I got my TOS!!!! Loved it as usual, but haven’t had much reading time this week. I’ll get to read more of it tomorrow when the kidlets are in co-op. whoohoo!
Hope you close on the house as scheduled — what a pain buying a house is.
Hmmmmmm my favorite song….. I have a split music personality so I’ll have to give two:
Give (I think thats the name of it anyways) by Third Day and Wish you Were Here by Pink Floyd (ducking tomatoes!)
JennMarie = )

I gotta get my hands on a copy!
I don’t get a subscription to TOS anymore, so I’ll have to see if some one in our Homeschooling PE Co-op has a copy I can borrow.
As for my favorite song:
The one the kids have been singing for grace at mealtimes lately that I now sing all the time is “Oh, How I Love Jesus”! The last line is always my favorite, “…because He first loved me.”
I do know what it’s like to close on a house…it can be a pain! On the other hand, the last time I was closing on a house, we were selling our dream home and moving into a rental half its size….so I guess, I’d rather have your frustration right now. Interesting how that works…..
This, too, shall pass, my friend.
God’s blessings on you and your new house!

Danny Boy is one of my fav songs. The words are positively haunting and lovely.
My mom sings it quite a bit (she used to be a professional singer on the radio in Korea– back in the day).

I’m not sure of the title but right now I like, because it’s stuck in my head and I cannot get it out, for about 3 months now is…
Jesus, lover of my soul, Jesus I will never let you go, you’ve taken me from the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and now I know, I love you, I need you, though my world may fall I’ll never let you go……
Is it stuck in your head yet?
Susan
PS- I don’t have my magazine yet because I just signed up for a subscription and I won’t get it until the second mailing-please make it quick-because I never got a free subscription so a calander would be really neat.

Awesome God!!!
I LOVE that song, I never get tired of it.
I got mine today too, I also got twin lambs, they were born today! Come by and see them. If the goats have kids I’ll take pics of them too.

What’s today????? I don’t know! See, I really need to win this calander.

without a doubt
The best learning song I know is “Fifty Nifty (United States)”
http://www.teridanielsbooks.com/fiftyniftysong.htm
I learned it in like 5th grade or something (maybe earlier?) and i’m in my mid 30’s now and STILL find myself referring to it, singing it, humming it, etc. Mostly I just use the “states list” of it nowadays, to rattle off the states.
It is catchy, easy to learn, useful to know, and will stick with you for a lifetime!

hoping the closing is smooth as proverbial ice!

Do I have to pick just ONE?
Okay, um, Amazing Grace. No matter what other songs come along, that one remains a tear-jerker for me!

favorite song…
I got a new cd for Christmas from my brother and sil
called Joy Williams : Genesis
My favorite song is all of them but if I had to pick I would say :Beautiful Redemption….
The words are as following…from http://www.lyricsandsongs.com/song/61815.html
I've had my forty days and forty nights at sea
I've had forty years in the wilderness, or so to speak
I've walked with sand from the ocean floor on my feet
To turn and say you left me
I'm a doubting Thomas in needing to believe
I'm a perfumed sinner just like Magdalene
I'm Judas kissing on your cheek eager to decieve
I am all of these
Chorus
I cry, Father, Father, forgive me
You say, Child, I already have
You are beautiful
Beautiful Redemption
You are Beautiful
Beautiful Redemption
I'm the guilty thief that's hanging by your side
and my shame is dying with your sacrifice
And all my fears come crashing down as I look in your eyes
I see paradise
Hallelujah (we all, we all, we all fall down)
Hallelujah (we all, we all, we all fall down)
Hallelujah (we all, we all, we all fall down)
Hallelujah (we all, we all, we all fall down)
You are beautiful
Beautiful Redemption
You are Beautiful
Beautiful Redemption
But I HIGHLY Recommend the entire cd to everyone.

We got ours. I read your article, but all I remember is you writing about some bratty kid, what a little brat you were, and some brilliant Biblical punchline which escapes me at the moment. Nice to see your hubby, I’ll be sure to send him my hate mail!
Is it any favorite song or my favorite learning song? If it’s a learning song, it’d have to Conjunction Junction, hands down. I was about 12 when that came out, but most of you HSB kids weren’t even born! And for a really geeky learning song, it would have to be Tom Lehrer’s “The Elements.”
Other favorite songs of mine from over the years (depending on where I was at in life a the time):
“Aquarius” by the Fifth Dimension
“Close to You” by the Carpenters
“Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin
“Welcome to the Machine” by Pink Floyd
“Broken Promises” by the Resurrection Band
“Enough is Enough” by Whitecross
“Write my Life” by Out of the Grey
“Lord I Lift Your Name on High” (Petra version)
“I Like the Bible” by the Donut Man
That just about covers my last 35 years of favorite music! Still another good question from Mrs. Ig.

my favorite
is When You Say Nothing At All, by Alison Krauss.
I love anything she sings ๐

Favorite songs…
Probably one from a MUSICAL, preferably if it was sung on LITTLE HOUSE (just kidding!!). praying all goes well with the closing…

My favorite song!
Gosh, I don’t even know. Right now probably Brahm’s Lullaby because I want to go take a nap. Otherwise, I don’t know that I have one favorite — it certainly depends on my mood. Am I kicked out of the contest for not having one favorite? Because if that’s the case then I’ll just say, “Waterloo” by ABBA. Don’t ask me why that popped into my head. I think that has something to do with my lack of sleep. Great, I have a feeling it’s going to be stuck in my head for a while. Well, better that than “Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glen Campbell. Is that before your time, Jen?

favorite hymn is…
I’ll Thank Him, I’ll Praise Him. It’s an old, old hymn that no one sings anymore. I have many favorite songs. My new favorite song is called “Get Down” by Audio Adrenaline. My son got one of their CD’s for Christmas and if you’re ever having a bad day, that song will get you smiling.

I really enjoy “El Shaddai” – A Worship song that Amy Grant sings.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age youโre still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
El shaddai.
Through your love and through the ram,
You saved the son of Abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
And by your might,
You set your children free.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age youโre still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
El shaddai.
But I already have a one of those, (THANK YOU AGAIN!) so pass it along to someone that is not insane and uses a dishwasher. fhasdhfasdkfshfas

New TOS mag is great, as usual!
I pray your closing goes great tomorrow! It is such a joy to buy your own home! You can paint the walls any color you want.. polka dot wallpaper if you want… enjoy owning your new home!
Question – How many ‘earworms’ have you gotten since reading all those song comments??
An Earworm is a song that gets stuck in your head, especially annoying ones.
I didn’t dare read any of your comments… I don’t want another earworm today! My hubby and I have an ‘earworm’ game we play… we try to give each other ‘earworms’.

Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I'd have to say, "American Music," by the Violent Femmes. I probably should go to confession or something and have this sin purged from me, but how can you not like a song with lyrics like these:
did you do too many drugs
I did too many drugs
did you do too many drugs too baby
and
but every time I look at that ugly lake
it reminds me of me
you can see all the great lyrics here, but it really is much better performed than read. I can almost sing as well as he can, but I'd never sell an album. Conservative Christian just does not mix well with the drug scene, I guess.

I know you don't like musicals…
but once again, you haven’t been to Les Miserables. My favorite song from that musical is “Bring Him Home” ~ enough to give me goosebumps and reduce me to tears. You must listen to that song! For a long time recently, my favorite song was “Fields of Gold” written by Sting, but sung by Eva Cassidy. Even more recently, I loved the songs “The Scarlet Tide” and “You Will Be My Ain True Love” sung by Allison Kraus (from the movie Cold Mountain, which I will not watch.) I also have obsessively listened to the duet by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli “Time to Say Goodbye”. I even videotaped my daughter doing some hilarious lip-synching to that song. …I also know that you only asked for ONE favorite song, but really it is too difficult to choose.
