Blubber Bloggers — Strategies

This blubber coalition is working well for me.  I’ve been taking it seriously – and yes, I can be serious about things. Sometimes.  Sort of.

Anyways, I’ve been doing 50 situps and 15 girly pushups
everyday (except for one day I accidentally skipped the girly pushups) and I am
starting to see a positive difference.

Once upon a time a couple years back I lost about 40 billion
pounds by not eating any carbs or sugar.
I tried the no carb thing for a couple days last week but then got tired
of it. Today I’ve had a cup of Chai Tea, two
pancakes with butter and syrup, a bowl of bean and bacon soup (which I made
from scratch and it was completely, pleasantly edible, plus I didn’t burn anything down in the
process) and I also had two huge chocolate chip cookies that Emmiko made.  All that kid does is bake stuff. Anyways, I’m done
for the day. Except for water. I'm drinking water by the truckload.

I sort of like that ‘hungry
feeling’, wanna know why?  Because when I’m
hungry that means it’s eating my blubber.
I just imagine the Hungry Blubber Monster eating up all my calories.  Yes, I know that is lame, but it’s how my
brain works.

Lastly, I figured out something interesting.  If you pray for a good attitude, I mean
really seek God and let him know that you don’t want to be a sea hag, and
really long to cling closely to Him and follow after Him, He answers those
types of prayers.  It’s true, when I
truly pray and ask Him to change my heart and personal character issues and attitudes, He answers. He's real, and He hears us.

And Lastly lastly, here is a picture from a couple years back. I was about 6 months pregnant. Wowzers.  I was well over 200 lbs when I got un-pregnant with James.  And that's when I went on the no carb diet.

The End.

I agree. The Lord can change our attitudes when we pray. Thanks for the reminder. : )

    yeah, like whatever

Pregnant blubber pictures don’t count as real fat pictures. No way.

I like the no sea hag thing. I mean, seeing has He sees our hearts and knows what we are asking that is cool because in actual real life there is no such thing as a sea hag.

    I least I don’t think so.

I could be wrong, I have been before.

    Hi!

Well, I’m afraid to join your blubber blogger club. Honestly. I’m not good at following through with anything lately. I think I have planning/organizational followthrough issues too. Oh yes, please don’t burn down your dream house. Curry and candles don’t mix perhaps? Well now you have an excuse to buy new undies!

    Cheater!!

What do you mean posting a preggo picture as a “before” photo?!! Sure, it’s your blog and you are in charge…blah, blah, blah. I think those wax undies are getting to you if you really think that counts!! Let’s see some real footage. (insert sound of gauntlet being dropped….) BTW, there are no before photos of me as I didn’t have one of those ‘panoramic’ cameras *snicker, snort!*

You brave, brave woman to post a preggers picture. You're actually quite cute in it!! I wish…just once that I looked like some of these darling pregnant women I've seen lately. I was troll-like. It was not cute. I think that the angle is throwing us off…I bet you were one of those adoreable prenant women, weren't you?

    Blubber beast dies of hunger

My blubber beast hasn’t been fed in quite awhile…I can’t really remember the last time I had that “hungry feeling.” If I keep reading your blog I may have to start walking to the television instead of using the remote…You’re just inspiring the blubbery masses 🙂

I need to join your blubber blogger club. I just don’t want to because I’m too competitive and then I’d have to get in gear and eat right and give up coke and stuff like that.

We are going up to New York mid April and will probably travel back through your area sometime the first part of May.

Just to say, I am working on this too. I won’t post regularly since we’re in the process of moving across country, but my goal is to lose 15-20 lbs. I’ll let you know in March sometime how it’s going. And you would have to shoot me before I’d ever admit my weight in a public forum like this!! However, I’ve been faithfully going to the gym 4-5 times a week for some time now (like Oct/Nov?) since it’s been too cold to walk outside. (I LOVE walking outdoors!!) Anyway…..my biggest ‘thang’ is being disciplined enough to not eat when I don’t need it. Diets don’t work for me. I need God to change my heart to quit being so greedy….so it’s a work in progress. it’s about so much more than a number on the scale but about my need to be in control or for all my reasons why I can’t ‘do this right now’. I can use a lot of excuses why I ‘need’ to eat more (my dh was deployed in an icky place half of last year, we’re moving AGAIN, or shoot it’s just too cold outside and I want food!) I am the master of excuses. But I know God is bigger than my excuses, and wants all my devotion. And I know He is willing to help me in every area, even this! And I trust and believe He will help me in this. Anyway, just wanted to encourage you to keep at it. I’m here in the trenches with ya.

    Weighing In

Please be more careful with candles! So glad the situation was containge before the fire got out of control!

I weigh on Thursdays, so gonna post my weight now while I am thinking about it. I lost 3 pounds this week. Last week I lost 4.5 pounds. I am doing a good carb kind of diet and it is really working for me. After a total loss so far of 37 pounds, I am the smallest I have been in a decade:) YAHOO!

    lucky girl

I just got back from the doctor’s this week and found out I had gained NINE pounds in three weeks. AND-not only that, but I hit the 200 mark. Of course, I am 6’1 BUT it is still a traumatic thing. I had been doing superbly before…right on target with my weight. Bah humbug. THEN, in the SAME day I got my baby shower pictures back and in every single one my face had swelled to remarkable levels and MANY I had like TRIPLE chins.

Weight goes straight to my face. And it doesn’t for you. I am always jealous of people like that because they can still be photogenic…just take face shots! 😉

    Count Me In

Well after lurking a bit about the Blubber Bloggers I have decided to go ahead and join in on the fun (well maybe not fun but you know what I mean) I just had a baby back in October and after getting to a total of 195 lbs -gaining about 55 lbs I am ready to get all this extra weight off. I am currently at 160 and hope to loose down to 120 – By the way I love your thoughts on the hungry feeling, eating away at the blubber 🙂

Mrs. Ig, Starvation diets are bad since your body kicks into “famine mode” where your metabolism slows down to conserve the meager available energy. The “hungry feeling” is good, but like I say, ya gotta keep your metabolism from slowing down too much, otherwise you defeat the purpose. If you’re on your third day of that hungry feeling, you oughta grab a piece of fruit or some veggies. Apples and bananas have just about everything your body needs to stay healthy. You’re on the right track with the water. But no one recommends fresh air anymore. It’s important to turn off the computer, go outside and breathe deep to clean all the old stale CO2 out of your lungs.

I had a good clean week of eating, but I had peanut butter and jelly for breakfast. The Debstriss and I are finally going to Red Dumpster tonight for our belated anniversary date, only a month and a half late. (I’ve had a taste for King Crab for months!) We wanted to see “End of the Spear” but that flick is gone by now. Have a *healthy* weekend! -j

    All I have to say….

Is… You are one BRAVE WOMAN!

In fact … that’s what I love about you! Blubber and all … you tell (and show) it like it is — or WAS!!!

And… for what it’s worth — I TOTALLY resembled that picture of you preggers on your couch …. looks like me when I was preggers … in fact, I think I had that same shirt … and those same SUPER WHITE thighs!

    Love ya Jen!

    Let me tell ya…

Honey, let me tell ya’….you’re thinner in your pregnant picture than I will be in my “after 20 lbs lost in blogger blubber competition” picture. And I won’t have the pregnant glow.
