…Wasn’t Really Expecting This

EDIT UPDATE:  Just got back from the hospital.  Good news, the mass  does not look cancerous (at all) says the doctor.  He thinks it may have stemmed from an infection; so they’re sending it off to the lab. But the short story is that all looks really well.  Thanks SO much for praying.  What a great relief.  Coie has more updated info posted on her page

Well this is odd after my last silly post – and I debated whether or not to mention it at all but here it goes:

Yesterday afternoon I took my oldest son, Bo, into the Dr. to have a lump in his leg checked out. The dr. did not like the looks (or feel) of it at all. So he called in another dr who also didn’t like the look of it and they scheduled me to see a specialist right away.

So I took my son in this morning and the specialist said that usually they would start by giving antibiotics and watching the lump, but that instead he would rather get the tumor out sooner than later and send it off to a lab for testing.

I’m taking Bo in this Friday morning at six. He’ll be put completely out while they take the mass out and then they said it will take a week or so to confirm whether or not it’s cancer.

I figured you guys would pray for us, and we’d all really appreciate that. I’ll try and give an update soon as I can.

  1. God is so Big Jen…I just know that He’s got this super, awesome lesson to teach you and you’re going to smile and laugh and cry when He shows you what it is.

  2. Praying!! I had MRSA on my leg a couple years ago. It was a lump thing on the outside of my calf. Anyway, I had to have it removed. The shot to numb me hurt WAY bad though.

  3. Please tell my former dance partner, and fine young gentleman… that we are all praying for him and send our love to all of you!

  4. We know the Lord isn’t at all surprised by this; I pray for you every day Jen…and I will be praying especially about this as I know the fear and uncertainty a mommy or daddy goes through when their little one is being tested for cancer.
I love you and am praying!

  5. Jen, prayers for miraculous healing and supernatural peace are on their way! And here is my (current) favorite scripture:
“About Benjamin (nickname- Bo:) he said:
Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him,
for he shields him all day long,
and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.” ~Deut. 33:12

Isaiah 30:15 is also helpful to me in times of turmoil:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength.”

    With warm, hard, Ohio hugs,

  6. I’m glad they are taking care of it right away. You know we’ll be praying here, for all of you. Sending lots of love your way!

  7. Jen,
I’m praying for you and for your whole family. May you feel God’s loving arms of peace, strength and comfort wrapped tightly around you at this time of uncertainty.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I WILL strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

    Love and prayers,

  8. Praying for you in East TN. A verse that comes to mind is Jer. 29:11. I hang on to that verse when my oldest, who is a type 1 diabetic, is having a crazy diabetic day!! We are only 20 miles outside of Knoxville if you ever need us. We are praying for you.

  10. Jen,

I will be praying for Bo, all the medical professionals involved in this, and for PEACE FOR YOU! I live up here in PA, but from reading your blog, I know that you are a great person and an awesome mom. Remember–God is bigger than this!

  11. Praise the Lord for the good report and I will continue to pray for Bo’s recovery and that the results of the biopsy will be as good as expected.
You’ve been on my heart all week and I thank you for the update! I’m so happy it looked good…well, good in the figurative sense…I saw Coie’s picture of the thing and it looked pretty yucky. 🙂
    love and prayers,

  12. WOOHOO!!! Praise the Lord from Whom ALL blessings flow! SO GLAD w/the good report.

Two more things: 1) You need to stop over at my blog and see all the stinkin’ snow we got, and 2) Do you think it would be worth it for me to open a face book?

    Fledder from Ohio…

  13. PRAISE the LORD!!!
Oh Jen, I am so relieved, (as I’m sure you are!)
How scary that must have been for you – but I’m so glad that he’s okay! Give him a hug!
