Hum de Dum de Dum
I simply hate being bored. Boredom leads to all sorts of trouble. What’s that one saying? “Idle hands are the devil’s tools…” or something or other. Somewhere in time somebody said something like that, so there, that proves it. Bored = bad
Ok, so this last week has been pretty boring. I think my summer of successive stopovers has spoilt me into expecting a constant stream of entertainment and non-boring distractions. Seriously, starting in March, Coie and I traveled to five different states (over five weekends), and in between we had Jess and Charley, my dad, my son Aaron (!), the Calhouns, the Thompson sisters, and the Carrs stay at our home. I don’t think we’ve ever had such an eventful summer. 08 still does not register as being “started”… and here we are nearly at the end of it!
What’s my point? I have no idea. I’m just bored this week, that’s all. And I miss my sister.
In other news, Coie and all the kids pooled their money and bought an Arm Breaker, i.e. a trampoline. Dippy busted his elbow on one when he was four or five. Then he busted his other elbow falling out of a tree. I don’t think I should let that kid play outside.
But school is going well this year. I’ve noticed I’m a better teacher when there are not a lot of activities to get whirled into. When things threaten to get boring, my kids tend to learn more.
Here’s a link to a post that I really enjoyed earlier this week.

Oh my goodness, I saw Jessica’s latest post! Now there’s a girl who’s definitely NOT bored!!
With all the busyness of your life, I think you’re just coming down to “normal” …
Hugs ~

I am with you on the outside activities thing. They tend to creep up on us, but I am trying hard not to get overloaded this year!
have fun with your ‘boredom’. 🙂

I want an arm breaker, but husband is wanting to ban them. I’ll wait and see how Dippy fares this month. 🙂

oh, and gee thanks for the link. 🙂 I should learn not to argue, as it usually doesn’t help. In fact, it just makes people mad. poor Angel. I’m not sure she’ll love you linking to her, ya better ask. haha.

nononononono. How come we can’t just figure this out? It was the SAME elbow. All five pins are in his left-I think…hmmm…okay, I’m gonna go call the hospital. Which one was it? Um, Roseville? Folsom?

Em… i could not BELIEVE some of the comments poor Angel got! it was a bummer, too, because i think all the nonsense comments she started getting interfered with her whole point, which was the church’s role in helping widows and orphans, etc. I almost wanted to add a disclaimer telling people to read her post but ignore the comments!

I think we’re the opposite. We have to stay busy or my kids get too comfortable and then start slipping academically. I don’t think we know how to be bored really…but I look forward to it someday. =)

Angel’s post was a fantastic one! And the comments…whew!! I haven’t seen a debate like that in quite awhile.

Hiya! Sorry about the boredom, can’t help much this year, but how about I start off 2009 with a flying visit from your favourite UK blogger? LOL! :o) We are still planning a visit somewhere around New Year. Unfortunately we are still trying to sort out the plans for that road trip which keep changing. Including what car we can use for it, since Grandpa had said we could use his and now that he is gone we dont’ know what is happening to the car situation! But we are determined to find a way to get down to you guys!! And my boys will be thrilled to find a trampoline there if it isn’t completely iced over by then.

Well I pray I can write a post on my blog to complement her blog (angel) and add to it. I went ahead and left her a post about what I thought in a nutshell.
Thank you for sharing these things, they pull at my soul!

Reason number 24 that I hate running out of babies- I am NEVER bored!!! You should REALLY come visit us sometime!
We have an arm breaker around here. It’s got that saftey net thingy so it’s been good so far. But the net is starting to rip and fall off, so I’m not sure how long that will work. The funny thing is that the net has only 1 small opening in it so you can get on and off the trampoline. You can zip it closed, but our zipper broke forever ago. Anyways, the other day Abigail came in crying with a bump on her head…Timothy was following to see if she was okay. I asked what happened and Timothy said, “We were bouncing together and Abigail just bounced right out the door :)” That’s our Abigail! She takes after her mother!

psh. bring it.
also, why aren’t you answering your phone? You think YOUR bored? I’m the sick one, home alone with nothing better to do than watch Fox news cover the same dang issues over and over and over. Yah, no deal in Washington. got it. next please?

JESS: ok, first of all, you’re dead. just so you know… be prepared. i will have no mercy on you. tears, convulsions, pleading… none of it will have the slightest effect on me as I zip past you (demolishing you with red shells). I know all the tricks. And I always make the short cut ramp in the tropical island land. Plus, i know the secret way to go super super fast on the corners.
And I claim Peach. You can be Bowser.
ps i’m not answering the phone because I’m online. PLUS i STILL have the same headache that i’ve had for FOUR weeks. will you come over and bring me some soup? or some salsa?

PS to Bildad the Shuhite…
You are *so* not a Bildad (and I’m no Job). You should change your name to Joab. No, he was an idiot — killing Abner was a bad move. Um… ok, not Nabal… uh, I’m trying to think of somebody brilliant, really handy and who makes a lot of neat-o inventions. Archimedes! I officially hereby dub thee, ARCHIMEDES.

too bad for you I TOO know the way to go super fast around corners, and I TOO never miss the short cut ramp in the tropical island land. PLUS i know OTHER shortcuts that only GEOFF knew about. and there’s no WAY get to be peach. I’M peach. You got to lord that over me when I was a kid, but now she’s up for grabs. and I’m quick. be afraid. be very afraid.
on September 26th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
i sort of am afraid.
