad I can keep up with you again. You are in my favorites.
I hope you get some rest soon!! It’s sounds like you will need it.
Blessings,
Ruth

Just another reminder that I am so extremely beyond sad and disappointed that I won’t get to see you in Ohio.
But in more important news, HOW EXCITING for Geoff and the kids to meet your dad!!! I would be nervous, but excited at the same time. Y’know, my dad found out that his biological dad was alive about 12 years ago. His parents got divorced when my dad was a baby and Grampa Bob’s name was never ever allowed to be mentioned. So we never knew who he was and always assumed he died or something. David and I were the first to ever meet him. It was scary being the first ones to meet him (even before my dad met him!) but SO amazing at the same time. He was so kind and handsome and had this very cool voice– AND he looked like my dad! I was so blown away by it all.
Anyhow, all that to say HOORAY for you!!!
Love,
Marshie

Jen,
I hope you are getting some rest and enjoying your dear husband as much as you can. Maybe all of the white, cottony-stuff got you down in Illinois (there’s still tons of it everywhere!) Hopefully you are feeling better.
Something was BOUND to happen w/the pt cruiser keys, huh???
Also, enjoy and cherish every single moment with your dad! How exciting. Can’t wait to see the pictures and hear all about it!
Love in Christ,
Christine
P.S. There’s updates about Bob Schultz at http://www.iche.org/blog. Please pray.
P.S.S. Did Dippy get Daniel’s message…the boy is dying to talk to him!
