Plums

Ever since I got into a car accident three years ago, my left shoulder revolts against the rest of my body whenever I do the slightest bit of activity. Yesterday, I painted my bathroom. Actually, first I sanded it, all by my own self. And then I painted it (plum) all by my own self. And then, while I was at it, I painted two of my bedroom walls (white) and the day before, Ryann and I painted one of the living room walls.

I am very pleased with myself because I generally appoint one (or several) of my slaves, er, sweet little children to do all the heavy lifting project-y type of things. But I got tired of waiting for *somebody* to finish the bathroom project she started in April, thus, I rolled up my sleeves and had at it. It turned out pretty.

But my shoulder blade feels like it has an ax planted in it. I’ll probably be complaining about it for at least three days, which, no doubt, my family will enjoy. I figure it’s funner to suffer if everyone else is made to suffer along with me.

Second, check this out:

Know what those are? Plums! This will be the first year our plum tree produces anything. I’m mighty excited about that. Our peach trees all are diseased, but the apple tree seems like it’s fine. And Geoff the Great and Coie put a fence around my garden, so hopefully stuff will grow there, now, too. Ahhhh, farm life. I feel successful.

Lastly, Congrats to Jess for two things. First of all, she accomplished the great feat of turning 24 yesterday. And secondly, her softball team FINALLY won a game last night. They have lost every game so far this year. Isn’t that delightfully dorky? And poor Jess is like me. If she doesn’t win, she doesn’t want to play. So she was pretty excited.

Lastly Last… Heart of the Matter is letting me give away FIVE tickets to the upcoming Heart of the Matter online homeschool convention…

Heart of the Matter Online’s quest to bring you the absolute best home school resource online, they have listened to your requests and are providing you with a fun filled online adventure! This conference will be less like a “seminar” and more like a bunch of close friends in a chat room. Just wait till you see what some of your favorite home school personalities have done to educate and entertain you! At the end you will join in to chat with them, ask questions, and they will answer.

To ensure your spot in the conference room and to take advantage of the early bird special. Simply, visit the Heart of the Matter Online Conference site and click the “pay now” button. At $19.95 these prices won’t last long! This $19.95 includes a $30 package from Currclick: curriculum in a click! Currclick (formerly HomeschoolEstore) is the largest one-stop shop for electronic lapbooks, affordable curriculum, and homeschooling resources.

I’ve been given permission to give five of YOU the opportunity to attend this amazing event for FREE. Your ticket includes the $30 package from Currclick!

To enter this give away leave a comment of something you hate running out of (other than toilet paper). For instance, I detest running out of Q-tips. I cannot abide wet ears after a shower.

PS unrelated… please let me know if you have linked to my new blog ( http://jeneralities.com ) so I can make sure to link back to you.   It will take a little bit of time to rebuild my friends list because that was one thing we were unable to transfer over. sigh.

Diapers – it’s never been a good thing to run out of diapers.

Congrats on the plums. I want to see them when they are ready.

High fat content desserts. It is difficult late at night, when my body screams for something unhealthy, not to have it available for me to eat (er – apply directly to my thighs). 🙂

Yes, I have linked to you. You had best be linkin’ back to me, sister. :+)

Yummy looking plums! And I do have a link on the right side of my page to yours. Now, to answer your question….I ran out of this BEFORE we left for our first-ever weekend camping trip in 100 degree weather, and didn’t think I’d need it all that much. Deodorant. Yeah, ask my family and they’ll probably tell you they certainly HATED me running out of that. So gross and sad. I’m supposed to be a “lady.” Am I the only woman who has an additional armpit between her boobs? Is that inappropriate to post? If so, my apologies.

CHOCOLATE!!! I think in this house it would be considered a crime to run out of it! LOL!

I haven’t linked to you because I have no idea how to link to anyone on my friends list who isn’t at HSB. You would be on it if I could figure it out though, does that count?

I love your bathroom. Turns out we ended up both painting something on the same day with the SAME EXACT COLOR. Only difference was WHAT we each painted. Your painted objects consisted of bedroom and bathroom walls, while mine, my toenails. And I actually only sat there while someone else did it for me. That was my birthday present to meee (insert voice of Emperor Kuzco). Well, plus some new sunglasses, and some new jeans, and uh, two new shirts, and, a new hair brush. I had a nice birthday. 😉

also, you’ll have to post some updated pictures of your plums once they actually start to get bigger and, uh, turn plum- like the color of your wall.

I vote for Jaynee’s!!! That is just the most wonderful and cutest!!! We, too, are in that mindset, yet I doubt that at 40 and about to have 7th c-section we will ever top the 11 blessings mark! (Not like it’s a contest or anything) Great response also to those who look in horror at such large families!

Plums are great–both the color and the fruit.

I hate running out of….coffee and french vanilla creamer. Either of those–it’s not good. TP would be a close second. 🙂

And Yes I have linked to you from MY new blog, so feel free to link to me from YOUR new one!

    Hey Jen,

Yep, I am linked to your blog @ http://www.reedsoftn.blogspot.com

I absolutely hate running out of Goo-gone spray because I can only find it at Wal-Mart(which I rarely go to) and I have to have it to get the black grease ring out of my washer after washing Ryan’s work clothes. I sometimes will make a special trip to Wal-Mart and manage to make it home without the Goo-gone spray 😛

And by the way, let me know if your slaves are for hire to paint my completely white house that’s marked up with crayons/pen/marker.

I hate running out of toilet paper. And since you are a creamer kind of gal, have you tried sweetened condensed milk in your coffee? It is SO good! Mmmmm…

Great job in the bathroom! And the plums… yummy! I hope they turn out well. We have lemons and mandarin oranges. 🙂

    Hello my busy little friend!

I officially have you back on my blog where all good friends belong.

Let’s see what do I hate running out of…on a practical side: my favorite decaf passion fruit tea bags to make ice tea and time. I just don’t ever have enough time and I am certain someone or something is stealing my time. On a not so practical side: I very much do not enjoy it when I’ve run out of my pretty, girlie smelling body soaps from Bath and Body. I hit the sale about once a year and get the deals, so I am sad when it is back to the cheap stuff from the grocery store. I know, I am such a queen!

Go easy on the shoulder, you only have two.

    Love you, Jennifer

Thanks for sponsoring the contest! I will try to remember to check my links on my blog. I know I want to have your blog linked to mine. 🙂

Being a true Floridian, I hate to run out of orange juice. Not that I drink it that often, but the three men in my house drink it like they should drink water. It’s not a happy morning when we are out of OJ. (Too bad TP was banned from this comment – I get nervous when we are down to just 4 rolls!)

That bathroom color is beautiful! (Sorry about your shoulder, though.) 🙁

And the plume tree – cool! We had a plum tree in our backyard when I was a kid. (I was so naughty, too. My mom used to tell me no snacks before dinner – So I’d say “Okay”… and then I’d go outside and eat a bunch of plums. 😮

Hmmm…we always seem to run out of guinea pig bedding/litter,(and the kids forget to tell me.) That critter stinks up his cage/the house and then I go to change the cage and there’s no litter. Drat!

    Blessings,
    Michelle

    Hi Mrs. Ig!

    HI ya!:)

I hate to run out of COFFEE! It doesn’t matter if its reg or decaf….. I just love it (usually)!:)

I LIKE your walls…. they are beautiful! You did GOOD!!! The plums on our tree are similar looking to yours, however, I think that all of ours have little worms inhabiting part of them! UGH!!! To share or not to share…. that is the question????

    Love you!
    Angie

P.S. Is this how you link to me as a friend?? I have you in my favorites?? If not, please tell me how!:)

THERE YOU ARE! Glad Coie put a link on her blog to prove you hadn’t dropped off the face of the earth. I like plum…bold, yet soothing.

I have way too many things I hate to run out of, like chocolate, Lavender Earl Gray tea, coffee, diapers (for the baby, not me). One time, all I had left was swimmies. Did you know they don’t hold pee-pee? Well, now I know after an emergency shopping trip during a portrait session.

    Hello Jen,

I’ve linked back to you and I would like to comment that this is the THIRD blog of yours I’ve linked too. I hate dead links too. 😛

I hate hate hate running out of toilet paper, which happened today, but a close second would be ink pens. I never ever have enough and when I don’t need them I find them everywhere. It’s the same with calculators.

Hey, Jen! Love your bathroom. Very pretty. I agree, if I suffer, all must suffer!! LOLOL

I really hate running out of milk and that happens a lot around here since I have two teenage boys in the house!

I tried to link back to you, but HSB won’t let me. Can you tell me how to do this? I have another blog, http://moreofhim-lessofme.blogspot.com/ and I will link up with you there for sure. I usually post the same things on both blogs, so you can visit either one.

Thanks for the fun giveaway. I admit it – I hope I am one of the winners!! :o)

    God bless you ~ Julie

I don’t know how to link to you from HSB. Learning that skill will have to be added to my summer “to do” list. Is it easy and I’m just a goof? (Yeah, yeah, you don’t have to answer that. Just one o’ those *rhysterical* questions.)
Your bathroom is plum, your plums are green and your shoulder is plum worn out. You are SO clever to coordinate that so well. Perhaps you should enlist one of your slav…kiddoes to give you a massage?

So *this* is where you got to! I shall refrain from further comment on that topic. 🙂

I am glad I found you, though. I’ve missed you!

Don’t you just love wordpress? I have a wp blog on my website – I just kind of mirror my posts there and at HSB. So if you want to visit me at my homegrownhearts.com blog, please do! It’s sort of my secret hideout. A secret hideout with a big ol’ link right on the front page going to it. 🙂

You know, I was so surprised that Rosetta Stone wasn’t represented at our (IA) convention a couple weeks ago. I wish you had come to do that one! That’s the first year I remember them not being there. I wonder what was up with that. Hopefully next year you can come do that one, then we could meet in person! 🙂 Well, if you wanted to. I hate to make *assumptions*, but maybe if I promised to bring you some chocolate or something?

Anyway, just wanted to say hey and invite you over to my other place.

For any others on HSB who want to link non-HSB blogs, just go to settings, then links. Enter the title you want to post on your blog and the addres…save it, and it will appear in your links section! 🙂
