Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

Ok everypeoples.  It’s OK.  Think long term.  We are now in a perfectly excellent position for a Purely Conservative (Palin?) Presidential blow out in 2012.  It will be exactly like the Reagan Landslide that came as a result of the Carter Catastrophe.  No worries.  Not to mention the obvious:  Romans 8:28  Just tighten up your belts for the next few years… it’ll all be right as rain soon enough – one way or another.

In other news, my sister is SO lucky.  First of all she gets to go to California.  I haven’t been back to Cali since we’ve moved to TN.  But not only did she get to go to CA and see all of our old friends, she also got to meet Jaynee who just so happened to coincidentally be visiting Redding CA (from Mexico!) on the same days that Charley and Jess were there.  I was so jealous!!!

Just look at all those yellow-locked Lockwoods.  Have you ever seen such a cute assembly of blonde headed pumpkin muffins in one setting?  My goodness!  And Jess said that she’d never met so many happy smiley grinny-faced children in all her life.  She told me that even the baby grinned the entire time.  I really do believe that happy, grateful, grinny kids directly reflect how they’re parented.

In other-ly news — and this is just sad – HERE you have a lovely ensemble of charming, pleasant, clean, cheery, affable, normal looking family specimens… then you scroll down to the bottom and see the reason why Southerners are stuck with the reputation they have.  Sad.  Very Sad.

Tomorrow night we are off to IL and MI.  Whoooo hooooooO!  And did you notice how gas prices plummeted?  That was an awfully nice thing to have happen.  Talk about perfect timing.

That is what I told one of my children who was very concerned about this election. I told her about living through the Carter years, and how this country swings back and forth.
Those pictures are funny – and reminded me of years ago when we were homeschooling. There were homeschool magazines telling us what the perfect homeschool family looked like, where the 10 musical prodigy children would all be posed with their cellos and home-made matching outfits. Then there was our motley homeschooling group. I could not sew a button, much less matching outfits. We didn’t have a musical group, no one went to college at 10. We didn’t get up at 4 AM to have devotions with father before work. I guess we were homeschool status quo failures. But we were happy and had fun and can relate to your picture most of all.

Yeah, I agree with your political view. Barbara over at MommyLife wrote a nice post, too. Don’t know how to link it here in the comment, but maybe some folks will read it.

Your “sad” picture made me grin…

Jen, Thank you for your post..especially the title, it really put things in perspective for me this morning. And have a GREAT time at the barn diggity. Please post LOTS of pictures and good luck with the Virginia Reel Smack Down! By the way, *I love* your family portrait! Nothing wrong with it at all!

    Jen,
Did you guys pose for that picture, or is this one of those campaign tricks by the Bluedorns to discredit you before the dance off by making you APPEAR to the general public to be southern hicks who can’t even do a family line up, let alone the Virginia Reel?

oh man, julie, now i’m even more depressed.

And does this mean that a case can be made that Geoff Igarashi’s family is “disorderly”?

….I’m beginning to see my dreams of wearing that Virginia Reel Tiara flitter away in the wind

I think that the man sitting down there in the front of the picture is the most handsome, wonderful, strong man I’ve ever seen 😉

ok so personally, I love that random ‘everyone is everywhere’ ig family photo. it has waaaaaay more character than any of the rest, and lends itself to the portrayal of each family member’s personality…’cept for maybe james. he ought to be hanging from a tree in the background with a tomahawk. and I KNOW! aren’t I the luckiest girl to have gotten to meet the amazing and beautiful lockwood fam?? I can’t wait to blog about it when I get home!

What a sweet way to try and calm everyone! When I went to make my post on my blog, I read yours first and after some prayer realized that my words (probably not needed ones-) would not help…So I made my post about Him and our need to focus on Him. That will get us through the years ahead.

    Enjoy your trip,
    Faith

Also, I’m totally with you on the election thing.
