Jeneric Jeneralities ~ by JenIG

Gena is good for something.  She has fast internet and her bed is nice and cushy and cozy.  I would sit on her pillow for the fun of watching her start shrieking like a banshee…except for this is the only place I can get internet right now, so I'll just stay down here at the end of the bed until it's time for me to leave. Then I'll sit on it.  And run real fast.

Anyways, our winner for the book, Homeschooling Methods (which you can buy if you want by clicking this here link) is JeffreysGirl .  I picked her for two reasons…. first of all, I'm also a Geoffrey's Girl (even tho the spelling is wrong) and secondly, I really liked her last post.  It was funny.  Email me at and give me your addy and I will mail you your prize Miss JeffreysGirl.

Now, back to Gena , I've decided to call down my powers of Little Sisterdom and claim my right to steal whatever I want from her.  Since we had SO many entries from the last contest, I figured it was only right we give away at least one more copy of the book.  So I am going to personally steal a copy from Gena's bookshelf and send it to one of you.  She deserves that since she used to steal all my stuff and sell it when we were little.

By leaving a comment you are automatically entered.  You will get extra points if you also leave a comment on gena's page thanking her for her generosity.

Keep your south end away from my pillow. Bad enough you’re in here steaming up my bedroom. Go home. If I let you steal another book, will you go home?

    I'm in!

Another contest to lose, but what the heck. What if I changed my user name to ILoveGoats, would I win then?

If you get a chance after you get settled, take my quiz. You can link there from the contest that is now over. It’s fun, plus you need to do something fun after all that hard work. I can’t wait to read your blogs about livin’ on your soon to be homestead:)

    God Bless,

    Now I’m off to Gena’s!

Have you read The Borrowers? We are reading that now. They “borrow” from humans because that’s what humans are for, according to them. Well, I guess the same thing applies to big sisters. Although, I don’t really know cuz I never had one.

I hope you get settled in real soon. I hate being unsettled. And I’ve got another 4 months or so of it.

    Me again..

It’s me, trying again…. hoping to win. LOL. I’ve won VERY VERY few things in my life (a fire extinguisher for having the 2nd closest guess to the correct # of soy beans in a giant jar was my first contest ever won.) I’d almost given up trying to win things, then I saw the last giveaway. I lost. Maybe I was suppose to enter this one instead and was just early in commenting. LOLOLOL

    First Day!

This is my first day blogging (I guess that is what you call it) after reading the article in the Old School House magazine. Great article by the way. And no I am not trying to win brownie point's to get the book lol. I also read your article Jen and it was a good kick in butt just what I needed. Thanks, Rebekah Anne

I’ll enter this here contest with the knowledge that my Father in heaven is so rich and able to give me anything. So if I win, I will thank Him and if I don’t I will rejoice with the winner knowing the Lord knew who needs it the most. I will say (and I’m not brown-nosing) that I love cruising this blogland!

That said, “PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME!!!!”

Am I still automatically entered if I leave a comment siding with Gena? See, I’m an eldest, and know that twerpy little sisters steal stuff, blame the eldest, and cry to get the older one in trouble. HA! See, I’m on to you younger sisters and your tricks. Bwaaaahaa haa!

    Hey, great!

    I’ll try again 🙂

This book sounds really good! Can I bribe you with pictures of Ben Roethlisberger when he was in high school that I just posted on my blog? That could backfire though, if you were a Seahawks fan, so maybe not a good idea….

I’ll run on over and tell your sister thank you for her give-aways~!

Ok, I am laughing so hard right now! You are so right about the baby crack! And maybe I shouldn’t respond, but it is the only butt around here getting kissed!

    Gotta love those baby bums.

So are you really gonna sit on her pillow?

  13. homekeeper4him said,

    I have an idea!

You know what would be really funny is if you could sit in some ink or paint and then go sit on her pillow! Leave her a nice “south end” print to remind her of you. 🙂

BTW, thanks for visiting my blog!

But I always wanted a little sister!

Since I don’t know anything about odds in betting, would winning a book now negate the possibility of my winning the HGTV Dream Home? If so, keep it!

Of course, a dear friend of mine let me know she has named, claimed and professed profusely that the home is hers…so maybe my faith needs some stretching!

We missed 2 hurricanes, so that’s gotta be good odds, hunh?

    I Live in Michigan

All I have to say is, I am SO happy for you that you get to live in a nice, not too hot not too cold, funky place like Tennesee. Yes…I am freezing my bejonkyas off in the flat and frozen tundra of MICHIGAN living your worst nightmare. This could be you!!! You could be trying to pretend you have a homestead by over compensating with cats, guines pigs, bug collections, and herbs growing in clay pots that crack in Michigan winters. But a free book can change everything. It could be that glimmer of hope that Spring will come again!!!!!

Contest aside ~ thanks for visiting my blog Jen! Aren’t you glad you didn’t have to travel to my house?

    Funny Posts

If you like to read funny posts… you could read my post about Mt. Everest… aka Mt. Never-Rest… I thought it was funny and it is always scary when a person laughs at their own jokes… so it is very important that they enlist others to laugh at their jokes so they will not seem so odd!

I am kind of attached to my broken calendar btw… even though it is dumbing-down my children!

Okay, I have to side with Jen here….

Sorry, Gena, but I was the YOUNGEST of three girls. I know exactly how she feels here. Like we’re cut from the same cloth. Just ask MY sisters! ha

Oh, and Jen, we live about 20 miles apart as the crow flies….but taking into account that French Broad, it would be about 45 miles to drive there. But hey, what’s an hour of driving between friends?

    I had TWO controlling sisters

and had to SHARE a bedroom with one of them. I used to generously salt her sheets… vaselined the toilet seat (heard something go bump in the night!), put weird things in the closet to spook her at night…. etc, etc. Jen, I feel your pain!

Hey, my husband is taking a class called…

Learning and Cognition and he needs some sane stuff to balance out what he is getting there! How is that for a reason to need the book? One thing we are learning is that just because a university says “Christ-centered and Spirit-led” does not mean they really are. They get taught a lot of worldly philosophy. Anyway, it would be great to have the seasoned experience and advice of some home educators in this area.

Anyway, you all are a riot!

    Love and shalom,

Comment number two for the sake of a good book. Though in my last comment I said I would do anything for it, I hesitated when it involved stealing. But then I saw Gena was the first comment and thought-ALRIGHT! (Never mind I was ALREADY in your post a comment section….)

BTW-No, I am not married to a Jeffrey or a Geoffrey BUT I AM expecting. What if I name a son (if we have a son) Geoffrey? Would that do the trick?!?! 😉 Rebecca (

Well, let’s see, why should I win the book? I never had a sister. I believe strongly in homeschool being an ex-teacher. I don’t have money to buy the book since I am living with my children and helping them homeschool right now. I am helping my younger daughter until she gets a medical assistant job. I love to read. I will gladly read and review the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleeeeeaassssssseeeeee! Blessings!

comments that might win a book!??!?

Um… I have a cousin named Jeffy. And another whom we called Jo-Jo (kinda like Bo-Bo Right?) I have a well that does not stink and a neighbor who does.

I’m having a rough week (and it’s only Weirdsday) so in order to keep the trend going I should win a book and promptly be arrested for possesion of stolen property.

What book is this? What’s it good for? What color is it? Hardback? Softcover? How many pages? Any fold-outs? Can it double as a footstool? booster? missile? Okay, well, I guess this means we’re entered.
