Dippy’s First Business Venture
My son, Dippy, is now an author. Here he is with his first book:
The Shouting Dad, Book I, by Dippy Igarashi
Dad shouted, “TOM! Clean up the rug!”
Mom said, “Tom, you don’t have to clean the rug. You get candy.”
Mom said, “Dad, go bend over the bed.”
“WHY DO I HAVE TO BEND OVER THE BED IF I’M THE DAD!?!”
Mom said, “Because you told Tom to clean the rug!”
“Since you won’t bend over, you have to go to the AIR FORCE”, said Mom, “and you have to give Tom ALL your money and candy”
Dad says, “Tom, stop messing with my real army bomb helicopter!”
Mom says, “Tom you can play in there and fly the bomb helicopter if you want.”
Mom says to Dad, “Now you have to go to the Air Force AND Marines!”
Dad says, “Tom! Don’t drop those bombs!” … BANG!!!!!
And then the Dad died, so Mom and Tom had to clean the rug.
The End
I don’t know if Mom and Tom had to clean dad ‘off’ of the rug. He didn’t elaborate.
I told Dippy that I would put his book up “for sale” on my website and he will be paid one quarter for anybody who comes and reads it and then say they like it. Ok, so maybe it’s not exactly the most accurate way to introduce him to Economics and Capitalism but 1) He is really set on selling it and 2) I thoroughly enjoyed the book. You shoulda seen the pictures he drew for each page.
I just hope this book is not later sold as an auto biography.
In other news, Jess and Charley finally got around to posting their personal thoughts on Sarah Palin. It is interesting to read their perspective since they they’ve (sorta) known her and, as Alaskans, have been personally affected by her policies.

Thanks for the comment. and no doubt. I’d be down with that- party at the white house- whoop whoop. Maybe Sarah could send someone to get us in a private jet (since she sold *hers* on ebay)
love you- and love Dip’s book too. I bid $5.
on September 4th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
No Jess, you can’t bid FIVE BUCKS. You’re just sposed to say, “I like it” and then *I* pay him a quarter. I’m hoping he makes at least two bucks. If he ‘makes’ more than that then I’m going to need you to loan me some cash.
: P
I’m off to tell Dip that he just got his first customer..

But the Bombs are cool! 🙂 🙂 🙂

My daughter and I both read the book and LOVED it! I think he has a future as an author :o)
My youngest daughter recently wrote a 4 book series that has kept us in stitches. In every one, the main character Kim falls off her bike on the way to various destinations followed by our favorite line “Uh oh. Kim has blud.” OK so we need a little more work on spelling but the illustrations are hysterical. Dontcha just love homeschooling?
Blessings,
Courtney

I love the book and it’s a accurate repesentation of how kids dream up crazy ideas. Jenn, it makes me wonder if there is a direct relation between the book and reality :/ hmmm? When I was little we called my mom’s parent’s Grandma Bell and Grandpa Cheyeny. I always thought they weren’t married and shacking up together. Turns out Bell was my grandma’s middle name/nickname and Cheyney was my grandparent’s last name, they were married after all. Kids have interesting thoughts!

I LOVE the book!
Really, I’d say he has the talent of Beverly Cleary and John Erickson. He knows how to write the way a kid (or Hank!) thinks! 🙂
Way to go Dippy!

Tell Dippy he did a great job.
I enjoyed reading it!!
I will need to stop by Jess’s blog and leave her a comment.
I hope you are having a splendid week!

Loved the book, Dippy! Here is my review…Sounds like Dad needs to stop yelling so much. Tom needs to learn to obey his Dad when he is told to do something, and Mom needs to be more agreeable with Dad. I mean after all, all that arguing just because no one wanted to clean the rug! Heavens to Betsy!
Jen, what an excellent idea for teaching entraprenuership (Spelling?)! May I borrow your idea?
on September 5th, 2008 at 7:41 am
LOVED the book! Will he be writing a sequel?
on September 5th, 2008 at 9:06 am
I liked it! You can add another quarter to the royalty fund :).
on September 5th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Very cute. Mildly disturbing, but that’s what boys do! My 13 y o’s first question about a new book or movie suggested to him is, “Are there any gun fights or explosions?” Can’t wait to try to get him to read Emma or other girly classics. Maybe Brit Lit won’t be his favorite 🙂
Drop a quarter in the far from me!
P.S. I am just a few pages short of the end of The Woman in White. Slow in the beginning, but now I can’t put it down!

Um, that’s JAR, not Far. Tropical weather is rattling my brain.

Caleb liked the book. He smiled to.. I think that calls for two more quarters!
on September 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I liked Dippy’s book…a little morbid…
on September 5th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Way to go Dippy!
Another quarter for you!
on September 5th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Most entertaining- the intensity kept building till the end, with a very dramatic ending. And justice was served, Mom and Tom had to clean the rug after all. I predict this book will have a huge, enthusiastic audience with young men ages 8-12. Especially with the pictures included!
We want a sequel!!

You can give him a quarter for me, but as I deal in Canadian currency that will work out to somewhere around 26 cents USD.
on September 5th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Great story. I love kids stories. My baby wrote one yesterday. This reminds me that i need to take pictures of it and post it.

What a fun story. I love the book.
You know they say to write what you know, so I was just wondering…… : )

Looks like you are going to need a loan to pay the boy off. He can then save it for carpet cleaner 🙂

Give that boy a quarter from me. I howled!
on September 10th, 2008 at 7:09 am
I hope it’s not too late for Dip to get his quarter, ’cause I loved it!
on September 17th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Give the boy another quarter. Although, you might want to consider burning the book. If he ever gets in trouble with the law, that book could be disastrous in the hands of an over-zealous prosecutor.
I think I know where he gets his unique writing ability from though!
