Und Zee Vinners Ahr….

Before I tell you who the winners are, I
have to let you know that I myself doth not yet knoweth who thine
art.  I made my weird kid Coie
do all the pickin' and choosin' on account of me being so lazy and
such. And if you think I'm mean for calling my kid weird, just go read
her last blog entry and you'll be forced to heartily agree with me. And
like I said, she chose the winners so send all hate mail her way if you
are unhappy with her choices.  So now, here I go, I am gonna copy
and paste the email she sent me with the list of winners (drum roll
please….)

The following two bloggers have won a free one year subscription:

The following three bloggers have won a Learning Calendar
and I'm including the history tidbits from the Learning Calendars that
is recorded on your birthdays (along with some babbling comentary)….

Dina2025
January 20- After 444 days in captivity, 52 American hostages were released on
this day in 1981.  The hostage crisis
began when Iranians seized the
US
embassy in Teheran, angry that the US
had allowed the ousted shah of
Iran
to come to
New York
for medical treatment.

homekeeper4him
January 30th– On this day in 1948, a Hindu terrorist assassinated
Mohandas Gandhi as he made his way through a crowd to lead a prayer
session.  Known as Mahatma, or “the great
soul,” Gandhi peacefully led
India’s
independence movement against
Britain.

HappyApple
February 26- Same as Red Head Ryann- The treaty ending WWI forbade Germany
from any military air force.  In complete
defiance of that order, Adolf Hitler signed a secret decree establishing the
“Luftwaffe,” a German military air fleet.

hippiechyck
March 29- Mariner 10 became the only man-made spacecraft to visit the planet
Mercury on this day in 1974.  The
temperature on Mercury ranges from 800 degrees F when facing toward the sun to
-279 degrees F when facing away.  How
long does it take Mercury to orbit the sun?
88
Days
.

MaryBeth
May 29- Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit of Mt. Everest
on this day in 1953, becoming the first to conquer the tallest mountain in the
world.  Located  in
Nepal,
the 29,035 ft giant is part of the
Himalayan
Mountains
.

quietcajun
October 21- On this day in 1520, Ferdinand Magellan sailed from the Atlantic Ocean into what would later become known as the
Straits of Magellan.  It would take him
38 days to pass through 360 miles of icy water before reaching the calm
Pacific Ocean
Magellan was also the name of Coie’s imaginary friend
when she was 5.

cudltotDecember
3- The first human-to-human heart transplant surgery was on this day in 1967 in
Cape Town, South Africa.  The 53-year-old man dying from heart disease
lived for 18 days after receiving the new heart.  Today, about 83 percent of heart transplant
patients live at least 1 year.

Tah Dah!
(to be read in a
sing songy voice). It seems that Coie never learned how to count, so
apparently we'll be sending off more things than orignially stated.

If you won something, then you must email me within the next ten
minutes to claim your prize.  Just kidding.  But you do have
to email me so I know where to send your loot:

    LOL at Coie’s stalker 🙂

Yeah, homeschooled kids ARE odd – let’s just be honest.

My SIX-year-old tied a string around a truck she built from wood and painted and now drags it around behind her. It’s name is Federal AND Sam, and it is not-a-truck-but-a-dog. It has a bed to sleep in and everything. She is trying to convince us she is ready to care for a puppy.

If she’s willing to drag a TRUCK around, maybe she’d be willing to drag around one of Gena’s piggy puppies after all…

Notice I did NOT put THIS on MY blog…just the sweet story about how she’s going to be a missionary… Nice thing about blogging – you just blog the stuff you’re willing to have other people read.

I'd Like to Lodge A Complaint

Obviously, Funk and Wagnals or Deloitt Touche were not the auditors for this "contest", because no one with a June birthdate was selected. Everyone knows June is the all important Goat Trauma Awareness Month.

    http://www.goat-trauma.org/news/awareness.shtml

Of course, January 27, 1961 was the first Goat Trauma Awareness Day, but they moved it to June when too many goats were traumatized by having to part take in celebrations in the freezing temperatures of winter.

    Wow! I won!

My children will LOVE the history calendar, but I’ll bet that calendar DOES NOT have the really important info… like that part about Coie’s imaginary friend, Magellan… and her new imaginary stalker! LOL!

I needed a winning feeling today!

    WHAT??!!

In keeping with my whiny ways… I must protest and point out the FACT that my birthday is also the ever famous JANUARY 20th… now, I understand if you just don’t want people to know how much you truly are fond of me, therefore letting me win all the cool stuff… (ie. Car Magnet) but in keeping with “fairness” I think only of your best bloggin’ contest fairing interest when I say there will be those (I’m sure) who will think you do love me more than them (however truthful that may be) therefore intentionally not picking me so as to avoid any confrontations… either way (or all ways… whichever the case might be)… I REEEEEEEEEALY think that I should have won something… and I’m sure you’ll think of something to rectify this “situation”, or I might have to share the story about the time you… oh wait… that was another post…

    Love ya,

Nutpickle… which, by the way… “nutpickle” seeds need to be planted indoors in the spring… sheesh… where do you get your information?… I will be praying for you (and the other homesteaders who will have to put up with your uber lack of knowledge in the agricultural realm). However, I will send you some seeds, if you promise not loose them before then… otherwise you’re just going to have to wait.
